Heroes of the Storm PTR Patch Notes: November 5th

Orphea is available for playtesting until next week, check out the latest patch notes for more details.

Orphea is the first Nexus-born Hero introduced at this year's BlizzCon. We recently looked at her full abilities and talents, Oxy also shared his hands-on experience with the Hero earlier today.

The latest content patch will be available for playtesting until November 12. It includes Orphea, visual updates to Dragon Shire, Call of the Nexus, and Boosts. Many BlizzCon 2018 items will be added to the game in the coming weeks and you can find a list of 2019 gameplay updates here.

Orphea will be available to all BlizzCon attendees and Virtual Ticket holders for FREE when she goes live!

Our next Heroes of the Storm patch has just hit the Public Test Realm and will be available for playtesting until November 12. As always, if you encounter any bugs during your PTR play sessions, please stop by the PTR Bug Report forum to let us know about your experiences.

General

  • Call of the Nexus
    • Players who queue for Quickmatch games using roles that are in short supply will receive 50% bonus experience for being team players. Just look for the “Call of the Nexus” Bonus Experience indicator located above each Hero when viewing the Hero Selection screen.
      • NOTE: Call of the Nexus will not be active immediately active, but will be enabled a short time after this patch hits the live servers.
  • Boost
    • What was once called a Stimpack is now a Boost, and in addition to buffing your own experience and Gold gains at the end of a match, all players will receive 5% bump in experience for each player in their match who had an active Boost. That mean players can receive up to a 45% XP bonus if all 10 players in game have a Boost active!
    • In addition to stacking Boost XP buffs, you’ll now be able to retroactively Boost your Gold and XP gains at the end of a match by applying a Boost from the Score Screen.

Design

  • Channeled Healing Abilities
    • Alextrasza’s Life-BinderLife-Binder (R) and Rehgar’s Ancestral HealingAncestral Healing (R) abilities are no longer cancelled under any conditions other than enemy abilities that remove the target from play (Devouring MawDevouring Maw, GorgeGorge, CocoonCocoon.)
  • Spell Power Modifiers
    • The following abilities and talents have been updated to have any percentage-based spell power modifiers stack additively when calculating damage: (This is the default behavior for all other abilities and talents unless otherwise stated in the tooltip)
      • Zul’jin’s BuzzsawBuzzsaw (R) talent
      • Hanzo’s DragonstrikeDragonstrike (R) center damage effect
      • Gul’dan’s Rampant HellfireRampant Hellfire (Q) talent
    • The following abilities have had their tooltips updated to reflect that percentage-based spell power modifiers will stack multiplicatively when calculating damage:
      • Kael’thas’ PhoenixPhoenix (R) ability
      • Nazeebo’s Vile InfectionVile Infection (Passive) talent
      • Li Li’s Lightning SerpentLightning Serpent (W) talent
      • Li-Ming’s Arcane OrbitArcane Orbit (W) talent

Battlegrounds

  • Dragon Shire:
    • Dragon Shire has received updated Battleground art (including an updated Dragon Knight)

New Hero: Orphea (Assassin)

Rejecting the dark power her father had begun to consort with, Orphea tried to run away from the Raven Lord's influence. But after witnessing King's Crest fall to his machinations, she was convinced she needed to stand and fight. She now vows to protect the innocent – as a Hero of the Nexus.

Trait

  • Overflowing Chaos (Trait)
    • Hitting an enemy Hero with a Basic Ability grants 1 Chaos. Chaos can stack up to 3 times.
    • While Orphea has Chaos, her Basic Attacks against Heroes consumes all Chaos, dealing 50% increased damage per stack, and healing for 100% of the damage dealt.

Basic Abilities

  • Shadow Waltz (Q)
    • After 0.5 seconds, deal 384 damage to enemies in a line.
    • Hitting a Hero with Shadow Waltz sets its cooldown to 2 seconds and causes Orphea to dash a short distance upon moving.
  • Chomp (W)
    • After 0.6 seconds, deal 823 damage to nearby enemies in front of Orphea.
  • Dread (E)
    • Release a wave of dread that deals 245 damage to enemies hit.
    • Dread erupts 0.75 seconds after reaching the end of its path, dealing 505 damage and Slowing enemies in the area by 25% for 2 seconds.

Heroic Abilities

  • Eternal Feast (R)
    • After 1.5 seconds, deal 606 damage in an area.
    • Eternal Feast repeats every 1 second as long as it hits an enemy Hero.
  • Crushing Jaws (R)
    • After 1.25 seconds, pulls enemies in an area towards the center, dealing 826 damage and Stunning them for 0.75 seconds.

User Interface

  • Additional space for Heroes has been added to the Hero select screen.
  • Battlegrounds with mechanics that add additional (default hotkey: F) buttons (Warhead Junction, Snow Brawl, etc.) have had the appearances of their panels unified.
  • A new “Bundles” page has been added to the Collection tab.

  • Fixed an issue that caused some Shielding and Healing values to track improperly on the score/stats screen.
  • Fixed an issue allowing some summoned units to grant vision of Heroes inside brush if placed at the edge of the brush.

Art

  • Fixed an issue causing some spell effects associated with taunt animations to appear after the animation was canceled.
  • Whitemane: Fixed an issue causing Witch Whitemane’s custom mount animation to cease playing after she died once in a match.

User Interface

  • Fixed a number of tooltip issues and inaccuracies across the game.

Heroes, Abilities, and Talents

  • Kerrigan: Fixed an issue that disabled Health and Mana regeneration during ChrysalisChrysalis.
  • Stukov: Fixed an issue preventing Lurking ArmLurking Arm from revealing damaged targets if they were at the edge of its area of effect.
  • Tyrande: Fixed an issue preventing Elune's ChosenElune's Chosen from healing allies if damage was dealt to Shielded/Protected targets.

Wow, this is nice. Specially since I just started playing Alex on ranked.

For Orphea base damage seems a bit high I can see a nerf within the first two weeks but she seems fun

I don’t know where Icy Veins got their numbers for that, but the actual patch notes list those numbers as being like 3 times smaller.

Nothing really changed but the name and look, they will work the same way for you AND give 5% more exp to every other player on your games.

So does that mean I'll still get 50% exp boost + the additional boosts from 9 others, making the exp boost a possible 95%?

The exp bonus are, cumulative:

  • +25% if you play with a friend
  • Up to +50% with 4 party members
  • +25% on Hero League OR +50% on Team League
  • +100% with a Stimpack/Boost
  • Up to +45% if all 9 players on your game have Boosts (the new feature).

It means it will be possible to get +270% exp, if you get all bonuses.

Also, stimpacks/boosts give +150% gold per game, but it's not that relevant since Daily Quests are a much better source of gold.

Yes they are. On PTR, you can buy 7/30/365 Day boosts. Receiving additional Boosts will extend your current Boost duration.

They are and the only give a 5% boost. The only advantage is that you'll get boost bonuses from people in your games as well as your own. Considering the fact you have to buy boosts, it's not a great system tbh.

Yeah, I would also prefer it to be match-based instead of time-based, but this change is at least a small step towards improvement. Best case scenario you get +45% exp (even if you don't own a Boost yourself), worst case you won't loser anything.

Maybe you mean that they were originally wrong? Because the only thing I see wrong is what's listed here, not the actual patch notes.

      All Quests that can lose stacks will never cause the player to fall below milestone thresholds. Pinnacle Rewards are now named Mythic Rewards to give a more Blizzard feel. So Mythic-y! The following Summoned Units now lose health each second: Demon Lieutenants, Demon Warriors, Gargantuan, Hydralisks, Roaches, Rock-It Turrets, Rush Zombies, Scarabs, Treants, Tumors, and Water Elementals.       Players will now receive an announcement when a quest milestone is reached. This will only announce to the player who achieved the milestone. Ranges of abilities on numerous Heroes have been updated to be more consistent. This may cause certain abilities ranges to reduce or increase.       Map Updates
      General A new Fallback Tower has been added to the longer lanes on each of the following battleground maps. This new tower will die when its corresponding Fort dies: Alterac Pass, Battlefield of Eternity, Blackheart's Bay, Braxis Holdout, Cursed Hollow, Dragon Shire, Garden of Terror, Hanamura Temple, Infernal Shrines, Sky Temple, Tomb of the Spider Queen, Volskaya Foundry, and Warhead Junction. Attacks from the Core, Keeps, Forts, Fallback Towers, and Towers near Keeps will now reduce Hero armor, and the reduction has been increased from -10/-20 Armor to -20/-40 Armor. Fallback Towers have the same HP and Attack Damage as Keep Towers. Forts, Keeps, and the Core will no longer grant Allied Heroes that take damage in their radius 35 Armor for 4 seconds. The comeback system has been slightly magnified, particularly at wide level gaps. Alterac Pass Objective capture timer reduced by 5 seconds in each phase. The first phase only spawns a single defending unit. Cavalry now gain more health in the later stages of the game. Cavalry now take 60% damage from structures (up from 50%). Braxis Holdout Early objectives have lowered in health by 15%, but scaling has been increased significantly after 15 minutes. Garden of Terror Garden Terror health scaling increased. Garden Terror structure disabling plant bulb now damages itself at 10% per second (up from 6%). Infernal Shrines Early objectives have lowered in health by 15%, but scaling has been increased significantly after 15 minutes. Warhead Junction Nuke damage has been changed to flat, scaling damage. Scaling is updated when a Warhead is picked up. Nukes now deal double damage versus Forts, Keeps, and the Core. Return to Top

      Level 1 Dishonorable Discharge REWORK: No longer reduces CD. Bonuses are now provided at 20/45/75 hits. At 20 hits, gain 30% damage. At 45 hits, gain an additional 75% damage and reduce the cooldown by 2 seconds. Pinnacle Reward: At 75 hits, Lightning Rod provides 2 additional strikes and Stuns for 1.25s on its last strike. Frequent Flyer REWORK: Reduced attack speed bonus from 40% to 25%. Now provides 1 stack per minion and 5 stacks per Hero. At 50 stacks, gain 20 Attack Damage. At 125 stacks, gain an additional 50 Attack Damage. Pinnacle Reward: At 300 stacks, gain an additional 125 Attack Damage. Gathering Storm REWORK: Bonuses are now provided at 30/80/150 stacks, rather than incremental gains. At 30 stacks, gain 30% damage. At 80 stacks, gain an additional 50% damage. Pinnacle Reward: At 150 stacks, gain an additional 70% damage. REWORK: Lose 8 stacks on death, but can not lose milestones that have already been completed. Stukov Level 1 Reactive Ballistospores Fixed Reactive Ballistospores tooltip. Tychus Base Overkill [Q] Overkill retarget can now also be targeted in a direction. When clicking near or on a target, it will attach to that target, but if no targets are nearby, Overkill will start firing in that direction. If Overkill hits a target while firing in a direction, that target will become Overkill's primary target. If Overkill is active when there are no possible targets, Overkill will no longer be cancelled, and instead will start firing in the direction of the last primary target. Fixed an issue that caused mounting to not interrupt Overkill. Valla Base Hatred [D] Fixed Hatred Tooltip. Level 20 Storm of Vengeance Fixed an issue that caused Storm of Vengeance to not grant 2% Attack Speed per Hatred stack. Zagara Level 1 Infest Fixed Infest active current bonus tooltip.
