On this page, you will find a number of useful macros and addons to make your life easier when playing your Enhancement Shaman in World of Warcraft — The War Within (11.2).
If you were looking for WotLK Classic content, please refer to our TBC Shaman addons and macros.
Enhancement Shaman Addons and Macros
Welcome to our Addons and Macros page. Here we will be covering helpful addons you can use to elevate your gameplay through a more informative UI, alongside provide some commonly used Enhancement Shaman macros.
Enhancement Shaman Macros
Macros are accessible through the /macro command in-game, and allow you to create small scripts that will be executed when you press a keybind. These are very useful for combining multiple actions into one, so a common example is combining off-GCD trinkets with cooldowns within one press.
Below are some Enhancement specific options that help to make executing some important mechanics smoother.
Focus Cast Macros
We have several spells that can benefit from using a focus target, allowing you to still focus on your primary target with damaging attacks. Replace the Wind Shear in the macro below with any desired spell name:
- #showtooltip
- /cast [@focus,exists] Wind Shear
Good spells to use this with are Cleanse Spirit,
Hex,
Purge and
Wind Shear.
Mouseover Macros
Similarly, mousing over a target and casting a spell without moving from your main target can be beneficial, especially with specific talent builds. Replace the Cleanse Spirit in the macro below with the spell name:
- #showtooltip
- /cast [target=mouseover] Cleanse Spirit
This has other uses if targets are more dynamic, removing an input
needed to target someone. Cleanse Spirit benefits from this, and
the ability to quickly apply
Flame Shock can be helpful.
Self-Cast Healing Surge
This will always prioritize yourself when casting Healing Surge
for reliable self-healing:
- #showtooltip
- /cast [@player] Healing Surge
Totem Placement Macros
For any totem with a targeting circle, two macro options are
available to drop it quicker. The first drops it immediately at your feet
(replace the Surging Totem in the following macros with your desired totem name).
This is especially useful when playing Totemic:
- #showtooltip
- /cast [@player] Surging Totem
Or at your current cursor location:
- #showtooltip
- /cast [@cursor] Surging Totem
This can be used for Wind Rush Totem,
Earthgrab Totem
or even
Totemic Projection.
Totemic Projection on Cooldown Macro
To efficiently move our totems around with us, you can macro
Totemic Projection into a rotational ability thanks to it being off the
Global Cooldown. A common ability to tie it to is
Stormstrike, but any
button can be used with the following macro:
- #showtooltip Stormstrike
- /cast Totemic Projection
- /cast Stormstrike
This does have some downsides for utility totems, and gives you less direct
control over where you place things as Totemic Projection will always be
on cooldown. This is more of a niche option for those who simply don't want to
bother dealing with dragging
Surging Totem around.
Surging Totem Relocate
Alternatively, you can use the following macro when playing Totemic,
which repeatedly use the relocate feature built into
Surging Totem, without
needing to waste the cooldown of
Totemic Projection:
- #showtooltip Lava Lash
- /cast Lava Lash
- /cast Surging Totem
You can replace Lava Lash with
Stormstrike, or macro it to both
to make sure it stays nearby.
Earth Elemental and Totem Cancel Macro
This macro requires you to grab this weakaura from wago.io, and you can shrink this down or reduce its alpha to hide it. The macro can then be used to cancel all active totems instantly.
- /click MyTotemFrame1
- /click MyTotemFrame2
- /click MyTotemFrame3
- /click MyTotemFrame4
All-in-One Imbues and Lightning Shield
This can be used to apply all of your imbues and Lightning Shield with
a single button if pressed 3 times in a row, saving some bindings:
- #showtooltip
- /castsequence reset=10 Flametongue Weapon, Windfury Weapon, Lightning Shield
Enhancement Shaman Weakauras
While there are a lot of Weakaura packs available on Wago, ones linked here are recommended for specific purposes to add functionality to the spec that otherwise cannot be found with the base UI.
Tempest Tracker - This Weakaura Link will provide you with a tracker for
Maelstrom Weapon spent and
Awakening Storms stacks present to plan around your
Tempest procs.
Thorim's Invocation Tracker - This Weakaura Link will show your current "priming" for the
Thorim's Invocation talent between either
Chain Lightning or
Lightning Bolt.
Elemental Spirits Tracker - While not strictly necessary, The War Within has added in a lot of reasons to be aware of the current state of
Feral Spirit wolves. Either this link or this link provide ways of tracking this.
Suring Totem Pulse Tracker - Having a way to track ticks of
Surging Totem when playing as
Totemic makes it easier to avoid misses during combat. Either this link or this link provide two options to track these.
Totemic Recall Tracker - Not extremely necessary, but having a way to track which totem will be reset by
Totemic Recall can be useful if you don't use it to reset a Cooldown immediately. This aura provides a number of options to track which totem is banked.
Enhancement Shaman Addons
Below are a few suggestions of key addons that can augment the base Blizzard UI with additional features, making it easier to track key effects. These are especially helpful for Enhancement, that often has a lot of things going on while also needing to keep track of mechanics.
General Addons for Shaman
Weak Auras
WeakAuras is an extremely useful addon that allows you to have visual effects on your screen, helping you track your buffs, debuffs and cooldowns. It is highly customisable and it can make it much, much easier to keep track of your procs and play your spec more proficiently. It can also be used for a variety of other functions.
It is also extremely important when playing with Stormbringer
to have a Weakaura to track
Tempest, due to the lack of in-game UI
support. This weakaura link can track your
current
Maelstrom Weapon stacks spent and how close you are to your next proc.
Boss Mods: Deadly Boss Mods or Bigwigs
Boss mods are addons that warn you about boss abilities and give you live advice on how to handle some mechanics. We strongly recommend you to get one such addon. At Icy Veins, we mostly use Deadly Boss Mods, the most popular boss mod. A good alternative is Big Wigs.
Details!
"Details!" Damage Meter is a real-time DPS/HPS meter with a lot of additional functionality such as being able to see cooldowns, buffs, debuffs, damage done to specific targets, and statistical analysis. In our opinion, it is superior to Skada in terms of functionality, although it is slightly more complicated to configure. We recommend Details! as your default damage meter, but if you prefer something easier, then Skada is still a good option.
GTFO
GTFO is a lightweight addon that notifies you when you are standing in harmful effects or when you are making other such mistakes. It is very useful, even if your boss mod is already alerting you of such things.
Hekili
Hekili is a visual rotation aid that gives a visual cue to help players better grasp the moment-to-moment gameplay that can sometimes be overwhelming. It is regularly updated to align with new simulation profiles as and when they are created, and we highly recommend it as a tool both to learn with and as a helping hand to steer you along the right path, even for experienced players.
ElvUI
ElvUI is a complete replacement of the default User Interface. It comes with almost everything you need to perform properly: action bars, unit frames, cooldown timers, proc displays, etc.
