General Information

On this page, we list all the abilities from the Sisters of the Moon encounter in Tomb of Sargeras. The idea is to give you a solid understanding of the encounter before you read the strategy.

Overview

The Sisters of the Moon comprise a three phase encounter that is almost exclusively single target, with a different sister active and damageable in each phase. Meanwhile, the other two sisters will be untargetable but present, attacking the raid with their spells. This encounter features a wide variety of abilities, with many of them only occurring during specific phases. While this encounter is complex in nature, it can be tackled with the appropriate knowledge and positioning detailed within this guide.

The Sisters of the Moon share a health pool.

All Phases

2.1.

Font of Elune

The floor, where the encounter takes place, continually cycles through the phases of the moon. Players standing on the light side of the moon will gain stacks of Lunar Suffusion Icon Lunar Suffusion, while players on the dark side of the moon will acquire stacks of Umbra Suffusion Icon Umbra Suffusion. Switching sides of the moon triggers Astral Purge Icon Astral Purge and clears all current stacks of suffusion.

2.1.1.

Lunar Suffusion

Players standing on the light side of the moon gain stacks of Lunar Suffusion Icon Lunar Suffusion every 3 seconds, stacking indefinitely. Each stack increases Arcane damage taken by 3%.

2.1.2.

Umbra Suffusion

Players standing on the dark side of the moon gain stacks of Umbra Suffusion Icon Umbra Suffusion every 3 seconds, stacking indefinitely. Each stack increases Shadow damage taken by 3%.

2.1.3.

Astral Purge

Astral Purge Icon Astral Purge is triggered when a player changes sides of the moon. This inflicts moderate Spellshadow damage (the Spellshadow school acts as both Arcane and Shadow damage), increased by your current suffusion stacks. It also triggers a debuff called Astral Vulnerability Icon Astral Vulnerability, which increases damage taken from Astral Purge Icon Astral Purge by 50% for 2 seconds.

Phase One: The Huntress

In this phase Huntress Kasparian is the active and damageable sister.

3.1.

Huntress Kasparian

3.1.1.

Twilight Glaive

Twilight Glaive Icon Twilight Glaive is targeted on a ranged player. It travels in a line and is preceeded by an arrow under the boss, marking the path. The glaive is avoidable, even by the targeted player, and deals heavy Shadow damage to anyone caught in its path. After traveling, it returns to Huntress Kasparian, also dealing damage on its return.

3.1.2.

Moon Glaive

Moon Glaive Icon Moon Glaive is targeted on the current tank, and can bounce between up to 3 targets, dealing heavy physical damage. The damage is split evenly between the targets, and the closest players are preferred. The initial target will be affected with Discorporate Icon Discorporate, prompting a taunt swap.

Discorporate Icon Discorporate decreases all healing and absorption received by 75% for 30 seconds, however, it can be instantly cleared by triggering an Astral Purge Icon Astral Purge.

3.2.

Captain Yathae Moonstrike

3.2.1.

Incorporeal Shot

Incorporeal Shot Icon Incorporeal Shot is aimed at a random player in the raid, charging up over 6 seconds. The shot deals massive Shadow damage after 6 seconds of locking on, during which time the ability is designated by a large arrow. The raid can intercept the arrow, splitting it evenly and distributing the damage to each player in line with the target and Captain Moonstrike. This damage can also be immuned by abilities such as Cloak of Shadows Icon Cloak of Shadows or Ice Block Icon Ice Block.

3.2.2.

Twilight Volley

Twilight Volley Icon Twilight Volley causes arrows to rain from the sky on a target location, with an 8-yard radius. This inflicts moderate Shadow damage to anyone in the circle every 1.5 seconds. The hail of arrows persists for 12 seconds.

3.2.3.

Shadow Shot

Shadow Shot Icon Shadow Shot deals moderate Shadow damage to a random player in the raid. It is an instant and direct attack.

3.3.

Priestess Lunaspyre

3.3.1.

Embrace of the Eclipse

Embrace of the Eclipse Icon Embrace of the Eclipse shields Huntress Kasparian for 12 seconds, absorbing a large amount of incoming damage. She also debuffs the raid, absorbing a moderate amount of healing taken for 12 seconds. If either of these abilities is not fully depleted by either damage or healing by the time they expire, the remaining damage will be dealt to all players within 70 yards as Arcane damage.

3.3.2.

Moon Burn

Moon Burn Icon Moon Burn strikes a random target, inflicting moderate Arcane damage every 2 seconds for 30 seconds. This DoT can be cleared by triggering an Astral Purge Icon Astral Purge.

3.3.3.

Lunar Strike

Lunar Strike Icon Lunar Strike damages a random member of the raid for moderate Arcane damage. It is an instant and direct attack.

Phase Two: Bow of the Night

In this phase Captain Yathae Moonstrike is the active and damageable sister.

4.1.

Captain Yathae Moonstrike

4.1.1.

Call Moontalon

Captain Yathae Moonstrike summons Moontalon with Call Moontalon Icon Call Moontalon, an avian ally that fights by her side. Moontalon will attack the highest threat target, dealing Physical damage. When Moontalon reaches 30% health, it will begin to cast Deathly Screech Icon Deathly Screech every few seconds, dealing moderate Shadow damage to the raid. This damage is increased by 25% each time it is cast.

4.1.2.

Rapid Shot

Rapid Shot Icon Rapid Shot focuses one player, inflicting moderate Shadow damage every 0.5 seconds for 5 seconds. The damage can be immuned but not split or intercepted.

4.1.3.

Twilight Volley

Twilight Volley Icon Twilight Volley is also used in this phase, identical to Phase One.

4.2.

Huntress Kasparian

4.2.1.

Glaive Storm

Glaive Storm Icon Glaive Storm is a projectile that shatters into multiple glaives, each one infliction heavy Arcane damage to anyone hit.

4.2.2.

Twilight Glaive

Twilight Glaive Icon Twilight Glaive is also used in this phase, identical to Phase One.

4.2.3.

Spectral Glaive

Spectral Glaive Icon Spectral Glaive targets a random player and bounces between up to 3 targets total. It deals moderate Spellshadow damage.

Priestess Lunaspyre

4.3.1.

Embrace of the Eclipse

Embrace of the Eclipse Icon Embrace of the Eclipse is also used in this phase, identical to Phase One.

Moon Burn

Phase Three: Wrath of Elune

In this phase Priestess Lunaspyre is the active and damageable sister.

Priestess Lunaspyre

5.1.1.

Lunar Beacon

Lunar Beacon Icon Lunar Beacon marks an enemy with Lunar energy, inflicting moderate Arcane damage every second for 6 seconds. When Lunar Beacon Icon Lunar Beacon expires the target's location will be bombarded by a Lunar Barrage Icon Lunar Barrage every second for 3 seconds, inflicting moderate Arcane damage every 1.5 seconds and silencing anyone hit while they are caught in the barrage.

5.1.2.

Lunar Fire

Lunar Fire Icon Lunar Fire burns the current target, inflicting Arcane damage every 2 seconds for 30 seconds. This effect stacks.

5.1.3.

Moon Burn

Moon Burn Icon Moon Burn is also used in this phase, identical to Phase One.

5.2.

Huntress Kasparian

5.2.1.

Glaive Storm

Glaive Storm Icon Glaive Storm is also used in this phase, identical to Phase Two.
