Do I need more haste?

I'm debating enchanting for haste. some geared DK  told me I should have 50% haste or so. I feel like if I had some more haste I could get more attacks in.

I should note I just recently went for NP and need to switch out a talent for unholyblight. with that said I think my dps is lacking due to my lack of haste but feel free to let me know if thats idea is wrong.

I'm assuming you're talking about unholy since your armory is set to that.

So far I haven't heard of any DK stacking that much haste. I roll with Multi>Mastery>rest and my results are more than satisfactory.

This would lead me to believe it could be a rotational hickup, so I'd encourage you to post logs so some log-savvy person here can take a look.

I'd post my own armory for comparison, but I've logged out in tank gear.

necroblight lacking due to haste? no sir.

Unholy DK stat priority is either Multistrike>mastery>haste>crit OR Mastery>Multistrike>haste>crit

Necroblight aoe on paper likes more mastery but with high enough multistrike multi comes out ahead only after stacking a lot soooo yeah. I stick with multistrike myself for necro but either one works.

You should indeed post logs because we can help with your rotation. Where necroblight DPS can falter is basically in 2-3 main places, too many festering strikes, not enough soul reapers, bad disease uptime. For all DKS haste is an undesirable stat. Even then for a long time I can't really remember the last times DKs really valued haste. I think at the end of CATA frost 2h did for crazy killing machine procs but beyond that no.

So, not sure what your geared dk comrade was thinking but I cannot say his/her advice was good. Don't let gear ilvl lead you to believe they are a good player SOOOOOO many people get carried by their guilds and then suck dps wise.

TL;DR - stack multistrike then mastery, go get some logs, and we can perfect your rotation :D

or get redfellas weak aura script, that thing truly is amazing

You definitely don't want more haste for unholy. I'm 20 ilvl higher than you and only have 7% higher haste on the armory, and I feel like I have as much haste as I could ever need.

I was playing frost in Highmaul so I had a lot of haste/multistrike gear when I first switched to unholy, and I had a lot of issues with rune capping, especially when I was going through a scourge strike spam phase of my rotation. The rotation is a lot smoother, and my dps is a lot higher now that I have more mastery/multistrike gear and a lot less haste.

Definitely post some logs though, like our resident possessed ant eater said, there are a couple main points/concepts to necroblight that will make up the majority of your dps. Just rolling 15 stacks of NP correctly will do 20% of your total dps on gruul, and 40% of your dps on operator. and soul reapering immediately at 45% and then on CD afterwards will do another 10-15% of your total dps in just 15-20 attacks.

I usually sim my characters to get the best possible results. I enjoy the process quite a lot and since I reached 120, I wanted to find out the best build of the spec. (Note, I didn't want to find out what to play, but rather how my own build fares in comarison.) I rarely mind a 1-2% difference. If it goes above 2%, I really mind a change. What this thread is about is mainly to bring something in the attention of those who help making the class guides, especially the talent choices. To my surprise, I was awed to find out that certain talents outperform previous "Standard" choices in the endgame, probably due to the stat squish.

The Frost go-to build (top dps) would probably be along the lines of <Icy Talons / Cold Heart - Runic Attenuation - Frozen Pulse - Gathering Storm - Breath of Sindragosa>. What I found out primarily was that after the removal of legendaries, Cold Heart severely underperforms at most given situations resulting in a major dps drop due to the low mastery. Gathering Storm also suffers from the same problem and most of the times, Frostwyrm's Fury is better overall. The biggest surprise of them all, however, was that Inexorable Assault overperforms quite a lot, and is the first reason why I made the topic. I then started simming with the above in mind and I came across a build that some would not consider on par with top dog builds around the meta, which is the use of Horn of Winter which overperforms both its other two options when using the Breath build. Talent Sim can be seen here. Another intresting thing, which I loved, was that the 2nd best build uses Obliteration as a lvl 100 talent and no other build surpassed it (Other than the first one, obviously). So, I encourage frost players out there to give their other, less common talents a try. To the class guide author(s), I believe that the two "underdog" talents will earn their spot in the class guides.

Thank you for your time reading this.

      About Us
Skunkworks is a guild for players who can not or do not want to commit to the time-intensive raid schedules of traditional "hardcore" guilds.
However, we still maintain a high caliber player environment and make an efficient use of our raiding time.
We raid Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 - 11:00 PST, just 8 hours a week and never more.

We are very protective of our guild environment and selective in recruitment. We are looking for solid players mechanically as well as intellectually.
We all get paid to deal with idiots, why should we pay to spend our leisure time with them as well?

Skunkworks has been around for multiple expansions and has historically always been at the top of the 2-night raiding guild scene.

      Hey dear fury friends,
i always used Azshari Salad, as my buff food for the tempo buff. Now as mastery pulls ahead of haste in the stat weights, i asked myself whether i should just use the Nightborne Delicacy Platter for a flat mastery buff, while maintaining around ~27% Haste.

I read the guide from Archimtiros, and i think both buff foods are fine, but do u switch your buff food at a certain point? Or is it depending on the encounter (single target vs. multiple targets)?

Hello all! I figured i'd make this thread to get some up to date information on the AOE rotation for unholy.  Currently i'm 935 ilvl, and I run Incstructor's fourth lesson and Soul. (For lack of a better option.) However it is my understanding that these two legendaries make for the strongest aoe rotation. Is this true?

That is my first question. My second is what is the priority for aoe when running these two. Is it to wait for defile to drop, then festering wound a target a couple times, then Scourge Strike? Or is the priority to just put Wounds on then pop them asap, dropping the defile whenever it's available. Typically I wait for defile before I start building Wounds, but given the soul and the extra talent, i suspect it's better to just aoe without Defile if it's unavailable or perhaps just better to rarely spend runes on defile? Curious as to your thoughts!
