Mists of Pandaria Classic Elemental Shaman Rotation and Cooldowns
On this page, you will learn how to optimize the rotation of your Elemental Shaman in both single-target and multi-target PvE situations in Mists of Pandaria Classic. We also have advanced sections about cooldowns, procs, etc. in order to minmax your DPS.
Elemental Shaman Rotations
If you have not already, we recommend going through the Spell Summary guide first. Knowing how each spell and ability works in detail will greatly increase your understanding of the rotation suggestions below.
Elemental Shaman Rotations
Single-Target Rotation
Make sure to use the Flametongue Weapon weapon imbue and keep
Lightning Shield
buffed on yourself.
The priority list for Elemental Shaman is as follows:
- Maintain
Searing Totem if
Fire Elemental Totem is not available;
- Use
Unleash Elements on cooldown if
Unleashed Fury is talented;
- Use
Flame Shock on as many long-lived enemies as possible;
- Cast
Lava Burst on cooldown on a target with Flame Shock;
- Use
Earth Shock once at 6+ charges of
Lightning Shield;
- Cast
Lightning Bolt as a filler.
AoE Rotation
Against multiple enemies follow the single-target rotation, but swap Lightning Bolt
for
Chain Lightning against 2 enemies or spam only Chain Lightning against
3 or more enemies. If fighting 5 enemies for an extended period of time, swap to
Glyph of Chain Lightning for maximum damage!
Earth Shock can also be used whenever
Lightning Shield is at
7 stacks to funnel damage into a particularly dangerous or high health target in
the enemy group.
Cooldowns
Use your Elemental Mastery,
Fire Elemental Totem, and
Ascendance
together on cooldown if enemies will be present for their full duration and preferably
during temporary Spell Power buffs from professions, trinkets, potions, and
Bloodlust
/
Heroism.
Remember to use your utility abilities as well:
Stormlash Totem should be used in a rotation with the rest of the Shamans in the raid;
Bloodlust /
Heroism for a massive temporary raid Haste buff;
Earthbind Totem to slow nearby enemies and allow for kiting;
Wind Shear to help interrupt important casts;
Grounding Totem to absorb enemy casts that Wind Shear cannot interrupt;
Windwalk Totem to free allies from movement-impairing effects;
Ancestral Guidance can be used for extra off-healing in emergencies.
