Gunbreaker Tank Gear and Best in Slot — Endwalker 6.3
On this page, you will find the best gear and best-in-slot items for your Gunbreaker Tank in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker (Patch 6.3).
Gunbreaker Gearsets (BiS)
This page will cover the endgame gearing options offered to a Gunbreaker. As a tank, Gunbreakers use the Fending set along with every other tank, so sets that share melds with other tanks will be highlighted if you wish to play multiple and not have to remeld for each one.
Gunbreaker can play at many GCD tiers, and the only way to know if a GCD tier is comfortable for the player is through fight experimentation. Below, we have outlined multiple BiS sets with varying GCD tiers, as well as recommendations from skilled Gunbreaker players on the scenarios they are used in.
Abyssos Savage BiS: Seekers of the Sun, Midlanders, or Sea Wolves
The Abyssos Ring of Fending that drops from The Fifth Circle (Savage) has Determination and Tenacity substats. Due to this, certain races have different BiS due to the racial strength differences. We've outlined two different sets at 2.45 and 2.42 that you can use with and without the raid ring. The sets below use two tome rings.
Savage BiS — 2.5 GCD
Benefits from not having your Gnashing Fang's cooldown be faster than No Mercy's cooldown, as well as the highest Direct Hit rate, increasing overall DPS. Mistakes and downtime become more punishing due to the slow speed.
Savage BiS — 2.45 GCD
Portions of these gear sets can only be acquired by acquiring the current raid tiers gear. A guide for the content can be found links below.
With only two Skill Speed melds on the Abyssos Sawback, this is a slow set that is prone to losing the 9th GCD within No Mercy if the player's connection is unreliable.
Savage BiS — 2.42 GCD
A faster set that can get crucial GCDs before downtime in fights. Skill Speed melds help us achieve the standard 2.42 GCD that is often used in full uptime scenarios.
Abyssos Savage BiS: All Other Races
The sets below use the raid ring and the tome ring.

Savage BiS — 2.42 GCD
A faster set that can get crucial GCDs before downtime in fights. Skill Speed melds help us achieve the standard 2.42 GCD that is often used in full uptime scenarios.
Dragonsong's Reprise (Ultimate) BiS — 2.40 GCD
This is the recommended, tried, and true set to use in DSR.
