Introducing the Dracthyr Evoker Class in Dragonflight

Recommended Posts

Dracthyr placers will be able to roll a new class called the Evoker in Dragonflight.

You will find a separate preview of the Dracthyr Race in our latest post.

Dracthyr Evoker is World of Warcraft's first race/class combo. It has two specializations. The healer one is called Preservation and the ranged DPS one is Devastation.

Dragonflight introduces a new race and class in one known as the dracthyr Evoker, allowing players to play as a dragon (one that can still fit in a raid without crushing your allies.) This hero class begins at level 58 and will have its own starting zone. Players will be able to choose their alignment with the Horde or Alliance at character creation and will be able to take advantage of a slew of new customizations that allow them to match their dragon form closely with their humanoid visage.

Dracthyr Evokers were created by Neltharion to wield the magic of all five dragonflights providing a very distinctive style of spell casting. You’ll be able to see the coalescence of these powers each time you cast. Evokers also have two distinctive specializations which take advantage of these magic types. Devastation is a DPS-focused specialization that utilizes the fast explosive power of the red dragonflight and the more focused and overwhelming magic of the blue dragonflight. Preservation serves as a healing specialization and utilizes the healing power of the green dragonflight and its more nurturing spells, while also using the power of the bronze dragonflight to manipulate time to accomplish feats such as healing wounds faster.

We’re also introducing a new type of spell called Empower. Players will be able to hold down a button on their keyboard to power up a spell. The longer you charge the spell, the more damage it could do or the more targets the spell could hit.

Dracthyr Evokers can wield the magic of all 5 dragonflights. The healing spec focuses on green and bronze magic. It's evocative of the Emerald Dream, your growth, and nurturing spells. You will learn more about Dracthyr Evokers in the video below.

Blizzard: Hey can I copy your homework?

Arenanet: Sure, just make it look different so that it doesn't look like you just coppied it.

Blizzard: Sure!

On one hand, great. On the other hand though, we'll have disgusting Scalies who think they're clever with Bad Dragon jokes

To some people, Blizzard can never do right. Everything I've seen has been incredible.

Can you blame them though? The last 2 expansions were just garbage, a far cry from the Blizz of old. As paying customers, they have every right to say that

Unlike GW2, I'm willing to pay them $60 for it. And after all Blizzard has done, that is saying something about GW2.

So Cata/BFA were for the furries (worgen/Vulpera) and now we have something for the scallies... balanced I guess?

NGL the Ony style deep breath looks cool, and I look forward to trying it out.

"Players will be able to choose their alignment with the Horde or Alliance at character creation"

That sucks. Can we please move past this? What harm would it do to have the character be neutral to both factions and form groups with any players? They could at least have done it so people had the option to mess about playing the game how they want like that neutral panda guy.

Yes, and I have the right to voice the opinion that I find such commentary tiresome and unhelpful.

The new War Within Allied Races was added to the Alpha today and we already have a full look at not only all their customization options, but their dances as well, courtesy of MrGM! You can check out the Earthen's racial abilities here if you missed them earlier.
Let's start with the more dynamic feature, with both male and female dances:
And then there's big amount of customization options, as well as a size comparison with regular dwarves:

So, are we liking the new Allied Race overall? More than actual dwarves?

Here's a really cool possibility for the War Within, as a very subtle and mildly mysterious comment from Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, may be hinting at our Warband characters getting a lot more involved in our travels!
First spotted by UlthansWrath, Longdale came up to Taliesin & Evitel at the recent London War Within Alpha press event and had a short chat about the Warband screen, when she casually said "wouldn't it be cool if those were the characters you took as your followers in your Follower Dungeons?" After the obvious confirmation from Taliesin and Evitel that, yes, yes it would be cool, she just said "hm" and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but considering this is a really awesome idea, it seems likely Blizzard are at the very least discussing it, if not already working on it.

The Warband system is already great, and this would add a lot to it for players that choose to go solo into dungeons, as it would give them even more motivation to get some great characters in their Warband - even if it was just a cosmetic option.
So, what do you think, will we be seeing this feature when the War Within launches?
