Tombs of Terror Coming September 17 - Everything You Need to Know

Recommended Posts

The details for the PvE Adventure linked to the Saviours of Uldum expansion have been revealed. Tombs of Terror will be released on September 17, with its first two Chapters being available at that time.

At its core, Tombs of Terror will follow the usual Dungeon Run model with the build-as-you-go format. You will get to pick a Starting deck and Hero Power, while there will be 4 chapters in total and an additional "finale" once you beat all chapters. Tavern encounters will still be there, with a hint of Bartender Bob making a return.

Dual classes

There are also some differences: this time around there are 4 dual-class Heroes to play with.

The Heroes of this Adventure will be the members of the League of Explorers, with each of them representing two classes:

  • Reno Jackson – Mage, Rogue
  • Elise Starseeker – Druid, Priest
  • Brann Bronzebeard – Hunter, Warrior
  • Sir Finley Mrrgglton – Paladin, Shaman

Signature Treasures

Moreover, apart from your Starting deck and Hero Power, you will also get to pick a Signature Treasure at the start of your run. Each Hero has 6 different Signature Treasures and you will unlock them gradually as you play the Adventure. Assumedly, old-school Treasures are also returning.

Thematic Chapters and Plague Lords

Judging from the clips on the announcement video, each Chapter seems to have its own theme and its own Twist (for example, Murlocs).

The final boss of each Chapter will be a Plague Lord. These bosses have massive healthpools but carry over between runs, so if you die before killing it, it will have the same health the next time you see it. As you whittle down their health, their hero power will also change.

Release Schedule

Similarly to the Dalaran Heist, the first two Chapters will be released together. The finale will be immediately available, once you beat all 4 Chapters.

Here is the full release schedule for Tombs of Terror:

  • September 17 - Chapter 1 & 2
  • September 24 - Chapter 3
  • October 1 - Chapter 4 & Finale

Players will earn three Saviors of Uldum packs for finishing each chapter (including Finale), and a Golden Classic Pack for finishing all of them, for 16 packs in total.

Pricing and pre-purchase bundle

Chapter 1 will be available for free to all players. It also looks like the Finale will also be free, since no specific info was given on it in the official announcement. Subsequent Chapters can be bought for 6.99 dollars/euros or 700 Gold after release.

There is a single pre-purchase option: the Tombs of Terror Deluxe Bundle. It costs 19.99 dollars/euros and it includes access to the full adventure, a card back (see below) and a random Saviors of Uldum Legendary card.

You will be able to buy the full Adventure at a lower price (TBA) after it has been released, but it will not include the card back or random Uldum legendary card.

All I hope is that this will finally be a rather well thought-out adventure with steadily climbing difficulty rather than the absolute RNG garbage we've had so far, especially in anomaly mode. One can dream, right?

Blizzard released the 17.2.2 client patch for Hearthstone to fix a bug related to the closed shop that occurred due to a missing runtime dependency.
We’re currently in the process of deploying a 17.2.2 client patch that will address the following items:
Fixed a bug that would cause a crash on mobile when clicking the eye to see who is spectating. Fixed a few various issues that would lock the game state when playing certain cards from hand. Fixed a bug where some players in Europe were only given the option of Warrior as their free deck after graduating the new player ranks. Fixed a bug where the shop would be closed when launching Hearthstone due to a missing runtime dependency. If the shop is still closed after updating to 17.2.2, try swapping to another region on the launcher and swapping back before opening Hearthstone again.
The incorrect Mana display bug for mobile users will be fixed in the next update.
Any updates on when the incorrect mana bug for mobile players will be fixed?
Hey! This will be fixed in our next major update.

A new blog post has been released, detailing a dozen card changes coming to the game on Monday 18th of May.
Shaman is getting some much needed help, since three of its cards will be buffed - although it is debatable if these buffs will be enough to move the class out of the bottom.
As far as the nerfs are concerned, two more Demon Hunter cards (who would have thought?) are getting toned down. Scavenger's Ingenuity, Shadowjeweler Hanar, Blackjack Stunner, Imprisoned Scrap Imp, Bloodboil Brute, Bloodsworn Mercenary are also getting tweaked.
Nerfed cards will be eligible for a refund until June 1st.
The patch also brings a bug fix for Ethereal Conjurer, which was causing the game to lock by not offering any Discover options.
Don't forget you can grab a free Nemsy until May 19, as part of Patch 17.2.0.
