Recommended Posts

The final stress/pre-launch test has been announced and it's coming 19 days before the game's actual launch! On 11AM PDT August 8th everyone with an active subscription will be able to play Classic until level 15 for a day, as the test will end on August 9th. We also got to see the minimum PC and Mac specs for the retail version and Blizzard ask that everyone front-load their stay in the test as they want as many people as possible to log in at 11AM to check out important launch issues.

Check out some class guides for both the retail launch and maybe even the test, as 15 levels isn't a joke in Classic!

Hello!

Our global pre-launch test of WoW Classic will begin on Thursday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m. PDT and is scheduled to end on Friday, August 9. This test will be available to all World of Warcraft players with a current subscription or active game time in all regions. The maximum character level will be 15.

We ask that players please log-in and play as much as possible during the first two hours of the test – 11:00 a.m. PDT to 1:00 p.m. PDT, as that is when we’ll be actively monitoring for issues important to launch.

WoW Classic is now ready for all players to install from the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App in advance of the test. To install WoW Classic:

  1. Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft in the game selection menu on the left.
  2. Under the Version dropdown menu, select World of Warcraft Classic. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second dropdown for Account. In that column, select the active account to associate with your WoW Classic install.
  3. Click the Install button. You’ll see an installation progress bar that will show you when the installation is complete.

Minimum Specs

We’ve finalized the minimum specifications required to play WoW Classic on PC or Mac. Please note that these are much lower than the minimum specs required to play Battle for Azeroth. Recommended specs are the same for both.

In our hardware testing, we found that we were able to successfully run WoW Classic on systems manufactured and released in the 2007-2009 timeframe, and thanks to improvements in how we build and distribute game data, the hard drive space requirements are actually smaller than they were in version 1.12 of original WoW.

  PC MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
OPERATING SYSTEM Windows® 7 64-bit (with latest Service Packs)
PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom™ X3 8750
VIDEO NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800 GT 512 MB or AMD Radeon™ HD 4850 512 MB or Intel® HD Graphics 4000
MEMORY 2 GB RAM (4 GB for integrated graphics such as Intel HD Graphics series)
STORAGE 5 GB available space
INTERNET Broadband internet connection
INPUT Keyboard and mouse required. Other input devices are not supported.
RESOLUTION 1024 x 768 minimum display resolution
  MAC MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
OPERATING SYSTEM MacOS® 10.12 (latest version)
PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ i5, 2.0 GHz or better
VIDEO Metal capable GPU with 1 GB VRAM
MEMORY 2 GB RAM (4GB for integrated graphics such as Intel HD Graphics series)
INTERNET Broadband internet connection
INPUT Keyboard and mouse required. Other input devices are not supported.
RESOLUTION 1024 x 768 minimum display resolution

We’ll see you in Azeroth on Thursday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m. PDT!

You can also check out out own Classic coverage, including the character creation opening on August 13th, many recommended addons that work with Classic, and, of course, the notorious "Not a bug" list, in addition to our many guides we already mentioned for the upcoming launch.

We have a real special one today, as a new and very specific method of speed leveling has resulted in a new record for assisted 1-60, clocking in at 19 hours and 10 minutes! You'll definitely want to hear about this particular record, however, as the method used was pretty crazy, and we get to check it out in full with a video.
While getting from 1-60 did take only 19 hours, the setup is very extreme and requires multiboxing... multiboxing 81(eighty-one) different characters to help with the leveling of the one going for the record. That's right, Maguno (Javy) multiboxed a staggering 13-16 characters at the same time to assist in tagging and taking down mobs in different level brackets. But that's not all, as all of those characters were somewhat well twinked, to be optimized for kill time on the mobs and not too much downtime for healing etc. Maguno leveled and twinked the 81 characters in self in preparation, and used some previously farmed Troll Necklaces and ZG coins to level faster at certain level intervals.

The multibox aid starts at level 3, after he heads to Stormwind to pick up some gear for the levels ahead, and the start of the video is well worth watching for the details and the beginning of the multibox experience! The full journey has been sped up into 29 minutes so definitely also skip through and check out some of the multibox action.
While some might have a problem with this method of leveling, it's still pretty great that player are finding some strange and pretty extreme ways to beat whatever target they envision for themselves, and that's always a good thing. The sheer amount of  dedication and time spent (not to mention the actual setup fot he various level brackets, twink items etc.) is impressive, no matter what anyone thinks of the goal or result, so congratulations to Maguno (Javy) on executing his plan!

WoW Classic has plenty of hidden internal cooldowns, and today we'll be looking at some of them, as GideonAI has made a video and compiled a list of the more interesting ones based on Discord user fusionpit's datamining. We have some big ones in focus, including the 2 second Hand of Justice CD, the 10 second Dragonbreath Chili CD and the giant 4 minute cooldown on the Primal Blessing bonus from the Thekal set. The video highlights some of the more prominent ones, but you can also check out the full list under it, courtesy of GideonAI!

We haven't heard of Hycran for some time after he completed "Insane in the Membrane" in Classic, but now, the player's back with the Scarab Lord title and  21 Exalted reputations out of 22 on the Horde side.
The final 22nd reputation is Bloodsail Buccaneers, and that would require 25 days of /played and repeatedly killing Jazzrik in Badlands, which is a single mob with a  5:30-8:30 variable respawn timer, so he decided not to pursue that reputation and ignore it.
Here's what he had to say about it all.
Anyway, huge congratulations to Hycran on this impressive feat!

Blizzard have responded to player concerns about a bug with the Improved Weapon Totems Shaman talent, as it does not actually provite its attack power bonus to players in the Shaman's group. Blizzard clarified that even though this is exactly how the talent worked throughout all of Vanilla and was fixed in BC, they will be making a hotfix to it, as it's clearly not intended behavior.

The other big thing to come from this blue post is the fact that they will be doing similar bug fixes for other issues that weren't necessarily addressed during Vanilla's time, but are clearly unintended, in an upcoming update.

      Hi All,
I just wanted to chime in and provide a bit of context around this issue, and an update on our plans for it.
The current behavior of the Improved Weapon Totems talent actually does match 1.12 and the reference client, and this talent behaved in this way for its entire existence during original World of Warcraft. It was, however, recorded as a bug shortly after it was introduced late in 2006 and was fixed very early in Burning Crusade. Since this is a clear bug that was fixed relatively quickly in the original game, we do currently have plans to fix this (as well as several other issues that were similarly bugged in original WoW but were clearly incorrect behavior) in an update coming in the near future.
      Hang in there, enhancement shamans!

We've already seen the Alliance take down the deep breath queen with only 3 players, now it's time for the Horde to have some fun as well! It seems around 40-50 minutes is the sweetspot for downing Onyxia with 3 players, as all the kills took about that long. The Horde compositions are set for all three videos, as Warrior, Shaman, Hunter is the go-to for 3-manning the dragon lady, which is the faction swapped equivalent of the Alliance kill we covered, which just had Paladin instead. If you want to see further humiliation for basically WoW's first raid boss, you can check out 33 druids killing her, 33 hunters taking under a minute to down her or even naked raids taking her down.
So let's take a look at 3 videos of 3-man Onyxia!

The last one is also the most recent, and the title is misleading as it is not the Horde first kill, but it's still impressive!
