Spriest in need of someone with patience

Recommended Posts

I am currently progressing in ToT and I am looking for someone who understands all of this jibberish from Logs and stats to help me breakdown what I am doing wrong and what I have to do to improve. Quick tips might not help me, as I am more of a hands on learner it is going to take me a bit to understand and grasp how it works. So please, have patience with me.

Here is a current log from a LFR I ran today:

http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/6c3zracuy54ivbtd/

Here is my Armory:

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/korgath/Yelaina/simple

Single target rotation I do as follows:

Shadow Word: Pain

Vampiric Touch

Mind Blast

Mind flay (Until Mind Blast is up again)

Mind Blast

(Whenever I am spec'd for Mind Spike to proc I usually apply it twice and refresh it after a Mindblast if it allows)

Replace DoTs

Halo whenever I can (if not needed for healing intensive encounter)

Shadow Fiend on CD

Devouring Plauge on 3x Shadow Orbs

and Shadow Word: Death (when applicable)

I would really love to know if and when using Mind Spike is appropriate, I know I need a Helm update, really badly (I am working on that). I would love to know more about what if anything I could reforge and if I need to regem. Consider me a sponge....a slow absorbing one, but never the less, a sponge.

Thank you in advance for anyone who helps me in any way, no matter how little.

Looking through the log and checking it against your current gear and build, it is quite OK. However, there are a few things that will get your DPS higher.

1. Do a proper regem/reforge. Go to askmrrobot.com, select your toon and optimise it. Since at the moment you do not have the LMG, I think that T14+ build is still for you. Regem and reforge accordingly.

2. Try to get your BiS trinkets. As awseome as UVLS trinket looks, it barey procs, and it is not optimal for spriests. My suggestion is to try and farm Troll Council and Megaera for their trinkets, those are the BiS.

3. Talents and Glyphs. Although, apart maybe from mind spike glyph, none of the others provide any dps boost, I am struggling to understand for what you would pick dispersion and MD for. In my experience, MD Glyphed is only good for fighting HC Spirit Kings in mogushan vaults, for boss #1. And I never found myself wishing I had 15 seconds shaved off my dispersion. Now, depending on the fights, I would choose Mind Spike and Inner Sanctum over MD and Dispersion. Since Mind Spike has been changed to not take into account FDCL procs, that glyph is also next to useless, unless you have fights that need adds burning down and you might need a bit of burst. But since 5.2 if I remember correctly, Solace and Insanity has been redesigned, and it now destroys FDCL in terms of DPS output. Unless the fight requires A LOT of movement, PW: I is almost mandatory, since the DPS spikes if used properly on a 3 orb DP.

Give this a shot and see how it goes :)

Your rotation has one issue: you should always open with Mind Blast and use it on cooldown - hit it in mid-channel of Mind Flay to do so. Also, since you take From Darkness, Comes Light, you should use your free Mind Spikes whenever they are available, but never use it otherwise since it consumes your DoTs.

I want to thank you both for taking the time to respond, I worked with my GM last night on AskMrRobot and fixed everything and I will be working on paying attention to getting my orbs up fast on single targets and managing my DoTs on Multi's tonight in our Raid.

Thank you both, again.

Insanity is the way to go, just make sure you won't have to refresh either dot before using it. You may also clip/recast mind flay when DP has <1s left to extend the dmg, since Insanity only looks for DP on the target at the time of the cast and not for the duration.

You will want to reach either the 8085 or the 10124(10437 w/LMG) haste caps. Then with either the LMG or T15 trinkets mastery ranks higher than crit to optimize procs.

If you are having trouble with when you refresh dots based on your procs you can get Affdots and the priest plug in, its fairly simple to set up and use.

Anything other questions just ask smile.png

Enter Eclipse Apply or maintain your Moonfire, Sunfire, and Stellar Flare (if talented) Keep Celestial Alignment / Incarnation: Chosen of Elune (if talented) on cooldown Cast Convoke the Spirits when you have less than 50 Astral Power. Try to pair with your other cooldowns but do not lose a use. Spend your Astral Power on Starsurge or Starfall on multi-target. Do not lose uses of Warrior of Elune, Force of Nature, or Fury of Elune (if talented). Cast the Eclipse-appropriate filler. Item 3 says to cast Celestial Alignment as a higher priority than (presumably that means before you cast) Convoke the Spirits.
The subsection on Convoke the Spirits Optimization says "Generally, you will play around your Convoke and not your Celestial Alignment, as you almost never want to cast Celestial Alignment without Convoke up as well."
I'm not quite understanding how I'm supposed to prioritize Celestial Alignment in my rotation but not generally cast Celestial Alignment without Convoke up.
Unless Convoke is a special sort of channel, if you actually managed to cast Celestial Alignment during Convoke, wouldn't it interrupt the channeling of Convoke?
If I am supposed to cast Convoke and then cast Celestial Alignment as it's channeling, shouldn't the rotation guide have those reversed?
I'm sorry to be a noodge about accuracy here, but either I'm badly misunderstanding what looks like fairly simple instructions or the two elements of the instructions are inconsistent with one another.

I am new to mmos and I was playing an Arcane Mage but my fiance said frost mages are better so I am trying to learn how to play it and I have watched videos and gone over the icy viens information but it is still very confusing for me. I know this sounds bad but can anyone like dumb it down or like comment simpler instructions right now i am going off this attachment i made based of some advice and off of icy viens and i am only doing 4152 dps total so I am not sure if this is low or not but I am already level 120 right now

Hello all! I figured i'd make this thread to get some up to date information on the AOE rotation for unholy.  Currently i'm 935 ilvl, and I run Incstructor's fourth lesson and Soul. (For lack of a better option.) However it is my understanding that these two legendaries make for the strongest aoe rotation. Is this true?

That is my first question. My second is what is the priority for aoe when running these two. Is it to wait for defile to drop, then festering wound a target a couple times, then Scourge Strike? Or is the priority to just put Wounds on then pop them asap, dropping the defile whenever it's available. Typically I wait for defile before I start building Wounds, but given the soul and the extra talent, i suspect it's better to just aoe without Defile if it's unavailable or perhaps just better to rarely spend runes on defile? Curious as to your thoughts!

      Hi,

Im having wierd issue with Opportunity skill. It happens everytime I  have 5cp+ and  Opportunity proc.

What Im doing is casting Run Through with 5cp+, note that I have Opportunity proc, after using Run Through my Ruthlessness skill refounds 2cp so Im using free Pistol Shot with Opportunity procs. Problem is IM NOT GETTING 3rd combo point.

Anyone having simmilar issue  ?  Cant find any informations.

Since 7.3.5 I have gotten some decent gear and have been using  SimCraft to see what the average difference in the two talents. I simmed them with the Mangaza's Madness belt combined with.  Sephuz and Soul of the High Priest, and with and without 4pc t21 (because some of the gear that breaks tier is 15+ ilvl better).  So far with my 4pc, sephuz, and FotM it simmed *55k higher than Twist of Fate and any combination. I assume the sim procs Sephuz every 30 sec, which is kind of unrealistic, but I was shocked the dps was so much lower using ToF and FotM.

Any thoughts on the two talents? Does anyone use FotM?  I have started using it and generally average 1.5m dps without BL and north of 2m with.

Here is my armory link, not sure why it shows my haste much lower than it is in game. In game w/o buffs its 43% ~15,500 or so
      https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/magtheridon/anemic
*(edit: originally put 500 it wasnt 500k, checked my Sim logs and I was mistaken with my lock sim.  Priest sim was 55k better, sort of negligible but worth debating the talents maybe)
