Gear in Arknights: Endfield
Gear grant powerful bonuses to Operators in Arknights: Endfield. Read this article to learn all about how gear works and how to obtain gear.
How Gear Works in Arknights: Endfield
Gear equipped by your Operators will grant a variety of attribute bonuses and boost your Operators combat power and is crafted through your Automated Industry Complex. There are five different rarities of Gear indicated by colour: Grey, Green, Blue, Purple, and Gold. Additionally, there are 3-piece set bonuses, and static passive stat boosts for your Operator's which improve with rarity.
Gear consists of four pieces of equipment: An Armor piece, a pair of Gloves, and two Kit Pieces. Gear is available as part of a Set or as an individual Non-Set piece. Non-Set will be armor without a set bonus on them, while Sets will have Bonuses for wearing three or more pieces. Different gear pieces can be mixed and matched from different sets freely, but those who are looking to fully unleash the potential of their operator will want to pick sets with 3-piece bonuses and attribute boosts that match your Operator's strengths the best.

How to Obtain Gear
As mentioned, gear is obtained through the Automated Industry Complex. Crafting gear in and of itself is a simple process with each tier of gear having specific requirements. Gear will require two items from you: Decryption Crystals, and a Specific Refined Ore Product.
The ore product corresponds to the gear rarity:
- Amethyst - Grey (T1)
- Ferrium - Blue (T2)
- Cryston - Purple (T3)
- Cuprium - Gold (T4)
Some of the items required to craft higher level gear are exclusive to later game stages as well, such as Cuprium which is only attainable from Wuling.
Decryption Crystals are attained through defeating enemies. However, Ore components, require refinement from the Automated Industry Complex facilities to produce making them more difficult. Additionally, a gear recipe is required to unlock the recipe itself.
As an example, Ferrium Ore is processed through the refinement unit, becoming Ferrium and sent through the Gearing unit and combined with Origiocrust to produce a Ferrium Component. Lastly, the produced Ferrium Component is combined with Decryption Crystal in a Gearing Unit to produce gear with amounts required depending on level and rarity.
Gear Recipies
Gear Recipes act as a pacing mechanic of sorts. Once you acquire the gear recipe you can then craft the gear from your Automated Industry Complex at any time. In order to get these Recipes though you'll need to increase your Authority Level. Gear Crafting Recipe's are direct rewards for leveling up your Authority level which is more or less an overall account level. To unlock all available armor recipe's you'll need to be Authority Level 54, so plan accordingly.
What Does Gear Do For Characters in Arknights: Endfield?
Gear provides a flat defense boost, a Primary Stat boost, a Secondary Stat boost, and where applicable a 3 piece set bonus effect. Each roll of the armor is fixed with the boosts provided being completely static.
Likewise, the level of the armor is set when you manufacture, meaning if you want a higher-level piece of armor, you have to craft a completely new piece. Check our character guides for recommendations! The goal of the gear system is to match bonuses characters that have a primary focus on the like stat. As an example, The Operator Snowshine has a Primary Attribute of Strength and a Secondary Attribute of Will.
Catalysts, And Gear Improvement
While attribute bonuses, and set effects are fixed on all of your gear, it is possible to improve the bonuses you're getting from some higher end gear. This process involves sacrificing a piece of gear and a Catalyst to upgrade a chosen attribute on your main gear piece. This process is known as Artificing the armor. Artificing is handled from the crafting tab, but it won't show up until you progress enough.
Catalysts are acquired using Stock Bills (e.g. Valley Stock Bill and Wuling Stock Bill, which are earned from performing trades at your various outposts. Upgrades aren't guaranteed to succeed. Successful Artificing can have a number of effects such as increasing the point values to specific attribute bonuses or even grant effects to the armor such as Ultimate Gain Efficiency. If your Artificing process fails, however, the catalyst will be consumed as payment but the piece of like gear offered will be returned.
Wrapping Up
The gear system in Arknights Endfield is simple enough to implement that it won't require you to put a ton of effort into understanding the gears specifics outside of how to build it and how to Artifice it. Most of your build crafting will come from the interplay of your operator's primary and secondary attributes and the gears attribute boosts and set bonuses!
Once you have the basic knowledge of how to achieve your desired result the rest is all about experimenting to find the best possible outcome for the operators in your team. Thanks to the attribute bonuses being static on like gear pieces, there's no need to reroll or hunt for the same gear type repeatedly to get your desired buffs. This makes mastering the gear system in Arknights: Endfield easy, giving players the opportunity to focus their attention on other aspects of the game such as mastering the Automated Industry Complex system and farming for weapon essences which are random rolled instead.
