Shadowlands Season 2 Mythic+ DPS Log Rankings, Week 1: The Kings in Yellow

Recommended Posts

SheWDtn.jpg

It's finally time to look at the REAL Mythic+ Season 2 with the new affix! Lots of changes arrive as the king of Shadowlands has left the throne (but didn't go quite as far down as in raids) and the yellow team takes over! An important thing to note is that these are the logs for the past week and DO NOT include the hotfixes that went live yesterday/today, aka the Hunter, Fire and Affliction buffs and Shadow nerfs. There's also the new legendaries coming in for some specs this week, so there should be a lot of changes coming in next week's overview.

Note: The logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.

This past week was Tyrannical Tyrannical, Raging RagingVolcanic Volcanic (and Tormented Tormented for the first time).

All Keys

While one king has indeed departed, the prince has taken over and brought his cousin with him! The top 2 are all yellow but unfortunately Assassination did not get the invitation, as it sits in the middle of the pack. Arcane rounds out the top 3 but the spec has been pretty volatile, going up and down a lot in the expansion, so we'll have to see if it holds. Fire is still hanging around the top 10, but both its fellow specs have outperformed it (for now before the buffs), while Windwalker fell a little from last week when it had Pride available. Fury is back and rising, and should see much higher placements as the gear starts to ramp up, while Balance dropped. On the bottom side of things Affliction is really having a bad time in all PvE activities, and that 5% buff doesn't look like it will help that much.

The all percentiles bracket is very similar to the top one, with Balance holding on a little higher and Fire dropping a LOT lower, actually quite surprisingly, as it's usually the general population that holds on to that top meta spec longer.

High Keys

The +15s used to be the real benchmark in Season 1 but that is a little different in the early days of Season 2, while the average gear is still mostly stuck in S1. In any case, in this bracket we see the prince take over the crown, as Subtlety has one of its many upswings - but will it hold on next week? Arms is the biggest outlier here, in 3rd place, as Havoc has actually been very regularly high-ranked in the higher keys, so it's not surprising to see it in 5th. The Rogues are generally doing really well in the high keys as we can see, while Druids are having a bad week (which should change for Balance, but as for Feral... well, we'll see).

We'll actually be skipping the +20 keys again, as there have been VERY few clears there (as expected) and the rankings a re looking... well, jut take a look at this mess:

It might take a while for enough players to re-gear up to get that high again, so we might focus on somewhat lower keys next week to compensate.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides or our extensive Mythic+ guides as well, which have tier lists, dungeon rankings and more.

Is it wrong that I'm REALLY happy with that title?

Depends on whether it was intended as a cultural reference or as a nod to rogues.

Both! Although less cultural, more True Detective.

Warbands are pretty great and solve a lot of issues players have had in previous expansions, but "just" making most things account-wide and offering a separate bank, among other things, wasn't enough!
As MrGM found out, there's a new set of achievements aimed at helping players with alts, as each character you get to level 80 (the new maximum in the expansion) will give you a 5% experience boost for the next characters you level. The  Warband Mentors: The War Within set of achievements even stacks up to 5 times, so each subsequent character you get to 80 will increase the buff, all the way to 25%! The buff is Warband-wide, so any character you level after that will get the buff.

Making it easier to level alts is always a welcome change, and this is really making us love Warbands even more!

Here's another nice addition to the game coming in the new expansion, with some really interesting mole mounts being added! Keyboardturn found all their variations and their mount special animations as well, so let's take a look.
      And here's the mount special:

Unfortunately ground mounts are getting very out-classed with the Dynamic Riding feature, but we're still hoping for that rumored dynamic ground mounts feature! Perhaps these could dig down and move below ground?

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas has confirmed that the Dracthyr race will have more class options in The War Within. However, this feature may not be ready in time for the expansion's launch.
This update was highlighted in a tweet by MrGM, who shared insights from a London content creator interview about the Dracthyr.
The plan is to introduce the ability for Dracthyr to play as other classes in War Within. Emphasis on playing in Visage form. Required animations for other classes are actively being worked on. The implementation is unlikely to happen at launch, but targeted for early in the expansion cycle. Placeholder for tweet 1780748422066188399
