All Gear from Horrific Visions Will Be Corrupted Starting March 17/18

Starting with next week's resets (March 17th/18th) all the gear rewards from Horrific Visions will be Corrupted! Blizzard have listened to the community outcries for more Corrupted gear sources and made the Visions the primary place to go for them. If you're one of the many players that didn't get quite lucky enough with good corrupted items, it's about to get easier!

Blizzard LogoHorrific Vision Rewards (source)

Beginning with scheduled weekly maintenance in each region the week of March 17, all gear rewards from Horrific Visions will be Corrupted.

We’ve heard from many players that Corrupted items were not obtainable enough, limiting their ability to play with the system and its inherent tradeoffs. This change will substantially increase the number of Corrupted items reliably earned each week, allowing players to choose from among a greater selection of Corrupted pieces and enjoy using those that work best in a given situation.

Great news! Corruption is actually a really fun system but, just like Essences (too difficult to get on alts) and Azerite (too difficult to get at first), it is simply too rare in order for people to really be able to experiment and go wild with its trade-offs, you are mostly forced into using whatever stuff drops and be at the mercy of RNG to determine if you got a good one or not.

Hopefully this is learned for Shadowlands: gear systems only matter if you get enough gear to be able to CHOOSE between options. Otherwise it is nothing but a "did you get lucky with your Legendary / Azerite / Corruption drop?" slot machine.

Not to mention how ridiculously overpowered some choices are compared to others, like stacking Infinite Stars pieces in order to decrease the time required to ramp up to 10 stacks. The complete lack of testing shows when they don't give something like that a shared PPM.

I still think they should make a majority of the Essences account bound specially the corruption factor of gear is relatively based on RNG per drop.  But this is good news when I run with 4 masks again in Stormwind on Tuesday that piece of gear will be auto corrupted. 🙂

Yeah balance has been pretty bad recently 😞

For sure! I'm gearing a new alt right now and although I got 76 neck in just three days, I still only have 6 essences and all of them are rank 1s (doing crucible qs today)...not good!

Right, running H EP on an alt for weeks to rank up CLF to be fully effective in Nyalotha isn't a rewarding gameplay experience.

I wish they'd take a tuning pass at all the obviously sub-par essences.      They're continuously nerfing stars/devastation/etc but the bad ones will remain bad.     "Yay, proccing a versatility buff once a minute" said no one ever.

I am good with the change.  More opportunities for corrupted swaps are needed.  For a final patch the gear doesnt flow fast at all for alt gearing, and the corruption should be more consistent, and at least this source is permanent now.

Well, pretty much all of this could've been said about the Legion Legendary system as well, but there at the end they added a Legendary vendor, so I could boost my alts with items farmed by my main. I personally don't mind the level of RNG involved as long as I can transfer a tiny bit of my main characters power to my toons, but in the current system I feel like I'm stuck with my druid even if I'd love to try how a reasonably geared hunter or paladin fares in the current meta.

So an Essence vendor (1 random BoA Essence = 750 War Resources, 1 specific BoA Essence = 1500 War Resources) would've been useful. I think Ashjra'kamas has some catch-up mechanism so Corruption can be easier to mitigate on alts, but Essences are just as hard to get on alt as on main, and that is the problem.

I don't think essences should be account wide but I do think a vendor would have worked. Right now the grind feels cut in half for alts, it should be 1/10th or lower.

Rextroy is back after a bit of a soloing absence, and he's gotten some gear ready in 8.3 - so naturally it was time to head into the current raid and solo a boss! Prophet Skitra is the second or third boss of the raid, depending on whether you pick her or Maut after Wrathion, and in this World First video we get a little extra explanation on how he did it by Rextroy (head to 5:36 in the video for that part).

You can also check out our in-depth interview with the man himself, as he goes over some of his more controversial tactics and discusses the difference between an exploit and creative use of game mechanics, as he had a bit of experience with the subject after being banned and unbanned for a solo kill he did (the 0.5 second Vectis kill).

There are some pretty cool discoveries he had to make about the boss mechanics to pull it off so it's definitely worth a watch:

Starting with next week's reset (March 31st/April 1st), all Legion instances will be getting legacy loot rules, aka more loot drops for when there's fewer players. This means you'll be getting random loot not specific to your class, but there will be plenty more of it for those transmog runs.

Check out the full explanation below:
      Legion Legacy Loot (source)
With scheduled weekly maintenance the week of March 31, we’re enabling Legacy loot rules in Legion raids and dungeons.
We’re reached that point in an expansion where the content from the previous expansion no longer requires a full group, and the rewards are primarily sought by transmog collectors. With this change, Legion raid and dungeon encounters will drop a fixed quantity of class-agnostic loot. Today, if you and one other player enter Emerald Nightmare on Mythic difficulty and kill Nythendra, it’s unlikely that you’ll receive any loot, since drop rates normally scale to the number of players. After this change, Nythendra will always drop 5 items from her loot table, regardless of your group size.
Dungeons and many of the lower-difficulty raid bosses in Legion are already soloable by well-equipped Battle for Azeroth characters, though some bosses, especially on Mythic difficulty, may still require you to bring a few friends. Nonetheless, this should amount to a great increase in the availability of Legion transmog gear.
      See you there!
