Here are the official notes for Patch 8.3 and features which are currently available for playtesting on Public Test Realms, including information on how to join the testing, and more!

Other Patch 8.3 Content:

Blizzard LogoBlizzard (Source)

A new content update for World of Warcraft is now being deployed to our Public Test Realms – Visions of N’Zoth.

Spoilers ahead!!

The Old God N’Zoth has risen from the depths to threaten Azeroth. Working alongside Magni, Wrathion, and other luminaries, players will attempt to empower Azeroth with defenses originally built by the titans. In return, the Old God attempts to corrupt the very minds of the player-characters with Visions of N’Zoth, a new, repeatable type of content where players explore a twisted reflection of a defeated future Azeroth.

This major update includes a number of new features, changes to existing systems, and other improvements that you can join us in testing.

Now Available for Testing

  • New world and questing content
  • New instanced content: Visions of N’Zoth
    • Horrific Visions in Stormwind and Orgrimmar
    • Lesser Visions in Uldum and Vale of Eternal Blossoms
    • Titan Research Tree (early iteration, with more to come in a later PTR update)
    • Legendary Cloak
  • Heritage Armor quests – Goblins and Worgen
  • Heroic difficulty Darkshore Warfront
  • Heart of Azeroth
    • New Essences
    • Additional Minor slot
    • Two additional Stamina nodes
    • Maximum level increased to 85 (was 70)
    • Additional infinite progression slot to aid you against N’Zoth’s corruption at max level (coming in a later PTR update)
  • PvP – “Servant of N’Zoth” event for Slayers who become bounty hunted
  • Auction House major revamp
  • Classes and Essences updates

In order to test much of the above, please look for “Heartzertauren” vendors in Orgrimmar, Stormwind, and the Chamber of Heart. Testers will need to purchase the Legendary Cloak and Coalescing Visions from them in order to access Horrific Visions. These vendors will also provide the first examples of Corrupted Items and Essences.

Coming Soon in this Update

  • New Allied Races – Mechagnomes and Vulpera
  • New Raid – Ny’alotha
  • New Story Quests: Rise of N’Zoth
  • Season 4 PvP and Mythic Keystone Dungeon updates
    • Operation: Mechagon has been divided into two wings, each with Heroic and Mythic Keystone difficulties
  • New Battle Pets and Pet Battle Dungeon – Blackrock Depths
  • Darkmoon Arcade – Play your favorite mini-games at the Darkmoon Faire
  • PvP – Deepwind Gorge re-imagined/updated to be a capture point map
  • Professions updates
    • New PvP catch-up gear for all crafting Professions
    • New upgrade level for Alchemy Stone, Jewelcrafting rings, and Engineering googles.
    • New Ny’alotha Vantus Runes.

For a first look at some of the above features, check out this new development update video from Game Director Ion Hazzikostas:

Interesting key points but per usual we'll see more Dev notes on select content.  The Season 4 Affix for keystones looks very interesting and fun; cant wait to try it out.

Still have zero interest in all the azerite/essences nonsense + the grind and still completely alt unfriendly in BFA.

Will be playing Classic I guess until this design team are fired and a new one put in place for the next expansion.

I have 6 chars that are 440+, with playing them one key a week each char. That does not sound alt unfriendly. But still I have to agree with you. Wanting to test out essences on other chars is impossible. I got Nazjatar reputation on one of my chars... will I farm it on another character? Hell no...

Its time for accountwide *filtered*.

- attunements
- reputation
- essences
- even azerite power should be accountwide imo

And ffs make flying unlockable after exploring the new zones in next addon. The cry babies who dont want to fly just unbind flying mounts then.

100% agree, I used to be a man of 4+ alts, but nowadays I cannot play anything except my main because nothing of importance is account wide! I don't mind so much about flying but at the same time I do think that the daily chores they currently put us through do not get any better (or in fact get longer and more annoying) without flying, so sure thing tbh!

I just want to live in raids, with multiple chars, and play the group + gear game. The insane solo grind content should not be mandatory in order to perform well at group content.

True, it's all but fun doing the repetitive grind on all characters. You'd think Essences would be account-wide by this time, but no.

Last week's title proved to be cursed, as Blizzard postponed the Destruction nerfs, and so the top spec remains very much unchanged, but the rest of the tuning did go through, with Affliction getting a boost and some tanks getting changes as well.
      Mythic
      95th Percentile
While Destruction avoided its ultimate fate for a while longer, Demonology is just biding its time to claim that No.1 spot. Survival moved into 3rd as it passed Frost DK, but it is also scheduled for a nerf (although an unspecified one) in Season 4, so the year of the spear may be coming to an end. Windwalker remains firm in 5th after its 9.2.5 buff, as Unholy continues to climb, rising 1 into 6th and passing Elemental. Feral sees a huge upswing, as it jumps 6 spots into 8th, followed by Marksmanship. However, Feral isn't the biggest mover this week, with Affliction actually rising into the top 10 after its buff, 10 spots up from last week and a full 14 spots up from its dead-last spot before that. Now we do have a relatively smaller group of players even plying Affliction, so the numbers aren't necessarily the most accurate, but it's definitely received a boost and might prompt some more to play it (at least in Season 4 when Destro moves out of the top).

95th percentile Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
Survival moves past Frost DK in the generalist bracket as well, but the big news is Affliction once again, which is doing even better here, moving into No.6 after the buffs, climbing 8 spots! The buff may not have been that big, but it seems to have worked, at least for now. The rest remains mostly the same, with Retribution moving up a few spots and all three mage specs moving further towards the bottom, where Fire has taken residence.

All percentiles Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Tanks and Healers
The tanks got a bit of a shakeup with the class tuning, but it hasn't impacted the numbers yet, on the contrary in fact, as Protection Warrior takes the top spot, while it was Guardian and Vengeance that actually got buffed in the tuning, but remained in their same spots. Paladins dropped 2 spots in the DPS charts as they swapped places with Warriors, and Brewmasters remained at the bottom.
All percentiles Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
Healers didn't get any changes in terms of tuning, and their rankings remained very similar, with only discipline moving up 2 spots.

All percentiles Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Heroic
Demonology is in charge in Heroic, as Destruction remains down in 15th where it's been for a while now. The big mover at the top is Enhancement, as it slots into 3rd place, 3 up from last week! Survival recovers after a dip, landing in 5th, and is followed by one of the biggest outliers in Heroic, with Balance sitting in 6th, in stark contrast to it's very low standing in Mythic.

All percentiles Heroic data by Warcraft Logs.

As always, if you want even more info on a spec, you can check out our class guides here, for a DPS tier list you can go here, or for even more data, head on over to Warcraft Logs. You can also check out our Sepulcher raid guides.

If you change your Loot Specialization, Zereth Mortis World and Daily Quests can offer different weapons as rewards.
The game will offer you different rewards from World and Daily Quests on live servers when you switch your Loot Specialization. Here is a short video demonstration video:

You can utilize Loot Specialization switching to collect transmogs or weapons for your off-spec.

Note that this only works in Zereth Mortis and it takes approximately 10 seconds for the rewards to change.

Update: it seems there's only half a mystery here, as I actually just didn't spot the Path of Frost icon, which led to the death. Apologies there. GY port is still a bug though!
It seems someone's been pouring concrete around Stormwind's oceans, as JuliusLeNightmare faced off against some water and lost, only to be teleported to a very far away graveyard.
Now while the teleport to the Tirisfal graveyard and the weird invasion of the zone near Stormwind is a well-known phenomenon/spatial anomaly, the transformation of the water into concrete is slightly weirder! Forsaken conspiracy/concrete pouring or weird bug? You decide!

We've seen many WoW-related Minecraft builds over the years, and this is one of the better ones, as it takes the Alliance capital and transforms it extremely well. After 200 hours of work, @Yunatahel finally finished up and shared the project with the world, so let's take a look!
Warning: potentially loud twitter video sound.
Even the official WoW twitter account commented!

You can also check out a different take on Stormwind (and Orgrimmar) here, and a recent Silvermoon rebuild here.

After today's reveal of the Priest Dragonflight talent tree, Blizzard went into a little more detail for one particular Shadow talent, as it was a little unclear what it did. Here's the basic tooltip we got today, which will be updated.

"Idol of Y'Shaarj: Shadowfiend causes you to gain a benefit based on your target's current emotional state."
      Idol of Y'Shsarj (Source)
Idol of Y’Shaarj will receive a new tooltip as we get closer to Dragonflight. In the meantime though, here’s a breakdown of what it currently does:
      If your target is…
      Above 80% health? → Pride
You and your Shadowfiend deal increased damage while Shadowfiend is active. Enraged? → Anger
Purges the enraged effect and increases your Haste while Shadowfiend is active. Stunned? → Despair
You generate Insanity while Shadowfiend is active. Feared? → Fear
You and your Shadowfiend deal increased damage and do not break fear effects while Shadowfiend is active. No conditions met? → Violence
Duration of Shadowfiend is increased. The priority order is:
      Anger/Despair/Fear → Pride → Violence
As with everything in the talent tree, these effects are subject to change. I hope this clears up some confusion. We’ll continue monitoring the community’s feedback and we look forward to sharing more Dragonflight details in the future!
