The pawn string for MM Shows Agility with 1 and Mastery with 1.3 whereas guide said Agi would be a more important stat.

This thread is for comments about our Marksmanship Hunter guide for Legion.

Mark of the Windrunner refreshes Vulnerability ... unless the "Patient Sniper" talent is taken.  Might want to clarify that in the text --

Quote

With the Icon Mark of the Windrunner trait that you unlock early by following our path, it applies Vulnerable Icon Vulnerable to the target.

Especially since Patient Sniper is a recommended talent.

I see that the page hasn't been updated since launch, but I do have a question. I see the Artifact paths on the page has stuff at 3/3 instead of 4/4. Will the difference change how we should spend the artifact power?

I might have answered my own question. I see that the relics add a rank to whichever trait they might affect. Disregard.

Arcane shot is replaced by Sidewinders if you take that talent.  Otherwise, it is still very much a thing.

Am I completely missing it? I can't find the stat priority % rates?  NOT STAT PRIORITY -Stat percentages for MM hunters.

I had a question you have mastery over agility and i was wondering why and if there is a soft cap on mastery or just want to stack as high as possible. I also read in another guide the opposite where agility was before mastery.

ye this stats weights makes itemization complicated, items with 20 more ilvl often ends up worst than blue ones with mastery thats a little sad. I hope they are well calculated becouse i gear around them

Question regarding windburst. On the priority list its currently third but with the stipulation that vulnerable isn't on the target. If you get a lucky streak of marking procs and the vulnerable debuff stays on the target for awhile I feel like I am rarely casting windburst. Is this correct?

It's a good point. The guide lists Agility third after Haste. After that, it indicates that Agility is most important. could we get some clarification? It seems inconsistent.

Azor, thanks for all the effort with the guide and this thread!

To Azortharion : Hello, I follow Hunter Guides in Icy Veins since a while and those are very usefull for me. But I have one question : you say that " Marksmanship is currently considered the strongest raiding spec in Emerald Nightmare raiding ", but when I look the currents simcrafts at 840 ilvl, Marksmanship is far behind other hunter specs and other class dps specs against 1 or 3 targets. So can you explain to me why do you recommend this spec for raiding in Emerald Nightmare ?

PS : I apologize for my approximate English, I'm French ! ^^

The SimCrafts you're looking at are misleading and not representative of meaningful Mythic raiding content. The sims are run at 19 artifact traits (for no real reason as we'll have way more than that going into Mythic anyway) which leaves Marksmanship 1 trait short of Bullseye which is a massive damage increase. That's just 1 out of like 1 billion ways in which those sims are a misleading waste of time.

i ran simcraft simulation for my character and i got totally different results. ( Pawn: Agility=1, CritRating=0.85, HasteRating=0.82, MasteryRating=0.97, Versatility=0.81, Dps=3.33. Can You expalin where i did mistake and why is it so different, or explain how to do it right and keep up to date for our personal characters?

Azortharion I would appreciate your opinion on something. I've been putting AP into my MM weapon with the intention of raiding as MM. Well while doing a mythic dungeon this evening I was playing BM and got the BM legendary belt. My question is this, does this change my outlook with regards to what spec I should play for raiding? Does having the legendary belt for BM make BM significantly stronger than MM without a legendary?

Thank you for your time and answer :)

Guest Stat Priority

So on the Marksmanship Hunter DPS Stat Priority page, you list the following:

The stat priority for a Marksmanship Hunter is:

  1. Mastery;
  2. Haste;
  3. Agility;
  4. Critical Strike.
  5. Versatility.

Due to the verbiage used, "the stat priority is" leads one to believe that Mastery is better because it's listed as number 1 and so forth. You have Agility listed as number 3. But if you scroll down further on the page under explanation of stats you say Agility is your primary statistic. It provides you with Attack Power, which determines the damage your abilities do across the board. So what is the exact order of things? Do we look with gear that has mastery and haste over agility?

Agility is on every piece of gear you wear except jewelry and possibly trinkets, always.  Secondary stats (Crit, Haste, Mastery, and Vers), are more variable in what is on each piece of gear.

@Azortharion Why some mm hunter going for Mastery>Crit and not Mastery>Haste? Some change in stat prio?

Given that the expansion has been out for barely over a week, there is a limited selection of gear available.
