Help Me With My DPS, Please!

6 posts in this topic

Hello forum! I need help with my dps. I have read for a long time on noxxic.com and also here, but my dps is still low. On Noxxic.com there is a feature that says how much dps each specc has, and the lowest specc should have around 69k with ilvl 463 gear. I have almost every piece of gear better than that, but my dps is 38k, So I really need help.

Now my fist specc is nothing to think about, I use that for soloing and I think that is fine. But my secondary specc is my raiding one. (The one that doesn't use elusiveness.)

Now the specc is mostly from Noxxic and here but also what some of the people in the raidfinder group told me was better.

The combatlog; I didnt know how to use it or do it, so a little help with how to use it would be apreciated ;D.

My rotation is in stealth ambush and (if needed) shadowstep. Then I use Sinister Strike to get 5 combopoints and always keeping reavealing strikes up. With 5 CP I refresh Slice and Dice, and when both revealing strikes and SnD is up I spend my combopoints on Eviscerate. Killing Spree I use everytime it's possible preferably when I am low on energy, so I build up some combopoints first since using a finishing moves regenerates some energy. I try to use Adrenaline Rush after a Killing Spree so that the cooldown is shortened by the finishing moves.

I don't really know what defensives to use, I mainly use Cloak of Shadows when it is possible or I save it for when I need to resist a strong spell from the boss, and the same thing goes about smokebomb (trying to do it close to other players). If more damage resist is needed I also do Combat Readiness. My AOE rotation isn't a rotation... (I'm just saying) So I need help with that, and I really don't understand the guides on how to do it.

I'm not using Rupture, since it's just some few percent of my DPS and people have told me not to use it.

Poisons; I dont really know which one to use. Some have told me to use leaching poison but the guide advice not to. And also the fourth tier of my talent; I don't knoiw what to chose.

If there is something I missed to mention, please let me know and I tell you how I am doing it.

According to noxxic combat is pulling 61,622 dps at 468ilvl, which is a ok benchmark I suppose but I wouldn't take to much stock in it. Rotation and gameplay is the most important. Like everyone else will post, "without any logs its hard to give you much help". World of Logs is as easy as going to the site, making an account, and reading the directions. At first glance though you don't have everything reforged/gemmed/enchanted and because of that you aren't hit capped, which is a must for rogues. I would suggest going to Mr. Robot and making the changes it tells you. Its not the end all be all of your decision making but it's a step in the right direction. I would almost guaranty you see a difference just by doing that. If your rotation and priority system is as stated you shouldn't have a issue.

I sent an email to WoL Support for help on how to do the log. It will probably be up here soon, if they answer me Posted Image.

From what I understand, a tool like Shadowcraft is more reliable than Noxxic. It can tell you what reforges/gems will be helpful as well. Often times the theoretical DPS is almost impossible to reach because it requires perfect play and doesn't fully account for bad RNG. On the other hand, you can be doing better than 38k with your gear.

As far as AOE goes, check the icy-veins guide. Basically it says if there are less than 8 targets, just turn on blade flurry and continue the SnD/Evisc rotation. If more than 8 targets, fan of knives to five combo points and then crimson tempest to spend them.

The Sworn is recruiting DPS. We are a Horde guild on Arthas and our current progression is 5/11 Mythic Antorus. We only raid two nights a week, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:15 PM until 12:15 AM Eastern. Currently, our main goal is to push Mythic progression & finish out the raid before next patch, please keep this in mind if you wish to join us, because we will not be doing Heroic or anything like that.
From you, we would expect 100% attendance during your trial period; after that if you cannot make a raid or will be late it is mandatory to keep the raid leader updated. In order to continue making good progression while raiding only two nights a week, we expect that you know your class inside-out and will research any bosses you are unfamiliar with prior to raids.
As far as classes are concerned, at this time, we do not have ANY rogues, DPS warriors, havoc DH, or wind walkers.
If you are interested, add me to battle tag and we will talk (violentravi#1826), I will accept mostly anyone who wants to be a bench or casual, but for raiding purposes, you must be able to provide logs.
      Thank you for your consideration

      About Us
Skunkworks is a guild for players who can not or do not want to commit to the time-intensive raid schedules of traditional "hardcore" guilds.
However, we still maintain a high caliber player environment and make an efficient use of our raiding time.
We raid Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 - 11:00 PST, just 8 hours a week and never more.
We are very protective of our guild environment and selective in recruitment. We are looking for solid players mechanically as well as intellectually.
We all get paid to deal with idiots, why should we pay to spend our leisure time with them as well?
Skunkworks has been around for multiple expansions and has historically always been at the top of the 2-night raiding guild scene.

So I’ve read the Icy Veins Sin Rogue PvP Guide that suggests Cheapshot > Garrote > Mutilate > Rupture as an opener. It works very well, but I’m wondering if I should use another opening rotation with MotMA (gives 100% crit chance for 5 sec after exiting stealth mode)? I know that legendaries aren’t active in arenas, but I was thinking in wpvp/duels.
      Cheers :)

I've never shared a deck but I'll make an exception sharing one of my most successful decks (played on the ladder up to rank 3 several months)
It's a Keleseth Rogue with very peculiar cards and the biggest difference is that Deathwing is mostly the win-condition of the deck
      Here is the masterpiece :D
      2X Backstab
      2X Shadowstep
      2X Elven Archer
      2X Swashburglar
      2X Southsea Deckhand
      1X Patches the Pirate
      1X Prince Keleseth
      1X Acolyte of Pain
      2X SI:7 Agent
      2X Southsea Captain
      1X Edwin VanCleef
      1X Shaku, the Collector
      2X Saronite Chain Gang
      2X Nesting Roc
      2X Vilespine Slayer
      1X The Black Knight
      1X The Curator
      2X Bonemare
      1X Deathwing
Elven Archer is mainly a combo activator that is more useful than Fire Fly since it does damage and can be shadowstepped if needs and save countless damage to face when big minions remain on the field with 1 hp saving you from taking huge face  damage to ping them, the card really shine in the deck to the point to deserving to name it
The Curator is there to pull Deathwing mostly and you get also a Nesting Roc in the process
Nesting Roc takes the place of Cobalt Scalebane commonly seen to add synergy to Curator, give a strong minion that priest almost never remove or a 7 hp taunt that I find more useful than a 5/5 do nothing
The Black Knight was added to help Vilespine removing high health minions that mostly have taunt to direct Vilespine on the other minions
Deathwing is the big surprise because it usually win matches on its own even matches that are completely off control can be win thanks to him.
Most people tend to go all in when see a Rogue in late game because almost nobody with similar decks bring aoe removal and even less can suspect that the dragon you pull with The Curator is Deathwing himself wrongfully think that is probably a Cobalt Scalebane
Against a Jade Druid landing a Deathwing is almost guaranteed to end the game because they spend any removal on the other minions and tend to go wide with boards resulting in losing 6-7 minions and have to face a 12 attack minion that they need at least 2 turns, turns they don't have cause Deathwing going face and leaving them dead.
Not drawing Keleseth early here isn't much a loss because you not need to win as fast as possible othwerwise you are doomed because usually the plan B works better than the plan A because the deck run so many minion that almost nobody save a removal for the 'surprise' Deathwing.
If someone wants try it let me know how was. I used this from rank 15 to 3 for 3 months already winning most of the matches without much problems against the most commonly found decks in standard.
