Thrall Featured in BlizzCon 2023 Key Art

Last week, Blizzard revealed more details about tickets for the upcoming BlizzCon and we also got to see the key art which shows Thrall. Now the question is why Thrall and what role will he play in WoW going forward?

If you haven't seen it yet here's the full version of the BlizzCon key art:

Each game has a different character tied to it, we have Lilith for Diablo, Winston representing Overwatch, an elf holding Hearthstone cards, a gnome engineer/flight master for Arclight Rumble and Thrall for WoW.

As far as announcements go, I believe Blizzard reveals a new WoW expansion every other BlizzCon and around BlizzCon, Dragonflight will have been out for just 1 year, so one would think they will reveal a big content update for the game instead.

Some wild speculations surrounding Thrall even mention the revival of Heroes of the Storm because this can easily be interpreted as HotS Thrall.

Just for comparison, Jaina was in the 2017 key art when Battle for Azeroth was announced and Sylvanas represented Warcraft on the BlizzCon 2019 key art when Shadowlands was revealed.

Do you think we'll see Thrall in Dragonflight or will we see a new expansion announcement? Let us know in the comments!

Really hope they don't emasculate him, like they did with many other popular male figures in pop culture recently. (Luke Skywalker, Indiana Jones, He-Man etc....)

I hope they don’t as well, but being woke-a-vision is part of it I wouldn’t put it past them. They will do it just so those elites can virtue signal and look like they care.

When Thralla leaves her old life and family behind to sail to the other side of Azeroth, players will get to experience their whole journey alongside Thralla in this powerful expansion

Could just be "he's one of the most recognizable characters of the franchise." Obvious choice if they were staying on theme would have been Alexstrasza, but they already had one lady with big horns in the composition.

They often put characters that have nothing to do with what is announced at Blizzcon. For example, that Mecha Tyrael skin was from an event that existed before and there was nothing substantial for HotS back then. Of course, there won't be any spoilers in key art, so if they are going to show their online survival game, it's not going to be featured in any promotional art before.

Blizzard just announced there will be no in-person BlizzCon this year.
If you've planned on attending BlizzCon 2024, we've got bad news for you. The event will not be held this year. Here's what Blizzard had to say about its cancelation:
      (Source)
After careful consideration over the last year, we at Blizzard have made the decision not to hold BlizzCon in 2024. This decision was not made lightly as BlizzCon remains a very special event for all of us, and we know many of you look forward to it. While we’re approaching this year differently and as we have explored different event formats in the past, rest assured that we are just as excited as ever to bring BlizzCon back in future years.
Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing more details about our launches coming later this year, including World of Warcraft: The War Within and Diablo IV's first expansion, Vessel of Hatred. To celebrate these upcoming releases and to bring our communities together in new and special ways, we will soon share some exciting plans for other industry trade shows and conventions like Gamescom. We can’t wait to tell you more about those plans soon. We’re also looking forward to the Overwatch Champions Series’ stops at both Dreamhack Dallas and Dreamhack Stockholm. And we’re thrilled to be planning multiple, global, in-person events to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Warcraft, which will be held in addition to the in-game celebrations across our Warcraft games throughout 2024. While these events are distinct from BlizzCon, we’re harnessing all of our creativity and imagination to ensure that they carry the same spirit of celebration and togetherness.
Our hope is that these experiences – alongside several live-streamed industry events where we’ll keep you up to date with what’s happening in our game universes – will capture the essence of what makes the Blizzard community so special.
No matter how you choose to connect with us at these events this year – whether it be in person or virtually – we can’t wait to see you there!

We're 2 hours away from this year's opening ceremony at BlizzCon and the community is already guessing what will be announced today, so we're taking a look at some bingo cards for the event!
      Bingo Card 1
The first bingo card talks about Thrall, Metzen, and of course "Storm" in the expansion name. Interestingly, it mentions Path of the Titans, a feature that was planned for Cataclysm but ultimately abandoned.

      Bingo Card 2
The second bingo card includes guesses like Dragonriding everywhere, WoW on game pass, and more.

      Bingo Card 3
The third bingo card boldly mentions a new expansion for Diablo 4!

      Bingo Card 4
The fourth bingo card includes guesses like Cataclysm Classic, Classic+, no Patch 10.3, and more.
