Earlier today, Leeroy Jenkins and Starving Buzzard were changed. The cards still have exactly the same card text as before, but Leeroy Jenkins now costs 5 mana (up from 4) and Starving Buzzard now costs 5 mana (up from 2) and has 3 attack (up from 2) and 2 health (up from 1).

We will be adjusting our Hunter decks in the next few days, but not immediately, because Poyo and I are currently wrapping up the first part of our Diablo III section (which should go live tomorrow or the day after) and because we need to test decks properly before publishing them. In the meantime, we are going to add a warning at the beginning of all the decks that use these two cards.

Blizzard Icon Hearthstone Patch Notes - 1.2.0.6485

In this Hearthstone patch, we're addressing some bugs as well as making balance changes to Leeroy Jenkins and Starving Buzzard. To view our in-depth explanation on the Leeroy Jenkins and Starving Buzzard changes, please visit our forum thread here.

The full patch notes are below!

Card Changes

5NS1YNXX74571411075161384.png
  • Leeroy Jenkins (Neutral) now costs 5 (up from 4)
    • Leeroy Jenkins created a strategy that revolved around trying to defeat your opponent in one turn without requiring any cards on the board. We like having a variety of deck types but taking 20+ damage in one turn is not very fun or interactive.
    • The amount of dust that you get from disenchanting Leeroy Jenkins has been temporarily increased such that it is equal to the amount of dust that it would have originally cost to craft it.

  • Starving Buzzard (Hunter) now costs 5 (up from 2) and now has 3 Attack and 2 Health (up from 2 Attack and 1 Health)
    • The amount of cards Starving Buzzard allowed Hunter players to draw ultimately ended up being too excessive for its low cost. This change will allow the Hunter’s opponent more time to react to both the Starving Buzzard and the cards drawn by its power.

Bug Fixes

  • Hired gnomish engineers to improve the in-game chat bubbles to reduce clipping.
  • Resolved various bugs and issues.
  • [iPad] Improved overall performance, especially for iPad 2 and iPad mini.
  • [iPad] Resolved an issue where the Hearthstone client could sometimes crash when returning to the client from a locked iPad state.

It looks like that, contrary to previous expansions, the Kobolds and Catacombs card reveals will start with a card reveal stream.
We are used to getting card reveals streams in the end of the revealing period, but now we get one in the beginning (and presumably another one in the end?).
As it was already known, the card reveals will restart on November 20. The stream, hosted by Game Designer Peter Whalen and Brian Kibler, will begin at 11 a.m. PST or 8:00 p.m. CET of that day. It will be broadcast on the PlayHearthstone Twitch channel and it will be available in several languages.
Hopefully we'll get a good amount of cards shown; we'd expect to see around 15 cards. As always, Icy Veins will be here to cover this. Don't forget to keep an eye at our Kobolds & Catacombs hub!

We finally have a new brawl this week and it rewards a Kobolds & Catacombs pack.
In this Tavern Brawl, you just pick a class and you get a random deck.
Both players get a quest. This quest requires that 7 minions are played by any player. When the quest is completed a Treasure Chest, similar to the one spawned by Marin the Fox, will appear on both sides of the board and the quest counter will be reset.
If you are the one to play the 7th minion, then an easier-to-break 0/4 Treasure Chest (which can be healed) will appear on your opponent's side. In contrast, a normal 0/8 Treasure Chest will appear on your side of the board and vice versa.
Be aware that even though the quest states that minions need to be summoned, they actually need to be played. This means that cards like Stand Against Darkness or the minions summoned from cards like Barnes or Murloc Tidehunter do not add to the quest counter.
This Tavern Brawl combines skill and luck. You have to make critical decisions in choosing whether to push face damage or break the chest and hope for the best. On the other hand, a good Treasure Chest highroll can completely change the game.
Upon victory in this brawl, you will be awarded with a Kobolds & Catacombs card pack which can be opened when the new expansion releases.

Blizzard has listened! Death Knights will be removed from the Arena in an upcoming update.
Great news for fans of the Arena: Death Knight cards will be removed from the Arena draft pool in an update on November 14th! Blizzard noted that the upgraded Hero Power made these cards too hard to answer, which was a very common complaint from the Hearthstone community at large.

      • Death Knight Hero cards can no longer be drafted in Arena.

Starting on the morning of Tuesday, November 14 PST, we will remove the nine Knights of the Frozen Throne Death Knight Hero cards from the Arena draft pool. While the Death Knight Hero Cards are exciting and powerful to play, their permanent Hero Power upgrades are hard to combat in a format where answers are limited.

We will continue to monitor Arena balance and make changes on an as-needed basis. Please note this change does not remove Death Knight Hero cards from existing drafted decks. For a complete list of cards that are not available in the Arena draft pool, please refer to our Arena Specifics forum post on the official Hearthstone forums.
