Will Diablo IV Be Revealed at BlizzCon 2019?

Recommended Posts

TGO40710BF881522881162991.jpg

Diablo developers have invited multiple Diablo III streamers to BlizzCon 2019. Will Diablo IV be unveiled at this year's event?

Last year at BlizzCon, Blizzard revealed Diablo Immortal. While the game is pretty much ready from a co-developer perspective according to NetEase's CFO Yang Zhaoxuan, it caused a lot of community backlash, because fans were expecting Diablo IV. While we still don't have an official release date for the mobile game, it's unlikely that they're going to focus on Diablo Immortal for a second year in a row.

Recently, streamer Quin69 revealed that Diablo devs were inviting Diablo streamers to the event, so we expect Blizzard to have plans for the Diablo franchise in November.

According to Kotaku, Diablo IV development was rebooted in 2016 under codename Fenris, because the  game's previous development wasn't shaping up well.

Do you think Blizzard's going to reveal Diablo 4 at BlizzCon? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Note that they never said "Diablo IV" anywhere, only "Diablo project(s)", so there is still some doubt if it's a straight sequel or something in slightly different genre, like Diablo: "Subtitle".

This sort of speculation doesn't really help. Even after they posted an advance warning that they weren't announcing anything big for Diablo at Blizzcon 2018 people still lost their minds.

Most probably the new DPhone (Diablo Phone) release will be presented. Here's hoping they might do charitable work and giveaways for those who don't have phones ?

I very much doubt there will be an announcement for Diablo 4 or even a Diablo 2 remaster. Chances are they will talk about further seasonal themes for Diablo 3 - hence the streamers being invited along - and an update about Diablo: Immortal.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's anything else, as far as I'm concerned Blizzard has killed off Diablo because it can't make the Activision's shareholders any money.

Wonder if the legend that asked if last years' D Immortal reveal was an April Fool's joke will be attending?

Honestly, that is the best way to feel towards BlizzCon: zero expectations regarding Diablo IV.

Amen, bro. Last year was such a kick in the nuts, people have every right to be suspicious

That's true, that's true. People also lost their minds when they saw WoW Classic beta client on Blizz's CDN. That turned out to be the client for internal testing. Such moves only bring up posts like this on the Internet and build up expectation which can and most likely will backfire, unless they announce something substantial.

They'll announce it through their spyware app to all those at blizzcon. "Everybody, look at your phones!"

Maybe you should do abit of research.
the app asks for even less info then facebook for example, it asks the same amount as apps like amazon, and other ticket service apps.

I am sure D4 will be a loooong way in the future (if it will ever come). Maybe 2023, but more likely 2025.

But why should they do D4 if they can make much more money with way less risk by doing stuff like Immortal, Candy Crash, Lootboxes, Skins...

Seriously, I can't imagine, that they have anything solid about Diablo 4. Maybe there are 2 or 3 people talking among themselves about another Diablo, but there is no serious coding done, I am completly sure of that.

The only solid thing about D4 may be the name. If it will ever be released it will be named - Diablo 4.

My guess: They will reveal the first episode of the new Diablo animated series with Netflix.

Looking at Path of Exile there's no reason they can't make Diablo 4 and stuff it full of Supporter Packs, Spell / Ability / Character / Weapon Skins and a lot more.

I really, really, REALLY hope so. It's been to damn long of a wait. Maybe to long. Blizzard has lost a lot of the Diablo playerbase. D4 has to be something pretty damn good to get them back..

This is the most likely IMO. They probably have larger changes coming in the form of themes to "break" the current game and try get people playing it again before Immortal/4 releases. If it is this, I hope it's not just "next season, free CoE btw". I'd like some properly re-defining buffs, that change how things actually play, like:

Choose a skill from another class within a certain pool, would lead to some great build changeups.

Permanent pylons, for example Channeling. A season of just permanently having Channeling active and allowing us to go wild on leaderboards/builds.

The season buffs could be great fun, and the RoRG/LoN stuff is a step in the right direction, but it needs to be bigger IMO.

The only way people would care about D3 anymore is if they announced the Druid from D2 would join in, and even then, it would only be a temporary interest. Folks want D4, and for Immortal to be silently released in the east, and never be mentioned at a Blizzcon ever again.

There is no point for them to invest on D3 anymore. It is a waste of resources. I'd rather them focusing all the capital on Diablo IV.

Introducing Druid at this point would probably cause more harm than good, especially if it is as powerful as a Necro. Releasing another pack with an "OP" character that is hyper viable in solo and group play would just cause huge press problems for a game that Blizz would rather let die while they focus on their future projects. I'd be extremely surprised if they announced any new content beyond season themes at this point for D3.

I feel like in general, this blizzcon will be a gnarly testament on what we should expect from blizzard in the future, its unrealistic in a sense but they must be word smiths up their on stage reading out their teleprompters n how they carry out their presentation this time

So rack up those kills and clear the battlefields in the name of Sanctuary!
All players will benefit from the Pandemonium bonus during Season 35. For each stack of this buff, you’ll receive a small boost to movement speed and bonus damage, ultimately capping out at 50% movement speed and 100% damage at 1000 stacks. In addition, reaching certain killstreak goals will trigger a special effect and cause even more mayhem on the battlefield:

With the killstreak mechanic, we can make sure the benefit is always traveling with you and something you won’t have to constantly reposition for. Blizzard have moved the launch of Season 34 back a week!
While it was supposed to start today, Blizzard cite players not wanting the new D3 and D4 season launches to overlap on the same week, and needing more time to get the season properly set up, as the previous one ended early.
      Season 34 Delay (Source)
      Hi all
We have shifted the start for the new season of Diablo III to next week. This is due to a few items:
We received a good amount of feedback that many didn’t want overlap with the first weekend of Diablo IV’s new season. We agree so we are building out that gap and will be more mindful of that going forward.
This will help us properly ensure account states migrate over as we had an issue with the prior season rolling early and us having to kick things back on.
You can find the exact times on our Season 34 blog.

It seems something went very wrong with Season 33, as it it just... ended a while ago. Players took to the forums as there was no early warning, other than a server message around an hour before it all ended. PezRadar responded clarifying that this is not intended and that Blizzard are looking into what happened.
      Season End (Source)
Heard and got some pings while I’ve been out and I have production checking on this early end. This shouldn’t have ended today so something is funky. Will provide an update once I hear back.
