Your stat priority posted is completely wrong and not viable for high m+ or raiding situations. Versa > Mastery > crit > haste  is significantly stronger.

This is for the pre-patch, so M+ is not a factor. However, I am interested where you generated your priority from, since with tanking it's always a fluid process and some have more success with different ones

Given that it seems it's coming from the pin in the Discord, that same post has an addendum that other builds are better in different situations, and that it is purely focused upon Legion. There is however an argument to me made of advantages between multiple stat weights, this was just agreed as the most rounded for the purposes of pre-patch and the updates in Legion will likely reflect that.

That's a tooltip error from wowhead (and maybe other db sites). It costs 5 Pain in game.

Yes demon spikes cost 20 pain ingame I am at beta now and checking. I don't know where u get 5 pain from sorry

I think your discussion of talents should be more deep. All tiers are tied to some sort of mitigation, even the first as 15% of the fire damage comes back as healing with Charred Warblades, and it helps a lot. Therefore, the only "pure dps" talent of the first tier is Razor Spikes. Agonizing Flames synergises with Immo Aura, that is great for a burst self healing when you're under geared in Heroics or Mythic+ (I'd add too in the starting 110 instances, I felt particularly weak before I had 815 ilvl, but its difficult to have this Artefact trait when you just dinged 110) specially when pulling and its REALLY important for DHs. Abyssal Strike is great for more "sustained" healing if you combine with Flame Crash and awesome in some bosses (1st of Maw, for example, hate that fear, and frankly some pack groups there).

For the second tier, I used Fallout in grps (that deadly first 3 GCDs where we can go from 100 to zero) and Feast for bosses. Burning alive is amazing when you lose control of your char (that mobs that stun you and beat you to death in BRH, for example.

I would also suggest something I did for the Brazilian forums: how each talent interact with each major (golden) trait in the Artefact. Probably everyone will go to FbP and there are two talents that interact nicely with that trait, that is probably what you're gonna have when you reach 110.

Also you should also go indepth on how certain things will change what legion is unlocked as well as how certain talents will interact with talents from the artifact weapon, i know this mean for prepatch but covering bases for legion would make this guide a bit helpful for people preparing to look into the talents on the artifact weapon and what route they would like to take as well as which talents would enhance their damage, survivability, or over all flexibility as a vengeance DH.

You already answered your demand by yourself : "i know this mean for prepatch".

This is a 7.0.3 patch guide as it is mentioned in its title and right now it's being updated frequently for 7.0.3.

All the guides will be updated for Legion when it'll come close.

Critical strike holds more priority over haste because DH's main form of sustained tanking comes from the healing of soul fragments. Each soul fragment has a chance to critically heal, and does so very often. Not to mention the additional parry conversion. There's no reason Haste should be first stat priority.

Hey. I just checked in-game now and you are right, it is 20. I'll update the guide. Sorry about that, I didn't have access to the game at the time and went from memory (I remember the tooltip having been long for a while). Thank you!

As stated by someone else, we will go into detail about all the other talents and abilities, including artifact stuff, but that's for the Legion guide whereas right now the guide is just for the pre-patch. Thank you for all the feedback!

Crit + Mastery = top stats while solo tanking not sure why you guys keep saying haste+mastery, sims seem to always put haste on top of everything never accounting for inexperienced healers or lack of external heals.

As a Vengeance Demon Hunter, you have 2 defensive cooldowns.

Metamorphosis Icon Metamorphosis increases your current and maximum health by 30% for 15 seconds, and grants you 7 Pain per second for its entire duration. It has a 3-minute cooldown and no cost.

Metamorphosis works both pro-actively (to increase your health in preparation for damage) and re-actively, as an emergency cooldown to heal you up when you drop low on health. The extra Pain that Metamorphosis generates is also a nice bonus, which you can use on Soul Cleave Icon Soul Cleave for more healing.

Your second defensive cooldown is Darkness Icon Darkness. This marks an area in an 8-yard radius around you for 8 seconds, and any allies standing inside this area (yourself included) have a 15% chance to avoid the damage of incoming attacks. Darkness has a 3-minute cooldown.

As a defensive cooldown, Darkness is quite weak, but it can be helpful especially when multiple raid members can benefit from it.

Darkness is incorrect. Veng demon hunters dont have that ability. It is replaced by empowered wards instead.

Hey,

Darkness is still in the Guide :D but what i want to ask is, why ist there Versatility in the Stat Priority? Isn't Versatility removed as Stat from the Game? For example, Versatility isn't listed as Stat at the Characterinfo ingame.

I hope you understand what i mean, sorry for bad english skills :D

Hello guys, i've got a question on the feast of souls talent. Based on the way the tooltip is worded, wouldnt it be beneficial to cast 2 soul cleaves for 30 pain each instead of 1 soul cleave for 60 pain to get the hot from feast of souls 2 times for the same amount of pain? As long as one hot is worth more than 1 shear (the free gcd you get when using only 1 soul cleave for 60 pain) it should be desireable for survival. Any thoughts or knowledge on the topic? Im not sure if the hot is worth more than 10 pain for survival (cant imagine the hot is that weak though). In addition: i dont know whether the hot has a fixed healing value (like the tooltip suggests) or scales with the pain used. Any hints will be appreciated, cant test it myself unfortunatelly.

Versatility is still very much in the game.  If you don't have any on your gear, the character panel in game won't show it.

I'm following this guide and I have issues in mythic dungeons. health spikes are insane and cause death at times and I'm talking ilvl700+  I tank on DK and Druid also and I don't have these issues or anything close to it. Can someone shed some light? My Demon Hunter

In legion it will be better if you use Vers Gems and enchants because there isn't that much gear that has Vers on it but the gear has alot of Mastery on it

I always lead off with FIERY BRAND, im seeing crits of 120k+.

I am having lots of fun with my Vengeance DH, but do not find it as easy to control big pulls as I do with my DK, Paladin, or Bear. Doable - yes, fun - yes, but not quite as smooth or easy. I think part of that is the kinetic nature of DH. Your vantage point shifts more abruptly with Infernal Strike. Your self-heals are dependent on having something to hit (like DK but without Vampiric Blood), so if you get knockback or have to run out at the same time your health dips, that can be inconvenient.

That said, I am having fun on him during pre-patch and have mine up to 719 now just off invasions and a few mythic dungeons. I haven't even looked at what happens with more talents and artifacts, so maybe some of this will work itself out as we mature.

This guide should be more specific with its claims. Why is it that Soul Barrier is completely undesirable right now? Last Resort is very powerful, but doesn't keep you alive for very long if you just die again from a big hit. Soul Barrier seems to be the best choice when you don't have your 4-set bonus and decent gear, but this guide simply neglects it and doesn't explain why.

      War of Thorns
      War of Thorns is the pre-expansion event that will be available on live servers the week of July 24, 2018 through BfA launch. The questline consists of two stages: Stage #1 ends with the Horde forces advancing to Darkshore. Completing it unlocks Darkshore World Quests  Stage #2 ends with the Alliance evacuating Darnassus and taking the portal to Stormwind when Teldrassil's burned down. Important cinematics from this stage are still missing! It remains unclear who actually burned down the World Tree. All quests reward reputation with the Alliance. You can earn the following faction mounts by completing the second part of the pre-expansion event: Smoldering Reins of the Teldrassil Hippogryph (Alliance) War-Torn Reins of the Undercity Plaguebat (Horde) You can find the War of Thorns preview from the Horde perspective here.       Part One
      A Short-Lived Peace
      The initial quest's offered by Anduin who tells you how bravely you fought in the name of the Alliance, but more needs to be done given that he received a disturbing message from Alliance operatives in Orgrimmar.
      The Horde Uprising
      Unbeknownst to Anduin (who thinks that Horde forces gather in Silithus to get ahold of Azerite), you're supposed to report to Mathias Shaw for further instruction when all of a sudden he appears and tells you his reports were wrong:
      A Disturbance in Ashenvale
      Tha kaldorei forces already set sail for Silithus, but the Horde's attack on Ashenvale has begun. This piece of information is important, because the Alliance will get wrecked by the Horde big time, as they don't have enough forces to defend themselves. You are told to report to Captain Delaryn Summermoon in Astranaar. Go outside and enter Field Marshal Cogspark's portal to Astranaar.
      The Light of Elune & Knives of the Forsaken
      In Astranaar, you'll find Summermoon and many poisoned civilians.
      Objective of these quests is to honor bodies of the fallen in Astranaar and fight Undead Rogues.
      A Soft Glow
      Go find Malfurion in Ashenvale (at the entrance to Darkshore). He'll be fighting Sylvanas and creates a wisp wall to fend them off and win some time. Horde soldiers will try to pass it, but get killed by the wisps.
      Hidden Amongst the Leaves & Mercy for the Mad
      Captain Summermoon informs Malfurion that Horde forces gather at Zoram'gar Outpost.
      Slay 8 Frenzied Blackwood Furbolgs and send 8 Druids to defend the Grove of the Ancients.
      Garden Grove
      Meanwhile, the sacred grove is already under attack by Goblins and you must go defeat the Monstrous Shredder.
      Enraged Furbolgs & Elves in the Machine
      Something's going on at the Blackwood Den. You are sent to investigate the disturbance. Entering Blackwood Den reveals that it's under attack by the Horde and you must save Elder Brolg, Gren Tornfur and Elder Brownpaw. At the same time, Summermoon will offer a quest where you must sabotage Horde demolishers. Remain in close range of her to gain stealth and Horde forces won't be able to detect you. Saving a furbolg triggers the following broadcast text:
      The Wake of Something New
      Onu's pain grows and you are sent to Nazj'vel to investigate the disturbance.
      Azerite Denial & No Horde Allowed
      You'll find Horde forces collecting Azerite at Nazj'vel and must prevent them from gathering Azerite.
      Malfurion Returns
      Malfurion needs your aid at the Wildbend River.
      "Rock" The World
      Speak to the Tree of Life to start fighting Horde forces. You'll have access to multiple spells including a self heal.
      Long Away
      Regroup with Malfurion and Delaryn at Darnassus. At this stage, we had to talk to Zidormi, because Teldrassil was already burned down and inaccessible.
      A Looming Threat
      Stalemate at the Wildbend River can only be ended when you rally the kaldorei forces in Darnassus. In the meantime, Malfurion awaits the Alliance fleet in Rut'theran Village.
      Talking to Malfurion Stormrage ends the first part of the questline. At this point, players will unlock Darkshore World Quests. The second part probably won't be available immediately.
      Part Two
      A Threat from the North
      The Horde must have scaled the mountains of Felwood in the North. The wisp wall is failing, it is only a matter of time before the Horde breaks through.
      Rescue Effort & Defending Lor'danel & Action This Day
      The suddenness of the Horde's attack gave citizens little time to flee. Many are hiding in Lor'danel waiting for help. Evacuate 8 Lor'danel citizens and slay 15 Horde attackers. In order to complete the third quest, you must slay two Horde warriors that have led a charge to try and capture the Alliance fleet.
      The Guidance of Our Shan'do
      Lor'danel is overrun and the Horde doesn't relent. Seek out Malfurion in Darkshore. You will find him fighting Sylvanas. High Overlord Saurfang joins the fight and delivers a blow to Malfurion that almost kills him. Tyrande appears and tells you that the war is lost. You are ordered to take her hippogryph to Darnassus.
      A Flicker of Hope
      Darnassus must be evacuated before it burns to ash and you must douse (Bucket of Moonwell Water) the flames and rescue trapped civilians. A three-minute timer will start as soon as you accept the quest and it automatically completes when the timer expires.
      When the time expires your body becomes heavy as your lungs fill with smoke...
      From the Ashes...
      Genn Greymane suddenly appears from the Stormwind portal.
      Take the portal to Stormwind and talk to Anduin to receive your Smoldering Reins of the Teldrassil Hippogryph mount.
      Environmental Changes
      Darnassus & Darkshore
      Darnassus can no longer be accessed and fatigue will eventually kill you. Players can talk to Zidormi in Darkshore to witness the world before the burning of Teldrassil, allowing them to access Darnassus again.

      Stormwind
      Night Elves have been forced to retreat to Stormwind.

      Part One
      The Warchief Awaits

      Find High Overlord Saurfang in Northern Barrens.
      A Quick Diversion
      Fly to Astranaar in Ashenvale and talk to Lorash.
      Everybody Has a Price
      Your goal is to poison the kaldorei and disarm Astranaar.
      A Timely Arrival
      The Horde forces now advance through Astranaar and Sylvanas praises you for a perfectly executed strike.
      Zoram'gar Outpost
      Now that the Horde controls Astranaar, Sylvanas tells you that she will continue her hunt for the only creature that can stop your march to victory: Malfurion Stormrage. The next step is to establish a foothold at the base of Darkshore in Zoram'gar Outpost.
      Go back to Astranaar and talk to High Overlord Saurfang to proceed with the next quest.
      On The Prowl
      The objective is to meet Sylvanas near the entrance to Darkshore. You will find her fighting Malfurion and he won't let you pass. He creates a wisp wall, Horde soldiers try to cross it, but they get killed in the process.
      Into the Woods
      You will need to defeat 6 Ashenvale Huntresses and Sylvanas tells you that Malfurion will try to hold you back until his fleet returns from Silithus. Until then, his army is too small. You must find a path through the wisp wall.
      Ripe for the Picking
      Go to Zoram'gar Outpost and talk to Saurfang.
      A Quick Flyover
      Talk to Zarvik Blastwix to fly a machine that will help you destroy wisps.
      An Unstoppable Force
      Now's the time to get past the wisp barrier and you will meet Sylvanas at the wall.
      You must now pass through the wall.
      Clearing Them Out & A Glaive Misunderstanding
      It's time to press on. The objective is to defeat Night Elf forces and glaive throwers in The Master's Glaive.
      Blurred Vision
      Sentry Owls in the trees are reporting everything they see back to Malfurion. It's up to you to eliminate them along with Frenzied Blackwood Furbolgs.
      The Trees Have Ears
      Slay the Burning Ancient. A cinematic plays after completing this quest.
      Aggressive Inspiration & The Blackwood Den & A Change in Leadership
      In the next series of quest, you must attack and capture Blackwood Den by defeating leaders, slaying furbolgs and planting Horde banners.
      The Start of Something Good
      Meet Sylvanas at Nazj'vel.
      Fueling the Horde War Machine & A Very Clear Message
      Collect Azerite from 6 Azerite deposits and slay Night Elves that are trying to snag it.
      A Gift of Azerite
      Deliver the collected Azerite to Zarvik Blastwix in Blackwood Den.
      A Wild Ride
      You'll arrive at the Wildbend River and fight off Awakened Ancients and kaldorei forces. Sylvanas tells you that the stalemate is unwise to pursue and suggests regrouping at the Blackwood Den.
      A Looming Threat
      This is the final quest of the first part of the pre-patch event that unlocks World Quests in Darkshore.
      Part Two
      Saurfang Returns
      Find Saurfang in Lor'danel.
      No Small Mercy & Seaside Rendezvous & Driving Them Out
      Saurfang will offer three quests. You must defeat 15 Lor'danel defenders, Caranne Briarbow and Ariel Stagguard and save 8 scared civilians.
      Killer Queen
      After that, you go to Mist's Edge and talk to Sylvanas. A not yet implemented cinematic will play and you will see the burning World Tree in the background and receive your faction mount.
