The War Within Season 3 Mythic+ BiS List for Fire Mage

This list contains the Best in Slot Gear for Fire Mage from The War Within Season 3 Mythic+.

Note that this BiS List is for items from Mythic+. I am separating the BiS lists by gear sources. This is the list you can chase when you want to improve your gear by farming Mythic+ dungeons.

Note that tier pieces are still included. Although technically not farmable in Mythic+, they do appear in the Mythic+ Great Vault (723) options and can be upgraded from Mythic+ pieces with Matrix Catalyst. Due to how important they are to building your character, and still obtainable if you only do Mythic+, I included them here.

11.2 Introduced a new Artifact Cloak, the Reshii Wraps. This item is obtained through the main story and upgraded through various activities. It starts out at 694 item level, but when fully upgraded reaches 730 item level. It is the only cloak you can obtain in The War Within Season 3. The cloak provides a passive damage proc and one special Fiber socket, which allows you to pick a single secondary stat.

As Fire, you will want to socket it with Pure Chronomantic Fiber (or the cheaper Chronomantic Fiber).

Disclaimer: Just like any other gear, your best trinkets heavily depend on the gear you already have, and which level of content you are doing. We strongly recommend you simulate your own character to ensure you equip what is best for yourself, instead of the general recommendations below.

There are various trinkets that are good for Fire in The War Within Season 3. Below we list the most important options. All of these trinkets are are very strong and you can generally pick whichever you manage to obtain.

• Azhiccaran Parapodia — Incredibly strong passive trinket that is simply equip and forget. Best trinket available if you can get it at a high item level.
• Diamantine Voidcore — Another very strong passive trinket. Ideally you want to burn down your mana to below 25% before a fight starts. You can do this by spamming Arcane Explosion before the fight starts, however it takes a while and can be easy to forget. If you do not want to do this, it is still best in slot, just not as strong.
• Ara-Kara Sacbrood — A strong passive trinket. If you do not have a Voidglass weapon (like Voidglass Sovereign's Blade) to activate the weapon effect, this trinket is slightly better than Diamantine Voidcore, but if you do have the Voidglass weapon, the Diamantine Voidcore is slightly better.
• Astral Antenna — Another very strong passive trinket, very similar to the other options.
• Screams of a Forgotten Sky — Another very strong passive trinket, very similar to the other options.

Additionally, if you are unable to obtain those best trinkets above, or want more flexibility, there are various other options:

• Araz's Ritual Forge — A strong on-use trinket. Slightly worse overall DPS compared to the passive trinkets above, but offers the ability to increase your burst DPS significantly for content where you need to burst down a specific target very quickly. Use as close to on cooldown as possible, but only use it in combination with Combustion
• Signet of the Priory — A strong on-use trinket. Slightly worse than Araz's Ritual Forge, but still a very good option. Use as close to on cooldown as possible, but only use it in combination with Combustion
• Empowering Crystal of Anub'ikkaj — A strong passive trinket. Slightly weaker than the best options above, but a strong alternative.
• Funhouse Lens — A strong passive trinket. Slightly weaker than the best options above, but a strong alternative.

Disclaimer: What to craft is highly dependent on your own personal goals, what content you are doing, and what items you have looted so far. We strongly suggest you run your own simulations on raidbots by using droptimizer to figure out your personal best crafting options.

The best crafted Embellishments are Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension + Writhing Armor Banding.

Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension can only go on a weapon or off-hand, and due to crafted items being slightly lower item level, we want to avoid crafting a weapon. Due to this, off-hand with Haste + Mastery is our best option for the Darkmoon Embellishment.

Writhing Armor Banding can go on any armor piece, so there is a lot more freedom. However, due to the lower item level of crafted pieces, we want to craft this on an item slot with lower stats, like Bracers or Belt. For the best-in-slot setup we craft it on Consecrated Cuffs, again with Haste + Mastery.

However, based on your current gear, the best option for you might be different. Haste + Mastery is also not hard-locked in. As long as you put haste on an item, the other stat can be anything, usually your lowest other stat, but the best way to know what to craft is to sim your own character.

Keep in mind you can craft lower item level items that do not cost a Spark, and apply an embellishment to those. For example, you can craft Bracers or Belt with Writhing Armor Banding without needing a Spark, so you can craft this to get the benefit of the Embellishment without having to wait for an additional spark.

1. One of the following 3:
   • Vagabond's Torch with Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension is best-in-slot so will be used for the entire season. However it provides significantly less immediate DPS than crafting a weapon unless you loot a strong 1-handed weapon early on. If you do loot or expect to loot a 720+ weapon early on, you should craft Vagabond's Torch first. Craft with Haste + Mastery or Versatility.
   • Vagabond's Bounding Baton (double-check you pick the Intellect staff!) with Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension and Haste + Mastery is a very solid starter option that grants significant immediate power. Although not technically best-in-slot, it requires fewer Crests than a 1-hand + off-hand, so you save on crests and can upgrade other slots instead early on.
   • An Intellect main-hand weapon ( Scepter of Radiant Magics for example) with Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension and Haste + Mastery is another very good first option. Although also technically not best-in-slot, you will use a 720 weapon for a long time, and it grants an immense amount of immediate power. Craft with Haste + Mastery. Crafting this is preferable over a Staff if you can get a 720+ off-hand quickly, otherwise do either the staff or off-hand.
2. After either a weapon or off-hand with Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension, craft Consecrated Cuffs with Writhing Armor Banding, with Haste + Mastery. Wrists is best in slot, but you can craft any other non tier slot which would be a large item level upgrade, if you need more immediate power.
3. Next, chase Item Level where needed. None of the crafted options aside from your first 2 will be best-in-slot, so just go for whichever slot gives you the biggest item level bump.
4. If you crafted an intellect weapon, after looting a 720+ weapon, drop the crafted weapon and switch to the Embellished off-hand option instead.
5. At this point, you are mostly done crafting. You can spend future Sparks on off-spec items, alternatively statted crafts for different situations, and so on.

The Tier Set is comprised of 5 items of the Augur's Ephemeral Plumage set. Wearing 2 and 4 pieces from the set gives you DPS bonuses, based on your spec and Hero Talents spec.

• Sunfury:
  • Mage Sunfury 11.2 Class Set 2pc — Spellfire Spheres spell damage bonus increased by 1.0%. Mana Cascade now grants an additional 0.5% Haste per stack.
  • Mage Sunfury 11.2 Class Set 4pc — Exceptional spells cast by your Phoenix adds an additional 0.3 sec to the duration of your next Hyperthermia. When your Phoenix expires, it empowers you even further, granting Lesser Time Warp, which grants Haste, and increased spell damage for 10 sec.
• Frostfire:
  • Mage Frostfire 11.2 Class Set 2pc — Comet Storm and Frostfire Burst damage increased by 15%. Frostfire Bolt damage increased by 8%. Comet Storm, Frostfire Burst, and Frostfire Bolt now apply Ignite at 75% effectiveness.
  • Mage Frostfire 11.2 Class Set 4pc — Casting Pyroblast has a 20% chance to also cast a Glacial Spike dealing Frost damage. Glacial Spikes cast this way don't root. Additionally, Glacial Spike now benefits from Ignite.

The Tier Set Bonus is absolutely mandatory for competitive play, and you should prioritize obtaining it. You can use the Matrix Catalyst to convert regular items (from Mythic+, for example) into Tier Items.

You only need 4 pieces out of 5 to get both set bonuses. We recommend you get all items except for the Helm due to it having low haste. Check out the BiS List for more information.

Although none of the bonuses grant any meaningful changes to the rotation, there are some minor adjustments that can be made. To see the full rotation including the tier set, check out the rotation page.

Durable Information Securing Container is a belt introduced in patch 11.1.7 from Overcharged Delves. As of 11.2, it is now obtained via normal Delves.

If you already have it at 701 item level, it is generally going to remain best until you get a belt at 704+ (Hero track 4+) item level or higher, but it depends on your other gear and which belt you have. The best way to know is to sim your own character.

There are multiple socket options all very close in value, and which is best heavily depends on your gear and talents. Spark Burst is a great all-round option, however, it might be different for your own character. Make sure to sim your own character if you want to be 100% optimal.
