How would this combo work?

Whirlwind would put Maly to 4/6, and Mecha'thun to 10/4

Inner rage would kill Maly, but you lose the spell damage so you're only down to a 10/3 if you use it on Mecha'thun.

You inner Rage them respectively to 6/6 and 12/4 first and finish them both off with an empowered Whirlwind at the same time.

The guide says to use WW first, and then Inner Rage.  Hence Bob's confusion.
