Microsoft posted a blog post sharing their view on the Activision Blizzard acquisition. They also revealed that Overwatch, Diablo, Call of Duty, Candy Crush, and Starcraft, are coming to the Game Pass.
The largest and fastest-growing gaming segment is mobile platforms. Microsoft is expanding choice in two ways: through the creation of Game Pass, which gives players a subscription option and by bringing more games to mobile platforms.
Developing mobile games requires new capabilities and the expertise that the teams at Activision Blizzard bring in developing mobile games will help Microsoft understand how to create games that engage players around the world.
The most important portion confirms that multiple Activision Blizzard titles will become part of the Game Pass, Diablo 4 potentially on Day 1.
"We intend to make Activision Blizzard’s much-loved library of games – including Overwatch, Diablo, and Call of Duty – available in Game Pass and to grow those gaming communities. By delivering even more value to players, we hope to continue growing Game Pass, extending its appeal to mobile phones and any connected device."
CEO of Microsoft Gaming
Even though World of Warcraft wasn't specifically mentioned by Phil Spencer in the blog post, it's shown in the header image. At this time, we do not know if WoW will be included in the Game Pass.

Blizzard Entertainment has acquired Spellbreak Development Studio Proletariat to beef up the staff on World of Warcraft. Its team of 100 people will start working on WoW, including the Dragonflight expansion coming later this year, according to Venture Beat.
President of Blizzard Entertainment Mike Ybarra said in a statement that "Proletariat were a perfect fit for supporting Blizzard's mission in bringing high-quality content to the players more often."
"We are putting players at the forefront of everything we do, and we are working hard to both meet and exceed their expectations."
"A big part of caring for our teams is making sure we have the resources to produce experiences our communities will love while giving our teams space to explore even more creative opportunities within their projects. Proletariat is a perfect fit for supporting Blizzard’s mission in bringing high-quality content to our players more often.”
President of Blizzard Entertainment
World of Warcraft General Manager John Hight commented that they "need to increase the frequency at which they deliver WoW updates" and that "Proletariat were an easy decision, as they have a large remote work force."
“As you probably are aware, folks in World of Warcraft have a voracious appetite for content and what we’ve seen over the last year is that we need to increase the amount of content that we can create, and the frequency with which we’re putting it in the hands of our players.”
“That’s one of the things that made this decision easy for us to start working with Proletariat, as they have a large remote work force".
General Manager of World of Warcraft
In response to the acqusition, the Spellbreak Development team posted an update on the future of their battle-royale game Spellbreak,
Spellbreak's development will end and servers will go offline in early 2023, as Proletariat will be fully integrated into Blizzard Entertainment in the coming months.
After more than four years of elemental magic and spell combinations, we’ve made the decision to end development of Spellbreak. The servers will be shut down as of early 2023. Thank you to the millions of players who have joined us in the Hollow Lands since 2018; it’s been an amazing journey.
Our vision was to create a fresh, multiplayer action-spellcasting game with exceptional movement and class customization that would give players the chance to unleash their inner battlemage. We are grateful to everyone in the game’s community for exploring the magical worlds and experiences we created together. Spellbreak was an ambitious project that saw our team push new boundaries in design and development and we are excited to continue to innovate as we create new titles in the future.
To all Spellbreak fans around the world, thank you for the support and dedication that made the game and community so special.

In this post, we're looking at how to find out you've been invited to a Beta!
Make sure to opt-in for Beta for a chance to get invited.
Dragonflight Beta Wrath Classic Beta Diablo 4 Beta (The D4 Beta says "sign up for updates" instead of "opt in for beta" which may sound confusing; thanks to @TyZone for mentioning). Overwatch 2 PvP Beta Step 2
Now that you've opted in for Beta, how do you find out you've been invited to the testing? There are two options available.
Launch the Battle.net app. Visit the appropriate game tab, open the "Game Version" dropdown and check if there are any new "In Development" versions available to you.
In our specific scenario, we can see "Wrath of the Lich King Classic Beta" is available for download and play, which means we've been invited to the testing.
Check your Battle.net email. Mails are often delayed and do not arrive at the same time when you are invited to Beta, which is why we recommend Option 1. The mail will arrive from a verified Blizzard mail address, so make sure to verify the mail address ends in "@blizzard.com" to avoid scams.
Please note that Blizzard will never ask for your password and no keys are being given away at this time that grant Beta access. Invites are currently bound to Battle.net accounts! Don't fall for anyone selling Beta keys!
We have new information coming out of a GamerBraves interview with Art director Jeremy Collins and Senior Software Engineer Andy Lim, as they explain that the game will not feature loot boxes or NFTs. Many players were concerned as the game wasn't available in Belgium, where there are strict laws aginst loot boxes and similar mechanics, but with Blizzard's clarification that may change before it is released.
“There’s no loot box mechanics or anything like that in the game. If you want to purchase a unit, you basically scroll down to the bottom of the store, we have various different bundle sizes, you buy a bundle coin and spend it exactly on what you want because it is already in your store and you can buy it right then. So there’s no conjecture on what you’re getting at the end of the day.”
They have also confirmed that there will be no NFTs in the game. We didn’t expect that there would be, but it’s good to know that there won’t.
There's plenty more information on the game in the interview, from the 5 families you can choose, the PvE focus and 70 missions, the differences between it and Clash Royal, and more, so make sure to read the whole thing over at GamerBraves.
