Dragonflight Mythic+ Season 2 DPS, Tank and Healer Log Rankings: Week 0.5

Recommended Posts

Clipboard02.jpg

Here we are in Mythic+ Season 2 at last and, unlike the raid, we did not have anything to check out during its first week, so we'll be comparing directly to the Season 1 rankings, before all the original 10.1 tuning came in, not to mention the additional S2 stuff.

Note: The logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.

This week still is:

95th percentile DPS

The more things change, the more they stay the same - and there's nothing more "same" than Subtlety sitting at the top of Mythic+! We may have (sort of) gotten rid of Fire's near-permanent stay at the top in recent months, but the Rogue spec is just not going anywhere. And while Fire may be a little further down, Arcane is absolutely the spec of the hour, both here and in raids, as it gets that cozy 2nd spot all warmed up for itself - after rising all the way up from the very bottom since last season. Balance rose a little as well, 3 spots into 3rd, mirrored by Shadow's 3-spot fall, while Destruction stayed pretty much in the same place. Then comes Fire which is just waiting for its chance, as the all-time Mythic+ king will reign again. Havoc is down while Outlaw and Fury are up, and Enhancement closes out the top 2 only a few spots lower than before. Affliction and Frost DK remain at the bottom, now joined by Beast Mastery, who is not having a fun time this season so far.

All Percentiles

Things are a little different in the generalist bracket, but very similar to where we ended in Season 1. Destruction is the main change here compared to the high percentiles, staying put in 2nd, and Balance is making the same moves as in the higher bracket, 3 up here as well, while Outlaw remains in it's pre-S2 4th spot. That's when Arcane comes in, also out of the bottom 3 into the top, just ahead of Havoc which lost 3 spots. Marksmanship is representing Hunters in 9th as Fury closes out the top 10.

Tanks

The tanks actually had quite a bit of an upheaval as Brewmaster moved 2 up into 1st (and 2 is a LOT here), pushing both Paladin and DK down. Guardian and Prot also changed spots, as the Warrior is now down in the dumps.

Healers

Healers remain very stable with the top 2 remaining solid, but Discipline and Holy Pala move one up after that, leaving Resto Druid 2 down in 5th.

As an Arcane Mage I checked my own ranking after reading this post and it turns out I'm rank 20 out of 5 470, which puts me in the top 0.36% of Arcane Mages in terms of m+ score. Meanwhile there's 20 742 Frost Mages and 12 334 Fire Mages.

Arcane is seen as the "harder" spec because you have a lot of small and frequent decisions to make which can make it less enjoyable to play, but it is currently the dominant spec in the raid.

I think this means mostly the more "advanced" and progress oriented players are playing Arcane, thus perhaps the higher end of Arcane Mages are playing more m+ for gear and pushing up their score.

Contrary to this though, if we look at how many of each spec are over 2000 score currently, only 5 Arcane Mages have done so, with no one breaking 2100. Frost on the other hand has 21 players above 2000 rating and 1 player over 2100. For Fire there are 2 players close to 2100 and 14 over 2000 rating. I think this paints a different picture than what the posts suggests.

Because there's so many fewer Arcane Mages, the top 5% consists only of 274 players while the top 5% of Frost Mages consists of 1 037 players, dragging down the average for Frost as a whole since most people can't sit and play all day and do every key. Arcane is definitely better than before, but I expect to see it decline in the rankings over the next few weeks.

The new War Within Allied Races was added to the Alpha today and we already have a full look at not only all their customization options, but their dances as well, courtesy of MrGM! You can check out the Earthen's racial abilities here if you missed them earlier.
Let's start with the more dynamic feature, with both male and female dances:
And then there's big amount of customization options, as well as a size comparison with regular dwarves:

So, are we liking the new Allied Race overall? More than actual dwarves?

Here's a really cool possibility for the War Within, as a very subtle and mildly mysterious comment from Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, may be hinting at our Warband characters getting a lot more involved in our travels!
First spotted by UlthansWrath, Longdale came up to Taliesin & Evitel at the recent London War Within Alpha press event and had a short chat about the Warband screen, when she casually said "wouldn't it be cool if those were the characters you took as your followers in your Follower Dungeons?" After the obvious confirmation from Taliesin and Evitel that, yes, yes it would be cool, she just said "hm" and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but considering this is a really awesome idea, it seems likely Blizzard are at the very least discussing it, if not already working on it.

The Warband system is already great, and this would add a lot to it for players that choose to go solo into dungeons, as it would give them even more motivation to get some great characters in their Warband - even if it was just a cosmetic option.
So, what do you think, will we be seeing this feature when the War Within launches?
