Multiboxing Bans Have Begun

Recommended Posts

When they announced the end of input broadcasting software (not multiboxing itself), Blizzard mentioned they'd be easing into it, with warnings and a grace period. Well, it seems that period is over! We already covered the actual warnings going out about two weeks ago, and now it seems is the time when they escalate into bans, as LetMeSpoilThisForU explains the situation for one particular multiboxer:

was posted on the Earthshaker (EU) discord.

The guy is a well known 20+ char multiboxer on that server who just got all of his chars perma banned. The pic only shows 8 of his accounts, but he said its all of them. He obviously didnt want to stop using keystroke replicating software, so blizz just acted.

If you also got people like this on your server, keep reporting, blizzard is actually doing something against them now.

So it seems some multiboxers just can't let go of their old tools, while we've seen others adapt and move to hardware options, event beating M+9 keys with them.

It seems Blizzard's detection is working at least, and they're willing to go through with actual bans, so if you're multiboxing, make sure you're not using input broadcasting software. It also remains to be seen if this is the limit of Blizzard's modifications to the way multiboxing works, as the other methods used could also become problematic later down the line.

Here's the relevant part of the announcement.

We will soon begin issuing warnings to all players who are detected using input broadcasting software to mirror commands to multiple accounts at the same time (often used for multi-boxing). With these warnings, we intend to notify players that they should not use this software while playing World of Warcraft. Soon thereafter, the warnings will escalate to account actions, which can include suspension and, if necessary, permanent closure of the player's World of Warcraft account(s). We strongly advise you to cease using this type of software immediately to maintain uninterrupted access to World of Warcraft.

And if you want to check the... colorful replies on the subject you can head on over to the WoW Classic reddit thread.

Oh the lovely ban hammer, really nice to see they act not just talk! After multiboxers just need some more agression versus group finder advertisers, I hate them sooo much (who is not? I suppose).

This week's Patch 9.1.5 PTR build has arrived! The Available in Eight Colors achievement is now account-wide, Timebound Ruminations now boost your Companion to level 30 instead of granting 5,000 XP, and more.
Available in Eight Colors – This Achievement is now account-wide and grants all color options for the X-995 Mechanocat mount to all characters on your account. Dungeons and Raids
Timewalking New: Legion Timewalking Timewalking Mage Tower Testing of this feature will be available for 24 hours, starting October 21 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. Visit this forum thread for submitting your feedback on this feature. Items and Rewards
Timebound Ruminations – Set an Adventures companion to level 30. Requires one companion to reach level 40. Cannot be used on companions level 30 and above (was grants 5000 experience points directly to a Adventures companion of your choice). (This change will be available in a later PTR build) Developers’ note: After reading player feedback feeling that the Anima cost was too high for the amount of companion experience granted, we made changes to the item to set the companion to level 30 instead. The original design of the item was intended to be a supplemental augment to get companions through very low levels quickly, and not to be replacement for interacting with the system. Upon further inspection after player feedback, we agree that cost was too high for 5000 XP and made the changes to be a level boost to 30 instead.

The upcoming "Sylvanas" book by Christie Golden will be delayed and out on March 29, 2022, instead of February 22, which gives us a pretty solid hint at when we could expect Patch 9.2 to go live.
Christie Golden is currently writing a book about Sylvanas. It was supposed to come out on February 22, 2022, according to Amazon, but today, those who pre-ordered the novel received an e-mail about the delay.
It's reasonable to assume that Blizzard would like to have Patch 9.2 up on live servers when the book releases, as it possibly includes some interesting story spoilers. It also happens that March 29, 2022, is Tuesday, as pointed out by @Tyrsenus.
