Lei Shen

Recommended Posts

I'd just like to add that our raid discovered a way to avoid leveling up any conduits in phase 2.

You can keep pulling Lei Shen in and out of the conduits so that he'll charge the conduit for 5-10 seconds, and then AoE the raid for 5-10 seconds. then back to the conduit. You can adjust the amount of time he is AoE'ing depending on how well your healers can keep up, but after about 10 seconds the damage begins to escalate very quickly. Using this strategy though we were easily able to push Lei Shen to 30% without leveling up any of the three remaining conduits, which made the second transition extremely easy.

Ball Lightning spawns everywhere. Strategy to deal with that is stacking on the boss and AoEing them down. Just spread back out for Lightning Whip.

P1 - stay spread, collapse on static target, move from Thunderstruck. Move boss when he is >80 energy.

Inter-phase - solo soak with immunities. If you use an immunity with someone else, they will take full damage.

P2 - stay spread out, don't get hit by Lightning Whip. Use Bloodlust as soon as inter-phase ends to beast mode P2.

Inter-phase - same thing

P3 - stack for Ball Lightning, AoE, spread back out, avoid Lightning Whip.

Well we were having problems with timing ball lightning and static shock during phase 2.

We decided that it prefers people out in range, and that it does not spin on everyone. so we had the static shock debuff would stack in with melee to soak that while range would stay spread for ball lightning and then move in.

One important thing of note, what we discovered, is that during both transition phases, all the active conduits gain a level up for the duration of the transition phase (so in 1st transition, ideally, you'll have to contend with all 4 conduits at level 2, and in 2nd transition, most likely one conduit will be at level 3, which is a problem if not handled properly).

One thing I want to point out. I think in 10 man it is easier to overload North Conduit first. As it is not hard to keep range when there are 2-3 people in each part of the platform.

And if possible, make people, who can survive Static Shocks alone with their immunities do it by their own. Almost every class can survive it one time. Also static shock and overcharged is never cast on tanks, so they do not have to deal with these abilities on transition phases.

I have to aggree with Dia. We used to do the same on our kills :)

Our kill:

We started on east, then moved clockwise. By moving Lei Shen on the first Decapitate, you will get about 96-98 energy on the first node giving you plenty of room for error. If it does level up, it will be right as you move and you won't get hit by the ability. The Decapitated tank should go in a different direction to avoid getting ganked. After that, we moved after each Thunderstruck to avoid getting stuck in the middle of a cast and taking the AoE damage. This levels each node to around 75-80. You should have enough DPS to transition when he gets to the north.

For intermission, we had two tanks on south, one healer with a Warlock on north, the rest in packs of 3 on west and east. Fan out across the little circle - one on each side, one towards the back. This gives people space and time to move out of range of other groups' Overcharges. Stack up for Static Shocks and Overcharges, spread 8 yards for Diffusion Chain, and stand in the Bouncing Bolt effects. This is the part that takes the highest amount of coordination and quick thinking, because the damage of Static Shock increases with the node's energy and level. Squishy classes need to use all available defensive cooldowns to survive it.

On P2, get everyone to south and move clockwise again. Keep people stacked in melee so they can AoE down the Ball Lightnings, and move out of Lightning Whips. Current tank should face Lei Shen towards the next platform. Taunt off and move on every Fusion Slash - the timing is perfect to get to the next platform around 90 Energy. Use minor DPS cooldowns on North to speed the transition. We were at 50 Energy and Level 2 when we got to second intermission.

For second intermission, move the healer from East to South with the tanks, one DPS to West and one to North. This intermission is much easier.

For last phase, lust at 20%, tank swap at about 15 stacks, avoid Thunderstrucks, and avoid Lightning Whips. If you got this far with everyone alive, you're probably going to get the kill, but standing in the bad can and will still wipe the raid.

For heroic mode, why do you recommend overloading Bouncing Bolts and Static Charge (25 man at least).

I understand that he keeps the ability for the remainder of the fight, but when does he actually use these extra abilities?  Throughout phase 2 and 3? only phase 3?

I could see how bouncing bolts may be easier for 25m because you have more people that can run out and stand in them.

In 10m we did Static shock first and then the diffusion chain next. That basically makes Phase 3 all about stacking for static shock and ball lightnings and then spreading out again in time for diffusion and thunderstruck.

A couple tricks that work for every phase, but especially for phase 3.

1.) In 10 man If there are at least 3 people at range, and everyone else is in melee. then you will only spawn 3 ball lightning each time. (this may be higher in 25m)

2.) Thunderstruck is always cast on a range or healer. If they all run to max range before it's cast then the melee will never have to move.

Our phase 3 basically goes like this:

- Everyone spread out for diffusion chain

- Static shock runs into melee and everyone that can stacks on it

- 3 range stay out and everyone else collapse into melee for the ball lightning. This causes us to only get 3 adds.

- All range and healers run to our stack point at max range which causes thunderstruck to target the far platform.

- Keep repeating until we win.

Well, we started refining our strategy and how I have a clearer picture of what we are doing.  We went with overloading Static Shock and Diffusion Chain

Basically as a 25 man we overload Static Shock first because its pretty easy to deal with for the whole fight since you can easily stack up during phase 2 and spread the damage.

Then we leveled up Diffusion chain next because we have a warrior rotation of Mass Spell reflect (only need 2 warriors) which allows us to stack when Lei Shen uses the ability.  Since Diffusion chain only targets a range player, its very easy to predict when all the range are stacked on one place.
