On this page, you will learn how to optimally play Nazeebo in a competitive environment in Heroes of the Storm. Everything you need to know is explained, from general gameplay to specific tips and tricks.

1. General Strategy For Nazeebo

Nazeebo scales fairly linearly as the game progresses, with his only major power spike being at Level 16, with the aquisition of Leaping Spiders Icon Leaping Spiders. However, his early game is still very strong, making him an effective solo laner, although he also excels at laning with allies because of his good pushing strength. Be very wary of pushing too hard, as Nazeebo's lack of mobility makes you a prime target for ganks, especially if you are alone. Work on building up your Death Ritual Icon Death Ritual stacks as high as possible by applying Voodoo Ritual Icon Voodoo Ritual to every minion before it dies. Voodoo Ritual will simultaneously provide you with significant health and Mana regeneration, allowing you to stay in lane for much longer than other Heroes.

Zombie Wall Icon Zombie Wall should only be used in lane under three circumstances, to survive a gank, to secure a kill, or to make an effective trade versus your enemy. When fighting, you should always be looking for opportunities to land an effective Zombie Wall, as good Zombie Walls are critical to playing Nazeebo effectively. If you are losing the game prior to Level 16, play passively until you aquire Leaping Spiders, as they will significantly increase your overall power.

2. When Not Team Fighting

The most important and difficult aspect of Heroes of the Storm is performance in team fights, since this is often where games are decided. That said, team fights usually take up a relatively short amount of time, with the rest of the game being spent performing other tasks. In this section, we will walk you through what you should be doing outside of team fights as Nazeebo.

In order of priority, you should:

  • take map objectives;
  • hold or clear a lane that no one else on your team is in and soak it for experience;
  • take Mercenary camps (you can solo the Ogre (Easy) Camp) on your side of the map;
  • push whatever lane your allies are already pushing the hardest.

Map objectives almost always have the largest impact on the game. If you ignore these, then not only do you miss out on objectives that the enemy takes, but the enemy team also benefits from these objectives. On some maps, team fighting is synonymous with taking objectives, like on Sky Temple or Dragon Shire, but Garden of Terror, for example, does not always promote fights between both teams. The Boss Mercenary Camp on some maps constitutes a map objective. However, sometimes it is best to give up a map objective and to simply keep pushing, but the only time you might want to consider doing this is if it is obvious that you will be unable to contest the objective.

Your goal outside of team fights is to gain as much of an advantage over your enemy as possible, and in Heroes of the Storm, this means soaking experience from minions. Unless there is a team fight, leaving a lane without anyone to soak the experience should never be done, especially if it is just to take a Mercenary camp. Nazeebo is extremely effective at pushing lanes, even by himself, so being stuck in a lane is often what you want to be doing.

Once all of your lanes are being soaked, take Mercenary camps. They provide a small amount of experience and a significant amount lane pressure. Taking the Mercenary camps on the enemy's side of the map is risky, and it should only be done if you can be sure they will not or cannot contest. Nazeebo is excellent at capturing Mercenary Camps, as he has consistent damage and Zombie Wall Icon Zombie Wall will absorb most of the incoming damage. However, assistance from allies is still recommended.

If you have already taken all that the map has to offer, it is likely that most, if not all of the lanes are pushing in the direction of your enemy. This pressure should be capitalised on. Push a lane with your allies to destroy the enemies' base.

3. Team Fighting

Team fighting as Nazeebo is relatively straightforward compared to other Heroes. Use Gargantuan Icon Gargantuan at the beginning of the fight, and Corpse Spiders Icon Corpse Spiders, Plague of Toads Icon Plague of Toads, and the Gargantuan's Stomp as they become available. Do not rush using Zombie Wall Icon Zombie Wall and instead wait until an opportunity arises. Use it to prevent the enemy team from retreating or to trap vulnerable enemy Heroes who are unable to escape, like Zagara or Li Li. Doing so can single-handedly win the fight for your team.

There is absolutely no reason for you to be within any range of danger when playing Nazeebo. All of your abilities are quick and easy to cast and do not require anything more from you, including Zombie Wall. You can use all of your abilities within a second and simply move away again, although Basic Attacks make up a moderate amount of your damage, so you should use Basic Attacks when possible. Save Ice Block Icon Ice Block for when you absolutely need it to survive, do not use it prematurely or without reason, as it is your only defensive ability until Level 20, when you can get Bolt of the Storm Icon Bolt of the Storm.

4. Summary of Tips and Tricks

  • Use Zombie Wall Icon Zombie Wall where your target will be, rather than where they currently are.
  • Zombie Wall Icon Zombie Wall can be used to simply block a path off altogether, rather than trapping an enemy within the ring.
  • Use Corpse Spiders Icon Corpse Spiders whenever it is available.
  • Avoid using Plague of Toads Icon Plague of Toads to kill minions during the early game or you will run out of Mana.
  • Stack Death Ritual Icon Death Ritual as much as possible, but not at the cost of missing team fights or contesting objectives.
  • Zombie Wall Icon Zombie Wall can be used to soak Tower shots and drain ammo.
  • In addition to killing Heroes, Gargantuan Icon Gargantuan can be used to siege the enemy base and capture Mercenary camps. Its very low cooldown allows for very liberal use.
  • Gargantuan Icon Gargantuan has another ability in addition to Stomp. Every few seconds it will instantly kill a nearby enemy minion.
  • Take Thing of the Deep Icon Thing of the Deep over Ice Block Icon Ice Block if the enemy team lacks engage and is unable to get close to you.
  • Take Ravenous Spirit Icon Ravenous Spirit when the enemy team lacks interrupts, like Stuns, Silences, and Polymorphs.
  • Try to cast Ravenous Spirit Icon Ravenous Spirit from behind a wall or in a position that is difficult for the enemy team to get to you.
