Havoc Demon Hunter 7.3

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new to this forum and hopefully don't repeat a question already asked.

Actually I have 2 questions. First is concerning stat weights with regards to buff food.

when calculating the comparrison numbers I end up with crit buff always providing the larger benefit.

375*1.37 vs 500*1

513.75 vs 500

or is this more depending on stat balancing?

2nd question is about Demonic build for single targets in Raids.

would the haste you gain through the higger uptime of meta (and thus more blade dances) compensate for lacking chaos blades?

even more with leg. cloak this might mean more procs. What do you think?

Curious to hear your opinions.

Not sure if this has been addressed, but what is the respective DPS gain for 2pc and 4pc t20?

Depends on the character and fight. If you're wondering if it's better than what you have currently, you can use SimC to check it accurately.

Hi, i like the guide. Im finding my dps a bit too low on bosses when using your mythic plus build, any tips?(using raddons eye and anger[970 both])

Also, can you pls list a % wise stat list for single target bosses, i know you always want crit about 40% atleast (closer to 50% if u can), but haste is something im not sure where to keep around, more than 10% i assume.

-Thanks!

I can't really help with the DPS issue, since I have no idea what you are doing during the fights. Logs are your best bet with this. As for the %-stat list, it depends. Stats are fluid in Legion, meaning they will change depending on what you have in other stats. You are going to have far more luck trying to sim your character on a fight similar to what you are trying to complete.

So with our new buff to demons bite, has there been any testing to see if it's viable?

Demon's Blade is still your go-to, especially with how good AotHG is.

I am now really curious to see if our stats will shift again. also wonder if blades will finally be dethroned. Personally I like demonic appetite more, but id rather have that AND blades.

Blades is still ahead, unfortunately :(

If they nerf AotHG to be worse with Blades, but better with Bite, you might see Bite played more.

Wordup is using example weights in the calculation, rather than listing ones that are usable by anyone. They are essentially created by simming a single character at 915 item level with the Tier 20 4-piece. For that person, the Crit food would be worth more for the next increase in the stat. The issue is, stat weights are how much DPS is added for every point of that stat. As soon as you add a stat point, you will see the weights change and recalculate. By the time you add the Crit food,  it will have devalued enough that, by the time you have added (for example) 200, it might already be low enough that Agility food is now better.

Hope I'm kinda making sense!

Can't edit for some reason, but:

For your second question, the build just isn't worth it on ST. You are changing your playstyle to fit around trying to make an AoE talent work, but the loss you will see won't be compensated enough to make it viable compared to current ST builds.

Thank you for your feedback Blainie.

I pretty much felt the comparrison yesterday.

Been using demonic build on Add heavy Boss encounters last ID and used single target std. build yesterday.

Even on encounters like the snake lady or desolate host i was running roughly 250k more dps.

There isn't a specific number. Havoc is crazy fluid with stats and, honestly, simming is the only way to check it. It will change entirely depending on where your other stats are right now.

Unfortunately I find the new leggo cloak to be absolute shit.. Belt is still better + The ring. I am sure there is a lot who agree? Considering I see top havoc DHs using either belt with ring or shoulders with ring.. None of them with the shit cloak, personally I was excited for the cloak but when I got 2 and 4 set bonus from ToS and equipped the cloak and tried some bosses. I was rather disappointed with how it performs compared to the belt -.- I was hoping to finally replace leggo belt, but nope! It's still the best.. I have mixed feelings about the belt because it's only above 90% boss HP the extra dmg is benefited from it, rest of the fight it's useless.. But even still with starting a boss fight jumping in with meta and burst CDs we greatly make good use of that 10% burn to get boss to 80% and when the boss fight is done dps Meyer shows its dmg in the range of 3-4% which is good, if not higher.

I saw that in 7.3 with the Argus raid coming out, the set bonuses revolve around Eye Meme, so maybe perhaps the leggo helm will rid of the leggo belt.. To utilize the effectiveness out of Eye Meme; Leggo helm + AotHG, but it's still too early to say.. But with my theory crafting for talent wise pretty well keep everything, but change about 3 talents to make the best use of Eye Meme dmg from the set bonuses; Blind Fury, Demonic Appetite and Demon Reborn, whilst keeping all the other talents that are currently best for ST and add in Eye Meme when CB is up to really nuke shit.

@Blainie any news on the lego standings? I too am curious of the cloak is any good, after using it I find it really just does not proc that often to make a difference for shorter fights.

I haven't seen anyone mention that the new Fel Barrage allows you to do almost anything else while still channeling. The only exception seems to be Eye Beam, but you can do anything else and it won't break the cast.

According to information, havoc demon hunter has no cap. Crit above all secondary stats, and then haste, versatillity, agility, and mastery. Haste is used for mostly fury generation. Given that you have Anger of the Half-Giant, what is a nice haste level for nice flow fury? Is that flow of fury secondary to stacking crit to insane levels? At the moment, my crit is 52% and 11% haste, and lower my crit level for haste is a dps loss. At the same time, there is periods of fury starvation which might be consider dps loss. Any ideals?

Super late on this, my apologies. Wordup did end up adding a note to the guide about Delusions and how extremely powerful it is in ToS specifically, rather than in a general scenario. I'll copy it below, just in case you didn't catch the update:

Quote

As mentioned above, Delusions of Grandeur Icon Delusions of Grandeur relies on it generating an extra use of Metamorphosis Icon Metamorphosis. In Tomb of Sargeras, this is particularly potent due to it lining up better with high damage periods, and having it reduced down to a 2-minute cooldown is realistic on most encounters due to the Tier 20 bonuses; this will usually be the best pick when combined with Anger of the Half-Giants Icon Anger of the Half-Giants. When extra uses are not generated reliably, however, this still requires forethought as to whether it is worth equipping.

Sorry, once again!

Unfortunately, given how awful the talent is in ToS, it's probably why it wasn't mentioned as any sort of big update. I can ask for a note to be added.

This is a hugely personal thing - it's what you want, essentially. If you want the "mathematically correct" (take with a grain of salt) level of Haste, use Raidbots. https://www.raidbots.com/simbot

No biggy, was there any mention if the cloak is on the low side? I dont see many people using it at all and i was super excited to get it but it feels to be underperforming

The cloak is, in theory, very good still. It's just very fight dependent as far as I am aware. For example, the #6 on Harjatan used the cloak, or the #1 on Kil'Jaeden. I think it's an incredibly specific legendary to actually be able to outperform the others, just because of how strong Delusions + Anger is.

Hey Blainie (or anyone who want to look at), I hope you could see this log here in Goroth fight. I'm doing the rotation rigth? There's something I could change?

You seem to waste Fury each fight, normally between 100-250, I assume by capping out. You also are generally missing out on 1 possible FotI cast each fight, as well as a few Blade Dance casts.

We are currently in the process of updating all guides as required for the 7.3 release. Please be patient as we make the necessary changes. You can keep an eye on the changelog to know if the guide has been updated or not.

Here's a really cool possibility for the War Within, as a very subtle and mildly mysterious comment from Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, may be hinting at our Warband characters getting a lot more involved in our travels!
First spotted by UlthansWrath, Longdale came up to Taliesin & Evitel at the recent London War Within Alpha press event and had a short chat about the Warband screen, when she casually said "wouldn't it be cool if those were the characters you took as your followers in your Follower Dungeons?" After the obvious confirmation from Taliesin and Evitel that, yes, yes it would be cool, she just said "hm" and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but considering this is a really awesome idea, it seems likely Blizzard are at the very least discussing it, if not already working on it.

The Warband system is already great, and this would add a lot to it for players that choose to go solo into dungeons, as it would give them even more motivation to get some great characters in their Warband - even if it was just a cosmetic option.
So, what do you think, will we be seeing this feature when the War Within launches?

Affliction is getting plenty of changes today as well, with Blizzard detailing the reasoning behind certain choices.
      Affliction (Source)
      Greetings Warlocks,
Today, we have various Core and Affliction tree changes hitting the Alpha. We want to take a moment to go a bit more in depth as to what certain changes were made and why. As a refresher, here are the goals for our Core and Afflictions that we posted last week along with some additional goals that we can dig into here.
      Class
Ensure each capstone is interesting and exciting. Reduce the amount of throughput talents, to free up utility choices. Reduce the number of ranks for talents that don’t warrant multiple ranks. Affliction
Address the tuning of Malefic Rapture in single-target and multi-target situations. Reduce complexity and the amount of active buttons that contribute to it. Erase the need to choose between a single-target or multi-target profile by adding more adaptability and flexibility. While we cannot go over every change here, we’d like to get a bit more detailed than last week’s update and explain some of the bigger changes coming in this build.
      Class Tree Throughput
We’re removing a lot of throughput talents from the class tree to allow warlocks to pick up more utility without feeling forced to take mandatory talents to be competitive. These talents aren’t compelling options when placed against utility as they will always be the right answer to have. This allows us to move that power into the specialization trees and tailor throughput-centric talents to be specific to that specialization’s gameplay.
      Malefic Rapture
In addition to becoming baseline for Affliction, we are introducing new talents that will help Malefic Rapture become the go-to spender for both single-target and multi-target situations. This should also shift Seed of Corruption to being a means to apply Corruption to multiple targets rather than what you spam in dungeons. In addition, we are redesigning Siphon Life to be friendlier to Affliction’s rotation and expect that its new design will make it easier to optimize Malefic Rapture.
      Affliction’s Adaptability
While we do want Affliction warlocks to have a preferred talent setup for single- versus multi-target situations, we don’t want it to feel like they are powerless if they are in the opposite situation. By focusing on Malefic Rapture being Affliction’s main spender and removing talents that are only valuable in multi-target situations (Soul Flame, Soul Swap, Doom Blossom, etc.), we’re hoping that the Affliction tree feels less punishing to fill out.
      Is This It?
Not at all. We expect to make changes based on feedback and our own playtesting. We want to get the ball rolling on changes we knew we want to make, so we could start the discussion early on and make adjustments before The War Within launches.
Thank you all for the continued discussions and we look forward to your feedback!
And here are the full changes from the development notes:
