Subtlety over Sin/Outlaw

Recommended Posts

So right now I play Sub as my main spec. I mained outlaw for the first week or so of Legion and honestly I hated sub (not sure why) but after I tried it, it is now my preferred spec among the 3. I know that sub scales the best with gear and is the most superior spec around 870ilv too. I never see sub in pve and usually outlaw/sin mainly (for mythic+ and raids) so I was wondering if I am doing anything wrong?

Armoury: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/stormscale/Dyldoe/simple

For my talents, I use weaponmaster as it is very good for aoe pulls (I can pull about 400k dps on 3-4 targets) then followed by the traditional talents for pve sub (I go master of subtlety for raids)

I know my stats are not the best for sub as I need to get more mastery/vers rather than haste (crit is still pretty good if i'm correct)

I couldn't spec into Akaari's Soul as it breaks cc in pvp with means I loose a hefty amount of dps which is very annoying and I am debating to repsec into it and put up with it in pvp for the extra dps increase.

My weapon pathing looks like this: https://gyazo.com/61e1d2ba599db43cb2faeee306c72e81

I seem to be doing everything correctly for dps but I do about 250-300k dps on single target and stays about 200k the whole time. Sometimes can go up to 350-400k depending on how smooth the fight goes but if it's anything to do with my weapon/talents/ilv/stats and even playstyle then please let me know, thanks!

Edit: I have respecced my weapon to now look like this: https://gyazo.com/e972f73591090f9895e097d9782e3035

I should be doing better now ^^ Appreciate the help

Subtlety has fairly evenly-distributed stat weights, from what I can recall.  The other two specs tend to favor two of the stats pretty highly relative to the rest which means you can achieve greater results with a low ilvl just by stacking those stats on your gear.  With sub, raw ilvl increases will scale your damage more strongly and all the stats synergize well with each other.

Last I looked for my character, sub stat weights were Agi > Mastery > Vers > Haste > Crit but the margins were VERY narrow.  Yours will likely be different, as your character's current values are taken into account when determining those numbers through sims.

If you want to rock the meters in PVE as sub, then grab Akaari's Soul.  Gotta do it.  Otherwise, you'll just have to eat the DPS loss and take that into account when figuring out whether you are performing optimally.  You could always pop Surrender to Meta-ness and play Sin in PVP so you can take Akaari's Soul with no worries!

What do you mean with this?

I think he basically means playing Sin for pvp as it's the strongest (Surrender to Meta-ness as a pun, playing the Meta spec and the spell from Spriest "Surrender to Madness") so I can roll with the good elite trait for pve dps :)

Gangland   Benediction | Alliance | Semi-Hardcore| Tuesday/Thursday 8-11pm EST We’re a large guild originally from retail WoW (Tichondrius) looking to transition into Classic WoW raiding and build upon our 200+ players. Leadership and community consist of individuals that have been playing together for over a decade! Our immediate goal is to round out our roster for clearing Molten Core by the end of October. We’re currently focused on running pre-BiS guild premades and power leveling those that play high need classes. Currently in need of Mages and Druids, but everyone can earn their way into a consistent 40-man raid group. We will conduct a loot council for our raids to ensure the most deserving of individuals are rewarded for their hard work. We’re looking for high active, extremely dedicated, top performing players that are looking for a new home to kick it. So as the great Suge Knight once said, "all you players out there, who don’t want to be in a guild where the GM and his officers… take all the loot, all the crafting material, benched… then come to Gangland!"   Recruiting: 🐈 Druids 🧙‍♂️ Mages 🗡 Rogues 👼 Priest     Raid Information: Times- Tues/Thurs 8-11pm EST. 3rd Day Optional Loot: Loot Council Off Days- BiS dungeon runs and professions farming     Expectations & Guild Rules: - No “spergy” behavior or the use of “gamer” words - Be prepared and knowledgeable - For raids and guild functions, be on time and reliable - Be a selfless player. Okay so between Nelf and Human rogue my questions are this
Doesn't the weapon skill see a diminishing return?
Is the dps difference actually there?
Also shadowmeld vs perception: I don't understand why shadowmeld isn't considered to be the better choice?
Reasoning being that a nelf should get the jump on another rogue first regardless, because of the better stealth..that is a passive. Also wouldn't the shadowmeld be better in a raid setting for sap?
I understand that perception is active for 20 seconds but it has a cool down, and is also on the same faction?
