Today, we are looking at the most popular DPS for Mythic+ in Shadowlands Season 1, one week after Patch 9.0.5 went live.

DATA RELIABILITY: The data used in this article comes from benched.me. Reddit user OtherwiseUniversity7 plotted all keys available from the Blizzard API (excluding the CN region) on a single ridge plot to gather the data.

This Week's Affixes

This figure shows the number of Mythic+ runs recorded each week since the start of BfA Season 4.

Total Runs Recorded

We've looked at the total runs recorded for each DPS spec during the fifteenth week of Mythic Season 1. Based on the numbers, we filtered out the most popular ranged and melee DPS specializations. We will be looking at tanks and healers next Sunday.

Most Popular Melee DPS for Mythic+

The most popular melee spec is Unholy Death Knight, followed by Havoc Demon Hunter (2nd) and Outlaw Rogue (3rd). Fourth is Retribution Paladin, and in fifth place, we have Windwalker MonkFury Warrior swapped places with Arms this week. The remaining melee specs are unchanged compared to last week, including the bottom ones.

  • 1st: Unholy Death Knight - 2,487,256 runs
  • 2nd: Havoc Demon Hunter - 2,066,438 runs
  • 3rd: Outlaw Rogue - 2,028,944 runs
  • 4th: Retribution Paladin - 1,851,771 runs
  • 5th: Windwalker Monk - 1,799,472 runs
  • 6th: Fury Warrior - 1,554,660 runs
  • 7th: Arms Warrior - 1,459,459 runs
  • 8th: Subtlety Rogue - 1,027,651 runs
  • 9th: Enhancement Shaman - 1,013,431 runs
  • 10th: Feral Druid - 448,091 runs
  • 11th: Frost Death Knight - 431,310 runs
  • 12th: Assassination Rogue - 155,442 runs
  • 13th: Survival Hunter - 130,557 runs

Detailed Look at Spec Performance

The meta starts kicking in at around +16, where most specs start losing their share of representation to the metaclasses. Some non-meta specs stay stable in mid-range keys and only begin disappearing at higher levels.

Share of Melee DPS Specs at Each Key Level (Weekly Top 500 Runs)

To see how the meta changes during the season, we sample the top 50 runs for each dungeon (a total of 6,000 keys) for each week. Next, we count the number of times each spec appears in the weekly top 500 sample.

The data has a zig-zag quality to it. Spec numbers go up and down each week, which is the Tyrannical/Fortified split effect. On Tyrannical weeks, pushers are likely to bench their meta-class mains and play non-meta alts.

Cache of Timewarped Treasures obtained from Black Temple Timewalking quest this week has a chance to contain Ashes of Al'ar!
Don't forget to complete this week's Timewalking raid! If you're having trouble getting into a group, create your own one, invite 2 tanks 4-5 healers and around 14 DPS and you are all set! Visit Shattrath, and talk to the Timewalking NPC to queue up for the raid.
The raid is extremely easy to compete and what's more, you get item level 493 loot along your way.
Upon defeating Illidan Stormrage and completing the quest, you will receive Cache of Timewarped Treasures that has an increased chance of containing Ashes of Al'ar or another piece of gear.
Demon Hunters shouldn't forget to get their warglaives transmog arsenal from Illidan and the reputation buff will help you add a couple of mounts to your collection!

Tama's Dragonflight Helper is a Weakaura that displays a weekly to-do list in the game and it's been updated for Dragonflight Season 4!
The WeakAura is very useful for keeping track of everything in the game at max level. It shows you a to-do list with the weekly tasks, provides you with the locations of rares, super rares, information about your current Renown standing, and more.

You will find Tama's Dragonflight Helper at wago.io. Please note that you must first download and install WeakAuras 2 to import the string.

Cataclysm's Grim Batol has been added to the Mythic+ Dungeon rotation in The War Within Season 1, and one boss received a brand new model recently on the Alpha.
General Umbriss, the first boss of the dungeon, got a shiny new model, which is quite different from his previous one. Below is a screenshot of the old a new model.

Blizzard have clarified why players are able to get a full Spark of Awakening through the two available Splinters in the first week of Dragonflight Season 4, and it seems it's only for this week and only due to catch-up rules being enabled!
      Splintered Spark (Source)
Just want to confirm this with some details.
Everyone essentially started Season 4 in catch-up mode. Players were able to get 1 Splintered Spark of Awakening from the weekly quest, whether that’s the weekly “Last Hurrah” quest or the PvP weeklies offered by Malicia.
And then you’re able to get another splinter / half-spark from any valid catch-up sources, such as Mythic+, Awakened Raids, and PvP wins.
Next week and thereafter, only one Splintered Spark is obtainable every week. And like Seasons 2 and 3, with the increasing cap on Splintered Sparks per week, and if you ever fall behind you will be able to get Splintered Sparks from any catch-up source.
