Hearthstone 16.0.8 Balance Update Notes

A balance update wlll go live in Hearthstone later this week with various changes for Standard and Battlegrounds and here are the official patch notes.

Welcome to a new year in the tavern, everyone! We have a balance update in the works that will go live later this week which includes the following changes, primarily for Standard and Battlegrounds:

Warlock

Warrior

  • Scion of Ruin : Mana cost increased from (3) to (4) .
  • Ancharrr : Durability reduced from (3) to (2) .

Shaman

  • Dragon's Pack : Now reads, “…If you’ve Invoked twice, give them +2/+2 .” (reduced from +3/+3).
  • Invocation of Frost : Mana cost increased from (1) to (2).

Rogue

Neutral

*Once the update is live, adjusted cards will be eligible for a full Arcane Dust refund for two weeks.

Battlegrounds

This update includes several adjustments and gets more Heroes brawling in Bob’s Tavern than ever before! Further Battlegrounds balance changes are coming very soon, in addition to the exciting new content we have in the pipeline… we’ll have more to share in the near future!

Heroes

Shudderwock

  • Burbling: Cost reduced from (2) to (1) .

Queen Wagtoggle

  • Wax Warband : Give a random friendly Mech, Demon, Murloc and Beast +2 Attack . (instead of +1 Health)

Infinite Toki

  • Temporal Tavern : Cost reduced from (2) to (1) . Now reads, “Refresh Bob’s Tavern. Include a Minion from a higher Tavern Tier.”

Patches the Pirate

  • Has returned to the Battlegrounds Hero Pool.
  • Fire the Cannons! : At the start of next combat, deal 4 damage to two random enemy minions. (increased from 3 damage)

Pyramad

  • Has returned to the Battlegrounds Hero Pool.
  • Brick by Brick : Give a random friendly minion +3 Health . (increased from +2 Health)

Minions

Golden Soul Juggler

  • After a friendly Demon dies, deal 3 damage to a random enemy minion twice . (instead of 6 damage once)

Bug Fixes and Game Improvements

  • Battlegrounds : Selfless Hero’s Deathrattle will now only affect minions that do not already have Divine Shield.
  • Arena : The appearance rate of cards in the draft has been updated to ensure class balance remains close to the ideal 50% win-rate. Specifically, the win-rate of Druid, Hunter, and Paladin should now be decreased. The win-rate of Priest, Rogue, Shaman and Warlock should now be increased. Card appearance rates for Mage and Warrior remain untouched.

Called it on the last set of nerfs (that Shaman wasn't being nerfed enough).   We'll see if these do it.

Patches is going to straight up dominate in early rounds now, still weak later but it'll be awful rng in round 3/4 to face him and lose 12 health.

Infinite Toki goes from badish to extremely good, especially when you get to tier 5.

I'm surprised they buffed Shudderwok...even at 2 mana that was a strong ability.    This may be reverted fast, at 1 mana for a 4/4 buff or double murloc health or whathaveyou, this could get ugly.

Pyramid and Queen Wagtoggle get better, still lower tier for Pyramid, wagtoggle might be a good bit better though since it's easy to get one Divine Shield+taunt mech and throw him in with a demon or beast tribe setup, buffing a DS+taunt minion's attack by 2 each turn is super effective.

Other changes are nice quality of life...a bit surprised they're not buffing Murlocs, the murloc tribe has almost completely disappeared in higher play.

I knew there had to be something done to Wagtoggle and Pyramid. With the thankful chucking of Amalgam, at least Wagtoggle won't be busted, and Pyramid will be possibly not the worst option out there.

Wasn't expecting a Toki change, honestly. Seems a bit too good... Being guaranteed a minion of a tier is why Elise is great, so this is kind of like a turn-ly Elise power.

But HALLELUJAH for that Soul Juggler change. There's been many games where one golden was way worse than two regulars, as late game demons you gotta kill off divine shield—a thing this guy will do brilliantly. Nice change.

And I never knew it was a "bug" that Selfless Hero shouldn't hit already shielded minions. It's how I've always seen that stuff work. RNG is a pain sometimes, but that's practically how the entirety of Battlegrounds goes.

They need to add more minions and minion types.  It’s gotten pretty stale facing essentially the same things over and over.

Im pretty convinced that shudderwock buff wasn't needed at all.

The few times I played with him I always ended up on top of the ladder but aah well...

I wonder when the will finally add more minion types though, was expecting soem dragon types to be added 
with the descend of dragons expansion
