Togwaggle Returns in "The King" Expansion Teaser

Recommended Posts

dZOM0O1.png

It seems that even though the Kobolds & Catacombs expansion is rotating out of Standard this year, we are not quite done with the central figure in it, King Togwaggle, as he appears in a teaser for the upcoming expansion (?).

The teaser video was accidentally leaked a few hours earlier on Instagram by Hearthstone Latin America.

As we guessed on the latest Icy Veins podcast, the Fortune Teller seems to be actually assembling a team of bad guys and the first one she calls is King Togwaggle. We also get a small hint about the next villain to be called: a card depicting a Tauren totem with skulls, and a reference that the character is female. This clearly has to be Magatha Grimtotem. Her name playfully resembles another Hearthstone villain, Hagatha the Witch, and both of these wonderful ladies are Shamans.

A popular theory, that has been going around ever since the Year of the Dragon was first announced, is that the first 2019 expansion will offer a retrospect in previous Hearthstone expansions and it will feature villains, not heroes. Perhaps we'll get to see a villain from each of the sets that are no longer in Standard. One important point to add is that we should not be forgetting the Dalaran/Kirin Tor theory. Dalaran is not just the city of Mages after all, but it's also home to the Violet Hold prison...

One last thing to contribute is that some people think that these are teasers for the solo-player content and not the actual expansion, but it's hard to see an Adventure that is not at least somewhat related to the expansion it has been released with. What do you think?

It didn't say it's a kobold expansion. From what it's saying, it sounds more like it's a "villains expansion" as in multiple. not just Togwaggle, he's just the only one that was shown. I mean, They are drawing possibility of Magatha Grimtotem in this very article.

We don't know at all what the expansion will be as a whole, but it's clearly going to be more than just a kobold expansion. We could see big named demons, more lich king stuff, Old gods, evil orcs... all rolled into one expansion.

Maybe read the article between reading the title and commenting about how bad the expansion will be.

I also love to see game developers blow all their wad in one single go - It's just the best when you know a game will be around for at LEAST 5-6 more years and then you'd like for them to just add all the good stuff in like 1 of those years so that what we get for the remaining 5 are all lackluster *filtered* or even more re-hashed things. Like I'd love to see Hogger re-implemented a THIRD time.

That sounds terribly short-sighted. Did you also complain we're getting another WotOG after the first teaser? Not to mention you're basing this conclusion on 20-30 seconds of teasing in which Togwaggle shows up, while completely ignoring the 2nd and 3rd villain to be named (and basically every other piece of information so far).

I'd recommend waiting for the rest of the teasers and information before drawing any more (negative) conclusions.

Hunter's latest addition in Saviors of Uldum has been shared by Russian Youtuber Yaspers Game.

A new card has been revealed by the Russian Youtuber Yaspers Game: Hunter's Pack!

It's a 3-Mana spell that generates three Hunter class cards, which seems like a pretty good rate. It's a good fit in Zul'jin decks, although often Zul'jin will fill your hand anyway thanks to Master's Call and other card draw and generation spells.
It seems like a peculiar card to print considering that "card generation" was recently identified as one of the Hunter class's intended limitations in a Developer Insights blog post. Perhaps it's intended to support Hunter's identity in Saviors of Uldum by being a strong addition to singleton decks built around Dinotamer Brann?

EVIL Recruiter, Riftcleaver and Desert Obelisk are the latest cards to be revealed from Saviors of Uldum.

German Youtuber Thanh has just posted his card reveal for Saviors of Uldum: EVIL Recruiter! Two other cards were also revealed last night, one on the Japanese website Gamewatch and one on Reddit.

EVIL Recruiter is Thanh's reveal - it's the Lackey synergy card for Warlock that was hinted at back when Weaponized Wasp was released. It's a lot of stats for not a lot of Mana, so it seems like a shoe-in for Zoolock. Check out the full German reveal video below:
Riftcleaver is another addition to Warlock, revealed by Gamewatch. It's a hard removal option which calls to mind Vilespine Slayer, Omega Devastator and the Death Knight token spell Obliterate. All of those cards were and are extremely strong, so it's in good company. Its power comes at a hefty price though, especially if you're using it to destroy massive Minions like Mountain Giant.
Desert Obelisk is the last card we have to share with you this morning. It asks you to complete the small puzzle of getting three copies onto the board if you want to make use of it. Achieve this, and it will start eating away at your opponent's board and Health total fairly rapidly. It seems a little steeply costed at 5 Mana, but it's a fun deck-building challenge.
The honour of revealing Desert Obelisk went to /u/Scarlas, who was the first to solve a treasure trail left by /u/SecretsOfUldum. Here's how he did it:

Chinese streamer YiLingShu has revealed a new Rogue card from Saviors of Uldum on the streaming platform Douyu.

Chinese streamer YiLingShu has revealed a new Rogue card from Saviors of Uldum on the streaming platform Douyu: Bazaar Mugger.

It's a fine addition to Rogue's kit of Burgle-themed cards. The "from another class" text is in keeping with the new design philosophy for the mechanic which enables cards like Vendetta to be active in Rogue mirror matches. Older cards such as Blink Fox and Burgle itself tend to say "from your opponent's class". Pilfer, a Classic set card, was changed in Patch 9.14 to reflect the commitment to the new direction.

Hunter's latest additions are two massive creepy-crawlies with powerful effects.

Two new Saviors of Uldum cards have been revealed via the PlayHearthstone Instagram story. This time, it's a pair of massive creepy-crawlies for Hunter: Wild Bloodstinger and Scarlet Webweaver.

Wild Bloodstinger is slightly over-statted as a 6 Mana 6/9, but it will have to do battle with a Minion from your opponent's hand before you get to use those stats. This kind of effect has been seen occasionally before in Hearthstone: Dirty Rat was a much-loved (and much-hated) combo disruption card that denied many a Raza the Chained before they rotated to Wild together. Unseen Saboteur is a similar option in the current Standard card pool, but can be wildly inconsistent.
Scarlet Webweaver is pretty much a Dreampetal Florist for Beasts. You could play King Krush for 4 Mana and do some big damage. You could also play Tundra Rhino for 0 Mana and do some big damage. The possibilities are endless.
Taken together, these cards suggest Hunter might be playing with some bigger beasts than usual in Saviors of Uldum. This could be a nice change of pace after six months of messing around with Springpaw and various other 1/1s.

A new Druid Spell has been revealed on Firebat's Youtube channel - and it looks to have a lot of untapped potential.

Firebat has shared his exclusive Saviors of Uldum card reveal on Youtube: Hidden Oasis!

The card has huge synergy with the new Druid quest, Untapped Potential, and makes it look potentially very strong - the card can be played on turn 6 with both of its Choose One effects combined every time if you're willing to be patient.

That's all of today's scheduled card reveals - the next one is slated for Sunday at 6.00 AM BST, although it's always possible that we get some surprise reveals in the interim. See you then!
