Castle Nathria DPS Log Rankings and Analysis Week 4

Recommended Posts

Here we are in week 4 of Castle Nathria, as a solid number of guilds has cleared the full Mythic raid and we get to look at the logs once again! The Enhancement Shaman bug has been removed and the spec is back in the bottom middle of the pack, as Balance pushes all the way to the top! We'll be going over the Mythic data mostly and take a final look at Heroic, with a look at the top and bottom spec for Mages and my own poor Fury Warriors as well.

Let's start with the Mythic 95th percentile:

Followed by all percentiles:

And here's two of out class guide writers to analyze the giant discrepancies between the top and bottom Mage specs, as they're incredibly far apart:

Fire Mage by Dutchmagoz:

Quote

Fire is currently the best performing Mage spec, and a top 5 spec amongst all classes.

There are various reasons for this:

  • Fire unlocking double potency conduit slots early due to being Night Fae while having 2 very good potency conduits.
  • Having a 1 minute burst window which lines up well with a lot of fights.
  • Having BiS items available via predictable sources, like the PvP trinket being very good and able to be gotten to 220 item level with just 1800 rating in Arena or Ranked Battlegrounds.

Overall, Fire will probably drop down a little bit over time as everyone gets their double potency Soulbinds unlocked and other classes start getting their BiS items, but it will most likely remain amongst a top 5-10 spec in Castle for the remainder of the tier unless there are balance changes.

Frost Mage by Kuni:

Quote

There isn't really much positive to say about Frost's performance in Castle Nathria. It was kneecapped by an unwarranted nerf just before launch, and the current state is entirely predictable. At the current balance between Frost and Fire, this is almost the worst the spec disparity has been since Cataclysm, when Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest didn't work for Frost. Sadly it will stay where it is unless Blizzard deems a second round of tuning adjustments is needed.

The one fight style that it might at least be acceptable at doesn't exist in Castle Nathria. However, there is also no reason that Glacial Fragments Glacial Fragments should account for around 40% of your damage on a multi-target fight, and less than 1% on single. Glacial Fragments should very likely be nerfed and the base kit of Frost brought up about 15%.

Fury Warrior by Archimtiros:

Quote

Fury is in an awkward spot, as it is severely under tuned from a single target perspective, yet remains one of the most fluid and entertaining specs due to its high pace and constant engagement.

The one place it does perform well is Mythic+, because although it still lags behind in boss damage, the legendary Signet of Tormented Kings Signet of Tormented Kings contributes a great deal of constant AOE damage against trash packs, which typically matters more. Unfortunately, Fury still isn’t meta for the highest keys, lacking the personal survivability, group utility, and raw burst provided by more sought after specs, but it is more than capable of keeping up in damage while farming +15 for gear.

And here's a final look at the Heroic data, as we'll be moving exclusively to Mythic from now on:

Well, you can't make these kinds of stories up. The WoW Charity Pet program reached its final goal today as one million dollars has been raised for Doctors Without Borders, but the story gets even better.
The final donation that brought the total over $1,000,000 came in from a couple of souls currently seeking redemption in the Shadowlands, or more accurately, their voice. Arthas and Garrosh voice actor Patrick Seitz was the final donation that brought the total over the cap, and seems to have donated over 1,400$, based on some of his comments!
He is referring to the top fundraisers list in that second tweet, where "Anduin" is sitting pretty in second place, and unfortunately we don't get to see Garrosh up there, due to a login mixup.

After talking about a photoshopped image of a Garrosh-sloth merge, one of of his followers obliged:
Steve Danuser (Narrative Lead) and Christie Golden (Senior Writer) spotted the tweet and had some comments on Arthas and Garrosh trying to buy their way to redemption:

So, it seems whatever it is that the Venthyr are doing to Garrosh and the torments Arthas is enduring in Torghast are pushing them to do some good things, even int he real world! Also, big thanks to our own Aernath for spotting the tweets in the first place!

The WoW community has done it, raising $1 million for Doctors Without Borders! This also means that Daisy the Sloth will be unlocked for everyone starting on April 23rd!
      Charity Pet Program (source)
Congratulations! $1 Million USD was generously donated to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) by the World of Warcraft community! The Daisy, the Sloth goal has been reached and she will become available to modern World of Warcraft players for free as soon as possible on April 23 from within the Blizzard Shop.
Be sure to claim Daisy and Bananas before August 1, 2021 in North and South America (August 2 in Europe, Russia and Asia)! After this date, Daisy will be available to purchase in the in-game shop or in the Blizzard Shop and Bananas will no longer be available.
Your generosity to the MSF COVID-19 Crisis Fund will enable urgently needed medical care and support in more than 70 countries to counter the new coronavirus disease. Thank you for your global efforts in raising the funds to support MSF’s COVID-19 response activities worldwide during the WoW Charity Pet Program.

More hotfixes arrive this week, both for retail and Classic, including some raid and Mythic+ fixes as well as Chronoboon and a trinket getting some attention.
      April 22 (source)
      Dungeons and Raids
Castle Nathria Deplina’s Bottled Anima is now recorded in the combat log. Sanguine Depths Infused Quill-feather now grant a stack of Sinfall Boon when defeated near an Anima Cage. Player versus Player
Warrior Arms War Banner (PvP Talent) will no longer interrupt party members' channeled casts. WoW Classic
The Chronoboon Displacer can now suspend and restore all of Sayge's Dark Fortunes. Fixed an issue where the Eye of the Dead trinket on-use effect was being consumed by helpful spells, such as Mark of the Wild and Prayer of Fortitude.
