BiS List for Fire Mage

This list contains the highest DPS setup from all sources for Fire Mage. There are often many items for a single slot that are very close or even identical DPS, especially if you simply shuffle secondary stats around between different slots. Due to this, you should only use the list below as a general guideline of what a set of end-game gear looks like, not to make immediate gearing choices.

This list is by no means a replacement for simming yourself. Depending on your previous Great Vault choices and the gear you have available, your BiS gear might look different in some spots than the below list.

In a few slots, I list items from Mythic+, which can only be obtained at Mythic track from The Great Vault. Generally these items are only best-in-slot at Mythic track, not in their Heroic track variants. You are usually better off using a higher item level piece than the best-in-slot piece if you cannot obtain it at Mythic track.

Mythic+ Gear BiS List for Fire Mage

This list contains the highest DPS setup with farmable gear from Season 1 Mythic+ Dungeons. This includes Tier pieces and 2 Embellished items due to their importance, even though they are not technically from Mythic+ Dungeons, since they are obtainable via The Great Vault / Matrix Catalyst / Crafting.

This list is by no means a replacement for simming yourself. Depending on your previous Great Vault choices and the gear you have available, your BiS gear might look different in some spots than the below list.

TipsWhich Dungeons Should I Farm?

There are a few outstanding dungeons due to specific items dropping in them making them very good dungeons to farm:

• Windrunner Spire: Drops both the best-in-slot on-use trinket ( Emberwing Feather), and the strongest non-raid passive trinket ( Heart of Wind).
• Nexus-Point Xenas: Drops a strong Staff (meaning you do not need to farm an off-hand) and the Omission of Light Ring set, which is best-in-slot when not Raiding.

This list contains the highest DPS setup, only using gear from the Dreamrift, Voidspire, and March on Quel'Danas Raid. This includes 2 Embellished items as well due to their importance.

This list is by no means a replacement for simming yourself. Depending on your previous Great Vault choices and the gear you have available to yourself, your BiS gear might look different than this list in some spots.

TipsWhat Raid Items Are Most Important?

If you need to submit a list of highly-important items to your raidleader, or simply want to focus on the most important bosses and items, we got you covered!

• Locus-Walker's Ribbon: The best passive Trinket. Note: Gaze of the Alnseer is virtually tied with Locus Walker, so you can pick either.
• Robes of Endless Oblivion: Best-in-slot Chest, having only a a single secondary on it (Haste, Fire's best stat) making it unique from all other available chests. On-top of that, there are no strong other Chest pieces available this season. (not a single Haste + Mastery chest)
• Eye of Midnight: Best-in-slot Ring due to an extra socket which cannot be obtained anywhere else.
• Amulet of the Abyssal Hymn: Best-in-slot Amulet due to an extra socket which cannot be obtained anywhere else.

FAQWhich Tier Set Pieces Do I Want?

For Season 1 as a Fire Mage, you will want to try and prioritize getting the Helmet, Shoulder, Legs, and Gloves set pieces. However, getting 4-set quickly is more important than the slots you obtain it in. Long-term, it is important to get the non-set Robes of Endless Oblivion Chest piece because it is the only well statted Chest available.

There are a great number of Trinkets available for Fire. Generally, you will want to use a strong on-use Trinket to pair it with Combustion, and then a strong passive Trinket as your second Trinket. To see how to use on-use Trinkets in the rotation, check out the Rotation page below.

Aim to pick up one trinket from each of these categories as a pair:

On-Use - Emberwing Feather, or, alternatively Vaelgor's Final Stare (weaker)
Passive - Locus-Walker's Ribbon, or, alternatively Gaze of the Alnseer

However, as this trinket takes a little while to ramp up, and stacks drop quickly out of combat, it can be worse in Mythic+ if you are not chainpulling fast enough to keep the stacks. Gaze of the Alnseer - Click for Details Slightly worse than Locus-Walker's Ribbon on paper, however, as it requires no ramp up, it can perform better if you are doing content where you often leave combat, like Mythic+ if you are not chainpulling.
A Tier	Vaelgor's Final Stare - Click for Details A slightly worse on-use trinket than Emberwing Feather. 1.5 Minute cooldown means it does not align nicely with Combustion, meaning you can only use it every second Combustion. Heart of Wind — Second-best passive Trinket
B Tier	Crucible of Erratic Energies - Click for Details Very strong for its item level. It can only be obtained at Champion track, limiting its item level. However, it is very strong for its item level, making it a very good option until you can obtain Mythic track Trinkets. In Patch 12.0.5, you get access to 2 new systems to improve your gear:

• Nebulous Voidcore can be used to guarantee items from a specific boss or dungeon. Each time you use it, you are guaranteed to obtain one item from that boss or dungeon, and that item is then removed from the pool of possible items. Then the next time you use it, you are guaranteed any of the remaining items, which means that you will obtain the item you are after from that boss or dungeon within a few uses.
• Ascendant Voidcore can be used to increase the itemlevel of Hero or Myth items beyond their previous maximum itemlevel. This can only be used on items which are at the max itemlevel of their track, as well as maximum quality Radiance-Crafted items.

The best items to chase after depend entirely on what items you have already obtained so far, and which content you are clearing. For example, if you have not yet cleared a specific boss on Mythic, but expect to do so soon, you should not use the Voidcore on the Heroic version of that boss. Below I list a generic priority list of Voidcore items, but for the best results tailored to your own character, you should use Raidbots Droptimizer.

Voidcore (Bonus Roll) Priority

1. Myth Track Weapon — if you do not have a crafted weapon
2. Myth Track Emberwing Feather
3. Mythic Locus-Walker's Ribbon
4. Myth Track Weapon — to replace a crafted weapon
5. Remaining BiS List items

Ascendant Voidcores can only be used on Weapons and Trinkets. Below we list the general recommendation:

1. Your Weapon is the highest priority
2. Your Trinkets are your second and third priority:
   • Emberwing Feather is you second priority
   • Locus-Walker's Ribbon is your third priority
   • Any other Trinkets you might be using instead.

However, depending on your current gear or which bosses you can kill on Mythic/Heroic, the exact best order might be different. For the optimal answer, you should sim yourself. Generally, you will want to prioritize Myth track items over Hero track ones, unless you know for sure you will not obtain a certain item on Myth track. As an example, it is fine to upgrade a Hero track Locus-Walker's Ribbon if you do not expect to kill Mythic Crown of the Cosmos, or obtain a Myth track Trinket from Mythic+.

What to craft is highly dependent on your own personal goals, what content you are doing, and what items you have looted so far. We strongly suggest you run your own simulations on raidbots by using droptimizer to figure out your personal best crafting options.

Make sure to check the crafting order below for more context, since the best Embellishments are not always the best to craft first!

• Arcanoweave Lining (Armor)
• Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt (Weapons)

As your ability to craft items will be time-gated in the initial stages of Midnight, we highly recommend getting a Weapon as soon as possible, unless you can reliably get one elsewhere. Once you have a good weapon, work on your other Embellished Item next, and then craft whichever pieces you do not have high-item-level versions of yet.

Eventually, you will re-craft (or fully replace) the Weapon so that it is not Embellished anymore to open up a slot for a second Arcanoweave Lining, but only after upgrading low item level pieces.

Fire Mage Crafted Gear Priority

1. Aln'hara Cane with Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt: Getting a weapon craft early provides an immense amount of power. If you expect to get a Myth track weapon early, you can skip this.
2. Martyr's Bindings with Arcanoweave Lining: Another solid early craft for a lot of early power. Can craft any non-tier slot instead if it would provide a bigger item level upgrade.
3. Any item you do not have on Myth track yet.
4. When most or all of your gear is Myth track, you will want to replace (with a Mythic track Weapon) or re-craft your Aln'hara Cane so that it is no longer Embellished, and then craft a Adherent's Silken Shroud with Arcanoweave Lining.

You can add sockets to Helmets, Belts, and Bracers with the Radiant Jewelbinder consumable that you can get if you do not select any of the choices in your Great Vault. Not picking a choice will grant you tokens, six of which can be traded in for the Radiant Jewelbinder item that allows you to add a socket to the above piece of gear, if you acquired them in Season 1.

Early into the season, or if you have just started playing an alt, you will have limited access to upgrading-crests such as Myth Dawncrest. These can be used to upgrade gear to higher itemlevels. Since crests are limited each week and upgrading different items costs the same amount of crests regardless, you will want to prioritize your usage of them on items you plan on not replacing anytime soon, or that offer the biggest benefits.

Fire Mage Crest Upgrade Priority

Weapon (Staff to save crests) ➜ Trinkets ➜ Helmet/Chest/Legs ➜ Shoulders/Gloves/Belt/Boots

This order is determined by the power you get from upgrading these slots. Of course, which is best to upgrade can be heavily influenced based on what you loot, as you can avoid using Crests altogether by looting higher item level items in those slots, so make sure that you do not blindly follow the provided upgrade order!
