The latest Heroes of the Storm content update includes Garden of Terror revamp, Brightwing/Kerrigan Hero reworks, Fall of King's Crest event, and a new Ranked Play Season!

General

New Event: Fall of King’s Crest

  • The Fall of Kings Questline is now available for players. The hunt is on for the generals of the Raven Lord!
  • Loot Chests have been replaced with Seasonal Loot chests for the duration of this event.

Ranked Play

  • 2018 Ranked Season 4 Has Begun!
    • Ranked rewards have been granted to players based on their performance during 2018 Ranked Season 3.
    • Learn more about the rewards that are up for grabs during the new season by checking out our 2018 Ranked Season 4 Dates and Rewards blog.
  • Team League
    • Team League now supports all party sizes, including solo players.
      • All solo players will need to choose which League to play for the first time after the patch.
Developer Comment: Heroes of the Storm is primarily a team-based experience and, with this change, we’re hoping to make it easier to have that experience without putting restrictions on party size. In our current system, competitive solo players do not have many opportunities to find groups of players to play with in a ranked queue. To give these players more options for their competitive experience, we have removed all party size queue restrictions from Team League. Our hope is that this leads to a more robust Team League experience and that solo players find more regular groups to play with.

Unranked Battleground Rotation

  • The Battleground Rotation for all Unranked modes has been adjusted to the following:

Garden of Terror

Developer Comment: Kerrigan is receiving an update to increase the tactical depth of using her abilities and increase the impact that her Talents have on her playstyle. We've reduced the range on RavageRavage but added a second charge so that smart Kerrigan players can use it to maneuver on the battlefield, as well as utilize a lot of her Talents to get the most out of the ability. We've added a secondary explosion to Primal GraspPrimal Grasp so that Kerrigan will want to continue to worry about her positioning after her initial engagement occurs, as well as provide the opportunity for new Talent interactions. We've also added a skillshot component to Ultralisk so that the Heroic can feel like it has a big moment when it is first unleashed. Overall, Kerrigan should play mostly the same, but have increased room for mastery and playstyle specific builds.

Developer Comment: Late last year we decided that we wanted to add a fun mini-game to Brightwing utilizing her Arcane FlareArcane Flare as the focal point. As it often happens, while making the initial changes we started diving in deeper and deeper. Nearly a year later, we are excited to showcase a fully updated talent tree alongside some fundamental game-play changes to our resident Arcane FlareArcane Flare. With a baseline AoE cleanse-type effect and added healing potential to her Arcane Flare, Brightwing should bring some new major play-making abilities to her team.

General

  • Fixed several confusing or incorrect tooltips across all parts of the game.
  • Drag Scroll: Fixed an issue that could occasionally cause the camera to jump in the direction of the cursor when using the drag scroll feature.
  • Reconnect: Fixed an issue that could cause players to lose control of their Hero if they reconnect while piloting a vehicle.
  • AI: A number of improvements have been made to AI Hero behavior.

  • Chromie: Fixed an issue that caused Chromie’s hourglass to go missing during her Hearthstone animation.

  • Abathur: Fixed an issue preventing Monstrosity from gaining damage when nearby enemy minions die.

  • Fixed an issue that could cause Heroes to fail to play stun animations and effects if stunned twice in quick succession.
  • Lúcio: Fixed an issue causing the UI displaying the number of allies in range of crossfade to stop working after Lúcio exits a vehicle.

Hitting an 'enemy' with the center grants you 5 stacks? That's gotta be that they meant to put 'hitting an enemy HERO with the center'. Not just any enemy. Cause that would be SUPER broken if it was just any enemy. First wave of minions and you would already have like 20-40 stacks.

Awesome!

So I guess you either get to play in all solo queue HL or any number queue TL now. Not both. Interesting. Well since you can get the free mount at any rank in TL rather then only Plat and up in HL, it's all TL for me 😄

Update: So now that I'm actually in-game,it's not one or the either. It's just that you can do either one and you select which one when you're under ranked mode in the menus by clicking on the big block of either on screen 🙂 cool.

Soooooo.... I thought for sure it would have been just a PTR bug, but apparently it's carried over to Live servers too.

The stats screen during matches shows healing/shielding for everyone correctly then at the end of the match once you destroy the core it resets everyone to 0 before it's all done. So the event quest for Whitemane for healing doesn't work

This bug is one thing, but what about the bug that makes HotS take up 225% of your screen size whenever you try to use a second monitor, like you know, for streaming?

 

Edit: Or the bug that makes you unable to click on vital buttons like "Ready".

Edit: Wait, it might have been my graphics driver updater *which I downloaded yesterday) which causes this problem. I'm pretty sure that is the case actually, considering I guess this would be all over Reddit if it was game-related.

Another edit: Yes, it was my graphics driver update. Another 'small indie company' who appearantly failed hilariously. 😛

Has anyone else noticed that ability buttons on the bottom appear zoomed-in since the patch? This may be a matter of graphics settings, but all of the icons appear expanded, which looks odd. Some abilities you don't really notice, but some, like Verdant SpheresVerdant Spheres and Horadric CubeHoradric Cube, now overlap the hexagonal border. Seems like a minor thing, and it took me a couple games to notice, but now I've got a bad case of "can't unsee".

      Design-wise, Deathwing is probably the craziest Hero added to the game since the introduction of Cho'gall, and in this post, we're going through the main highlights of the reveal stream.
      Deathwing Reveal Highlights
      Deathwing is going to be in his dragon form the whole game and has no human form. He's even bigger than Alexstrasza. All of his abilities have delays. Although he has a lot of Health, Deathwing is classified as a Bruiser. The Hero will be playable at BlizzCon and go live in December. His trait is called The Aspect of Death and comes with four perks. Deathwing deals 100% bonus damage to enemy Heroes (similar to Alarak). He is permanently Unstoppable. Deathwing is completely unaffected by Allied abilities. You can't do anything to interact with him (no healing, Abathur hatting, NOTHING). He's going to play his own game. He has adamantium plates and starts the game with 40 Armor. Every 25% Health he will lose a plate which takes away 10 Armor. It's the direct opposite of Garrosh who gets tankier as he's close to dying. Deathwing has a custom mount. He leaves the map completely and restores Health over time, which is his primary way of getting back health that he lost while he was on the ground. This is also the only way for him to regain armor plates, as picking up globes will not restore his armor plates. After you land, your abilities will have a short cooldown. He can land anywhere on the map that he has vision and when he lands pick one of two different forms: The Destroyer form / The Worldbreaker form which change his base kit. He can swap between his forms by activating his trait (Thanks @Valhalen The Destroyer form focuses on melee while the Worldbreaker form revolves around ranged attacks. Destroyer Form Abilities
      [Q] Molten Flame is the highest damage-dealing ability in the game. Deathwing shoots a giant flame breath in front of him as you'd expect from a dragon.

      [W] Incinierate is a close-range (circle AoE) ability. After a short delay, he releases a pulse of flame with a flap of his wings.

      [E] Onslaught allows Deathwing to lunge forward a small distance. Any Heroes hit will be Slowed and at the end of the charge, he's going to bite the enemy for extra damage.

      Worldbreaker Form Abilities
      This is the Deathwing from the Cataclysm cinematic.
      [Q] Molten Flame is the same as in his other form and makes him shoot a giant flame breath.

      [W] Lava Burst: Deathwing makes slaps his paw into the ground which creates a small circular lava pool in an area around him. It has a significant Slow attached which allows him to set up his [Q] Flame Breath.

      [E] Earthshatter: Deathwing rears up and slams his paws into the ground and these little V-shaped skillshots go out that Stun all enemies hit as the ground rumbles. 

      Heroic Ability
      Deathwing just has one Heroic ability, but it's available from the start of the game.
      [R] Cataclysm: Deathwing flies in the sky, flies over the whole area burning everyone underneath his wings, scorching the ground for several seconds. He lands at the end of the path. It's a flying Lava Wave. The Level 10 upgrade makes it deal more damage and Cataclysm's cooldown is reset when an Enemy Fort/Keep is destroyed.

      Talents
      At Level 10, he can alternatively pick an ability called [1] Bellowing Roar which Fears everyone around him.
      At Level 20, he gets another [R] Cataclysm upgrade which further reduces its cooldown. His other talent is called Rival of a God which allows him to Stun when he lands from the sky. It also gives him access to all Level 7 talents which affect his mount ability, like meteors while landing.

      Deathwing has been accidentally leaked as the next Hero to join the Nexus. The reveal starts at 10:30 AM PDT on Twitch. Hero Designer Kyle Dates and Live Game Designer Adam Jackson will sit down with Trikslyr and Jhow to show off the first gameplay of the Worldbreaker.

      The introduction of Deathwing, especially now with BlizzCon around the corner, makes you wonder what they have in store for Heroes of the Storm at the event.

      Braxis Outpost is available as this week's brawl and comes with standard ARAM rules which include disabled Hearthstones and no healing at spawn. Complete 3 matches to earn a Scarlet Heist Chest.

      This week’s Heroes Brawl is Braxis Outpost! A single-lane battleground set in the Koprulu Sector, it will be up to your team to survive in the lane and take down the enemy core, without the aid of Hearthstone or their Hall of Storms. Good luck, have fun!
      Rules:
      Shuffle Pick Choose from one of three randomly selected Heroes before entering the battle on Braxis Outpost. Be quick about it though, you only have 30 seconds to choose! ARAM Rules Players cannot use Hearthstone Players do not heal at their starting location. (Hall of Storms) Cores have no shields Mercenary Camps Braxis Outpost features two mirrored Goliath & Raven mercenary camps. Be the first team to take down the enemy Core to claim victory! Rewards:
      Complete three matches of Braxis Outpost to earn a Loot Chest!
