9.1.5 Season 2 Mythic+ DPS, Tank and Healer Log Rankings, Week 2: Fire Bounces Back, Subtlety Analysis

Recommended Posts

OZktG4t.jpg

The second week of 9.1.5 sees the refusal of Fire, as the spec just will not go away, even when all the other specs got its toys (mostly)! We also see Subtlety completely dominate all brackets as it moves in to No.1 across the board, and our guide writer discusses why.

Note: The logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.

These past week was Tyrannical Tyrannical, Bursting Bursting, Volcanic Volcanic and Tormented Tormented).

All Keys

95th percentile

It seems you can't keep Fire down, even after giving some of its power in the form of less-capped AoE to other specs, at it's bounced back from last week's rather steep drop and made its way back to No.4, rising 2 spots. The top 3 remains the same as Frost solidifies its gains after the patch, and is looking to be one damn solid spec now. Shadow actually moved quite a bit here, as it eclipses Fire's rise by hopping 3 slots up into 7th, with Fury moving up one behind it, as both push Outlaw down to the end of the top 10. At the bottom Demonology and Feral are making some escape attempts, but it's all mostly remaining the same.

All Percentiles

Speaking of fiery comebacks... The more generalist rankings are usually averse to change but this is a little extreme even for them, as Fire just refuses to stay dead, no matter what happens. It' back in the top 3 here, jumping 4 spots and even surpassing Frost, while Shadow wins the most improved badge for the week here, rising 6 spots into 6th. Elemental pushes Marksmanship down one to close out the top 10, and Demo and Destro are making a break for it from the very last 2 spots they were locked up in last week.

High Keys

+15 Keys

I see the 15 keys are a relaxing place, like Thanos' garden at the end of Infinity War, where there's balance and peace (without the whole universal genocide aspect), with every spec from top to bottom being ridiculously close. Subtletly still reigns supreme here though, as Fury climbs into 2nd, and Havoc is the big mover, claiming 3rd. Fire didn't drop as much as in the other brackets last week here, and so it doesn't need a comeback and actually drops 1 spot, as Windwalkers got pushed out by the Warrior and DH.

+20 Keys

The 20ies have stopped being so chaotic for a while now, but we do see a change at the top once again, as Subtletly now claims all the brackets' top spots, which is appropriate since we're taking a deeper look at the spec today. Fire dropped one here as well, as Fury took its spot in the top 3, while the rest remained mostly stable, and Demonology jumped the highest, seemingly motivated by its dead last spot last week - rising a huge 10 spots!

Analysis

Subtlety Rogue by Ashine

Buffs to Subtlety in 9.1, the addition of Sylvanas daggers and now getting uncapped AoE on their abilities in 9.1.5 have made Subtlety Rogues one of the best specializations in the game for high Mythic+ keys.

The major reason why Subtlety is such a dominant spec right now is mainly because of high tuning and having very flexible damage profile. Subtlety has decent sustained AoE (especially now after the AoE uncapping) along with some of the best single-target damage in the entire game, that can be further amplified by "funneling", which is often fairly easy to do in Mythic+.
Funneling means using 3 or more targets to generate resources faster, allowing you to do some absurd single-target damage.

The nature of short cooldowns on both Symbols of Death Symbols of Death and Shadow Dance Shadow Dance charges allows us to have damage constantly, rather than being limited by longer cooldowns. The only real weakness Subtlety has when it comes to dealing damage is short burst windows (especially on Aoe) and 2-3 target cleave.

All three Rogue specializations bring immense amounts of utility to the Mythic+ group, with the most important one being AoE Stealth (Shroud of Concealment Shroud of Concealment) which can be very valuable to skip mobs that are hard/bad to deal with. On top of that Rogues bring nice utility abilities like Sap Sap, Blind Blind, Cheap Shot Cheap Shot, Kidney Shot Kidney Shot and defensive abilities like Vanish Vanish, Cloak of Shadows Cloak of Shadows and Evasion Evasion which all three can be used to negate or cheese a lot of abilities in Mythic+.

Combining both the offensive and defensive capabilities along with some unique utility, it is no surprise that Subtlety finds itself as one of the best in Mythic+.

Tanks and Healers

After last week's shakeup at the top of the tank rankings, we see the cycle going back to normal, meaning no changes for a while. Guardians retain their crown, but Brewmasters are looking a lot better this week.

Healers haven't changed for a long time now, and this remains the case this week as well, so we'll go back to checking in on the two roles a bit less frequently.

The limited time Remix event just got a lot less deadly, as Blizzard fix another bug. Certain high level boss abilities were doing double damage, but a hotfix has cleared that all up!

With a hotfix that we applied a few minutes ago, we’ve fixed a bug that was causing some high-level boss abilities to unintentionally do double damage to players.
For players who have been inside an instance since before the hotfix went out, there will be no change until you leave and start a new instance.
Thank you for your reports and feedback!

Players without the Dragonflight expansion have been having trouble after reaching level 60in the MoP Remix event. Their characters would become locked, as levels 60 and up were part of the Dragonflight expansion, so there was quite a bit of confusion since the event wasn't supposed to require the latest expansion.
Luckily Blizzard have now clarified that this was a bug, and have since resolved it!

We believe that this issue has been fixed with an update that we deployed with realm restarts earlier this morning.

Our latest mount preview from the War Within Alpha covers Shadow Elementals. KSM mounts, anyone?
Blizzard hasn't officially confirmed any KSM mounts for War Within yet, but we've already seen two tints for the upcoming Gladiator mounts. It wouldn't surprise us if these turn out to be War Within Keystone Master mounts for the upcoming seasons. So far, we have three tints: black, gold, and purple.
