For two weeks, players will receive one card pack in addition to the normal reward for completing a Daily Quest.

There are no sweeter words than "free packs" to a Hearthstone fan, which makes today's announcement of the New Year of the Raven Party as sweet as it gets. Beginning on March 26th and ending on April 9th, each Daily Quest completed during the New Year of the Raven Party will reward one card pack in addition to the normal rewards. These packs can be from Journey to Un'Goro, Knights of the Frozen Throne, Kobolds & Catacombs, or even The Witchwood (but they won't open-able until the set releases). That adds up to 14 free packs for daily Hearthstone players, and two additional packs to players who is wise enough to bank up a couple of Daily Quests coming into event.

Blizzard held a similar event last year leading up to the release of Journey to Un'Goro, which rewarded dust, gold, packs, and even a golden Volcanosaur on the final day of the event. Even though there are already 14 reasons to be excited about the New Year of the Raven party, there could be even more free rewards in store for us as we approach the release of The Witchwood.

Wuha, that is realy nice.

Rewards before a new expansion have always been nice last year and this is no exception.

that's quite a bit all together with the pre-order also giving +20 cards (even though I would not call the one with the pre-order "free")!

What's up with all these rewards lately? Numbers are dropping I'd say.

OR, they realized the game is getting too expensive, so they made the game more rewarding

I guess it's a bit of both. Making it a bit more affordable for players who play for free or pay less and using this as a good way to promote the new "year", set and the game in general, attracting new players as  well as keeping active players happy.

One thing, will it be just random which card packs you get? I think most players could use cards from any set, and dust is dust no matter which packs but honestly I would prefer it to be more like: "First 3 quests completed award an Un'gro pack, next 3 packs a KFT pack, next 3 packs a K&C pack and any more quests completed award a Witchwood pack."

I can already see the posts in the official forum coming "fu... this I got no witchwood packs" or "I got mostly Un'goro pack but I have most if that set, damn it!!!"

Don't we have enough randomness in the game itself already? ^^

I doubt the packs will be random, especially when packs of the new set are concerned. If anything, there will be a set number of those.

Good to see Hearthstone continuing the trend of giving more rewards out. I'm not going to go all conspiracy theory on the reasons why. Rotation is always a good time to get back into the game, and anything to mitigate the worry of not having enough standard cards certainly helps.

Well, I hope you are right because a set amount is something clear, everyone knows what they will get without being sad because they hope for more packs of a certain set. But from their wording "These packs can be from" and " ..., or even The Witchwood!", it sounds pretty random to me.

I stared with my 2nd account to test it a bit, so far it looks pretty random

First pack was from K&C, 2nd from Witchwood, 3rd was Un'Goro.

When did this actually start? I completed 2 daily quests yesterday ( Monday march 26th in U.S.) and did not receive any packs. Only the gold from said quests

Is no one reading the official news? With things often worded vague this was pretty clear, 26th 23:59 CEST, I am not sure about other time zones though.

Official News? No. I read it on this website that only stated "Beginning on March 26th...". I guess I know now that what I read on here, I will have to back up and verify somewhere else. Officially.

Here "New Year Of The Raven" Party Will Reward Packs With Each Daily

In the second line is a link to the official site where it's clearly stated when the event starts. The exact time was missing in the Icy Veins Post but the 26th was correct. Besides there have been issues on several servers which leaded to a delayed start, that's hardly the fault of the news here :)

Dave Kosak introduces us to the Monster Hunt, which will be available in a week.
The Lead Mission Designer was joined by two of his associates to discuss the newest PvE mode, which will come along with The Witchwood. Paul Nguyen talked about the four heroes. Tess Greymane has a Hero Power that lets her Discover any class card that has been played in a game (by both players) and add it to your hand.
Darius Crowley has an indestructible cannon minion that can be activated via Darius' Hero Power and fire at the minions across it. Positioning will matter, as you can kill two enemy minions at once and the Hero Power will refresh each time you kill a minion with your cannon. There weren't any details on Houndmaster Shaw or Toki, Time-Tinker, but it was hinted that the former hero will have something to do with Rush (just like its card counterpart).
Giovanni Scarpati discussed bosses and treasures. The Monster Hunt will feature over 45 unique boss encounters. As Ben Brode had revealed in an earlier interview, each hero will have its own final boss, called "nemesis fight". For Crowley it's Lord Godfrey, for Shaw it's Glinda Crowskin and for Toki it's her own future self! When you clear the Monster Hunt with all four heroes (and win four packs), you get to face Hagatha as the last boss. Ultimately, as far as the treasures are concerned, there are a few returning ones from the Dungeon Run, but most are new. There are also hero exclusive treasures, as well as unique treasures "dropping" from rare boss encounters.
You should definitely watch the video to get a glimpse of all the new stuff coming with the Monster Hunt. And don't forget: it's release date is April 26 at 10:00 am PDT!

      Ready for Action
If you played the Dungeon Run in Kobolds & Catacombs, the Monster Hunt will be eerily familiar—but much is different! Rather than choosing one of Hearthstone’s nine classes, you’ll take on the role of one of four veteran monster hunters, each with a special ability that you’ll need to make the most of if you hope to survive the hunt.
Your hunter will venture deep into the Witchwood on Hagatha’s trail, defeating a series of monstrous bosses who dare to cross your path. With each victory, you’ll build a stronger and stronger deck with the items you find. You may encounter some trusty old equipment out in the forest, but much of what you’ll find will be entirely new, including treasures unique to certain foes. Each monster hunter has their own favorite tricks—a special hero power or ability that you’ll need to master if you hope to survive the hunt. Each hunter also carries a grudge against a heinous nemesis in the woods: a unique boss that only they can track down to fight.

You’ll want to go on a Monster Hunt with every hunter, because each offers a quest that will earn you a Witchwood card pack. And if you’ve got the mettle to complete the Monster Hunt with all four hunters, you’ll finally have a chance to face off with the real witch in the woods: Hagatha! If you can free the wood from Hagatha’s curse, you’ll earn the gratitude of Gilneas and the Monster Hunter card back!

We hope you enjoyed learning more of what lurks ahead in Monster Hunt! We’re eager to hear your tales of The Witchwood on social media using the #Witchwood hashtag. Learn more about The Witchwood at TheWitchwood.com!
We’ll see you on the hunt!
