New Hero Teaser: July 27th

Recommended Posts

Blizzard released Anduin on April 30, and it's time for a new hero to enter the Nexus. Today, the first teaser appeared on Twitter depicting a female hero wearing a necklace.

Here we have the first hero teaser, and it's a female character wearing an amulet. The neckpiece seems to be related to the Raven Lord, but would they introduce a Nexus-born hero when there's better hero material right now?

Redditor Trafalgaroo posted a brightened up version of the picture which makes the character look like a Night Elf. Do you think it could be Azshara?

The second teaser should be available tomorrow, and the patch could very well be live on Public Test Realms as soon as next week. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

If we're thinking of Night Elves or even Nightborne and their lineage, maybe Azshara. I feel that goes along with the current content in WoW as well.

My bet so far is either Azshara or Lady Vashj on their nightborne forms. I don't think they would be added to the game in that form, though, but remember this is just the first teaser.

Based on nexus crystal and Wonder Woman dress, I'd say either a new event or new Nexus character.

They were never transformed into Nightborne, also this teaser looks nothing like either of them. Looks human and outfit doesn't seem to match any of the Night Elves, at least from what we can see on this art. Besides, they would rather advertise them with their Naga forms.

Need some Adriel. I think that's her name. We have what, 3 Demon Lords out of Seven? Or were there 5? I forget now.

Naga would be cool though.

This is clearly the human form of Onyxia. Also Vanilla WoW returns next month.

This looks like it.

I don't know where does this image comes from, is it official or not, but on it Onyxia has that kind of amulet.

Or simply it is for new event, since Mecha is ending in 9 days,

When you think about it, Onyxia would make sense to coincide with upcoming WoW Classic release. She is one of the most recognisable bosses from there, alongside Ragnaros and Kel'Thuzad, who are already in the game. More boring options are also still possible, it might be a new Nexus-themed hero or just a skin pack, since that gem fits Raven Lord's family theme.

Man I'm done speculating on things like these lol *remembers the D.Va teaser that were claw marks on wood*
on a side note the Onyxia pictures look pretty close really. Im just wondering in the second picture there seems to
be what looks like feathers/Wings maybe some harpy kinda of hero?
I never played WoW (just ye old school warcraft games) So I don't know if anyone know of any major harpy type characters
from the Wow Franchise go nuts!
I also like to think they will probably tie the release to the upcoming WoW classic stuff

There are some theories that the new Hero is Orphea's mother, which makes a lot of sense given her Nexus-esque pendant.

The second teaser dropped today:

People are already theory-crafting who it could be, and the image itself has a very strong Predador vibe, with "trophies" of other Heroes, where we see Maiev's weapon, D.Va's and Tracer's guns, the skulls of a hydralisk and possibly Mephisto, the Lich King's helmet, etc.

There is alot to see in the newest teaser, which also may tease more than one new hero.

Though thats assuming its just me pissing in the wind, you see items related to other characters from Blizzard:

Brigette's Shield

An Eredar Skull, as well as an Imp skull

A Devilsaur Skull and so on.

Not sure why my original post is hidden. Anyway, these dreadlocks don't fit any known character. Could be an original hero or a skin pack, hero teasers used to be in form of changing or "zooming out" pictures. Skin pack teasers usually presented a different set of images, so it might be just that.

Wider picture shows trophies of heroes who aren't in the game: https://prnt.sc/ol515t

There is Brigitte's shield and Reaper's mask among other trophies.

Uncommon Patron

I also thought it was Orpeas mother at the first teaser because of colours but the second teaser doesn't seem to have any connection with it.

The hero seems to be an Overwatch one, maybe Lucio's sister ?

Maybe Lucio's sister is angry on Orpea,s mother.

In Storm League, rank is always updated by taking the change in rating and determining the equivalent number of rank points to reward. While the Heroes team is quite happy with how it turned out, the system is causing problems in Bronze 5.
In Bronze 5, players gain/lose far fewer points per game than players in other leagues and divisions. The underlying problem makes it harder to climb out of Bronze 5 and causes frustration and bad gameplay experience. The team is working on ways to improve it and provided an explanation of why this is happening.
      Blizzard (Source)
With the launch of Storm League season 1 we have seen a dramatic improvement in rank distribution. One of the primary changes in this release was in how rank is determined. In the past, rank and rating were two entirely different concepts, both of which were updated differently after each game. It was very common for a player's rank and rating to diverge throughout each season which could cause the matchmaking system to struggle to find games.
With the changes introduced this season, rank is always updated by taking the change in rating and determining the equivalent number of rank points to reward. This leaves very few ways rating and rank can diverge and results in most players being shown a number equivalent to their rating.
Overall, we are very happy with how the changes are looking; however, we are aware of the inconsistencies players are currently experiencing in Bronze 5. With the new design, players in Bronze 5 will gain/lose far fewer points per game than players in all of the other leagues and divisions. The reason for this is a bit technical but we wanted to take the opportunity to elaborate on what's going on.
Under the hood, matchmaking rating is simply a number on a bell curve. Every league and division encompasses a range of values on the same curve. For example, if the overall bell curve ranges from -10.0 to 10.0 and the range 1.0 to 1.5 maps to Gold 1, then a player with a rating of 1.25 will have the equivalent rank of Gold 1 & 500/1000 points. These numbers are intentionally made up as the real ones are always subject to change but the idea is the same.
The reason for the decrease in points awarded in Bronze 5 is that the range of ratings that maps to Bronze 5 is much larger than other divisions. The difference is that this much larger range of ratings still maps to the same number of rank points. As a result, despite being rewarded the same change in matchmaking rating, the rank points awarded may be lower. This is visualized by the graph below:
We understand that this inconsistency is a negative experience for players so we will be exploring some ways to improve it.
Thanks for participating in Storm League and providing your feedback!
