Retribution Stat Priority

6 posts in this topic

I just went over the updated statistic priority for ret paladins, and I'm a little confused.

  1. Strength;
  2. Mastery;
  3. Haste (until 15% with raid buffs);
  4. Multistrike OR Critical Strike (but not both);
  5. Haste;
  6. Versatility.

Is there a negative impact to having both Multistrike, and Critical Strike? What is the benefit of choosing one over the other?

I've been trying to do some research, but I'm coming up empty. Anyone have any good information to share on this?

No there isn't, but you'd get more of a benefit going for one over going for both, meaning if you had a choice between 2 crit pieces or a crit and mult piece, having double the crit stats will provide a greater bonus than having half that and some mult.

I disagree with this, since having more of every stat multiplies into eachother, example 10% crit 10% multi is kinda a 21% damage increase, vs 20% crit being 20% damage. Not sure why it says only one though.

Perhaps it was trying to say each individual stat is 3rd in the priority tied with eachother, not "get an item with both crit AND multistrike on it!" Though I doubt anyone would ever read it that way. Im really confused on that one, we might have to ask Vlad about it, since he puts those together.

After some more research and talking to some other Paladins, I think that it means to just focus on one so you don't miss out on stacking more Mastery. Get Haste 15% buffed, then prioritize one over the other so you can continue to stack Mastery. Crit/Mastery or Multi/Mastery gear over Crit/Multi.

I could be wrong, but that's my understanding of it.

That's pretty much how it is raz. It's not so much that going for both is bad, it's not by any means, just that you'll get more out of going for one for a higher chance in it than lower % in both.

Also I was the one that had vlad put it there :P

      Can anyone provide a sim sheet, so I can see the DPS differences between legendaries in combination, like:
      Waist and Back = ??? DPS
      Shoulders and Back = ??? DPS
      Shoulders and Waist = ??? DPS
      Reason is, I have Shoulders and Back, but I'm curious to see what a Back and Waist combo DPS would be in comparison. Wanting to know if the numbers are small or large.

      Hi everybody, 1st post here.
      Since NH started I've changed my main spec from Holy to Retribution.
      My first problem is that I still not have 2nd useful legendary (got the ring, but have only Movement Boots as other legendary).
      In AOE fight (like Skorpyron or even Auriel where you need to kill frost and arcane adds fast) I'm Always in top 3 and often got 75%+ ILVL performance on warcraftlogs.
      In ST fight I have awful performance (never over 50% ILVL performance).
      My main concerns are:
      1) Talent Build for ST: I'm using ES, Zeal (4 pcs. T19) and Blade of Wrath. Is this the optimal build?
      2) Trinket: I've got CoF 875, Unstable Arcanocrystal 860, CotCS 870, Entwined 875 (no Faulty Countermeasure, VOTW hates me). What trinkets you suggest to use?
      3) Stat priority: using SIMC for my toon, I see a lot of different values and i'm a little confused. Just changing 1 trinket or 1 talent, Haste Mastery and Crit weights changes a lot (Vers tends to stay in 1st place in all sims). What stat priority you suggest for ST fights?
      4) Crusade use: since I use CoF, I use Crusade at every CD possible and not saving it for specific moments in fight. Is this a big mistake?

      This is my last log from Krosus HC: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/YxNAnDWqR2KHGhm7#fight=19&type=damage-done
      P.S.
      My guild is not oriented in fast progress, but I'd like to improve my personal performance :)

      Hi, I am a main deeeeeeps in a semi-hardcore guild that is currently 2/10M, I have 3 core legendaries: ring, belt and cloak, I am currently wearing the ring but I am uncertain of what the cloak can add to my dps. I have a 880 stat stick trinket, heroic 890 EEF, 895 draught of souls, i also have a 895 haste verst chest from Spellblade. with socket. also have the mythic skorpy neck and a 900 crit haste one with 1.8k crit.
      My question is, what is my optimal setup for single target and what is my optimal set up for cleave/M+? I do around 650K dps for single target fights and want to push my limit as I have max traits. and furthermore what trinkets/items i should be hunting for?
      my armory:http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/frostmourne/Evànescen/simple
      I also have 4 piece set with 875 shoulders and 880 hands, didnt use them due to the massive ilvl difference and I dont think 4 set is that good anyway.
      Any comment is greatly appreciated! Please share some experiences playing around with these stats. with the stat stick and the high crit neck I can hit around 33% crit unbuffed and 20% haste.

      Howdy howdy!

      Requisite armory link: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/aggramar/Mayo/simple Requisite most recent parse: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/rankings/character/93755/latest Am I following the Icy Veins rotation? Yup, for the most part, unless I have a brain fart. With that out of the way, I want to start by saying that I’m not unsatisfied by my DPS, but I know that I can do more / do better.
      I’ve got two of the best legendaries (Ashes to Dust & Chain of Thrayn), two of what I think are the best trinkets. I’ve got the Claw of the Crystalline Scorpid (880) and the Entwined Elemental Foci (890) but don’t use them currently because my sims are showing Convergence of Fates (895) & Might of Krosus (895) being ~7-10k higher, but I’m very open to hearing if maybe the sims aren’t as accurate as I’d like to think they are.
      I’m just... stuck on how to get there. I was hoping that I could get some sage advice from other paladins in here.
      All of your thoughts are most appreciated.
      Thanks,
      Mayo
