Weak Auras - Ask here for help! Read first post: Discord channel

Is it possible to make a WA for Wrath of Gul'dan that only affects ranged and basically says "Left, Middle, Right"? I thought about changing the one from Blackhand, but since melee's also get affected by Wrath i wasent sure if it would work.

I tired making this a while back, and every time I make some kind of 'positional' aura or 'marked' aura it doesn't like to work properly.  I don't know if its just my personal skill or its just difficult to do.

Basically the problem I run into is that the code 'runs too fast' before every event of the debuff, so it either skips some, or counts too much.  To remedy this, I need to 'delay' the code by about less than 1 second and then find everyone who got a debuff then assign it, but the 'delay' code is what is problematic for me.

Hello Krazyito (and also Pandacho who this principally concerns).

I was looking for some advice from either of you, as I had imported a raid cd active buff durations weakaura of yours Pandacho. It works great aside for when it comes to avenging wrath, which shows when retribution paladins also use their wings. If possible I like to disable ret paladins from triggering the aura.

Pastebin to Avenging Wrath Icon: http://pastebin.com/FDuxpF3R

Pastebin to modified WA import: http://pastebin.com/M1jkG6tw

Thanks for any assistance you can give tongue.png.

Cheers,

Bic

PS: Is there any resources you suggest reading for becoming more familiar with learning how to write more advanced WA's? Specifically learning the syntax for the coding?

Use spell ID: 31842 which is specific to the Avenging Wrath used by Holy Paladins.

also, looking at the Avenging wrath aura... Where are you initializing variable 'name' in "name = sourceName" ?  You want to be VERY careful with any global variables and how you name them becasue any addon/weak aura in the game might use that same variable name if its global and cross wires.

As for a resource, no not really, Most of what I know I learned from asking questions on the Vox Immortalis thread and looking at what other people have done.  I'm contemplating making a small guide for how weak auras works and some small tidbits when coding into it (assuming people already know how to code becasue I won't go into that).  I still barely know how to use lua and still have to look up how to do specific things.

Is it possible to create a WA that is in a stacking group, where it displays my debuffs that are about to drop off of targets, and can give you the name of that target.

As an example (since you're a Druid), could you have a Weak Aura that pops up when Moonfire/Sunfire has less than 5 seconds on a target and names that target so that you would get something like:

{Moonfire Icon with timer - 4.5} Blademaster Jubei'thos

{Moonfire Icon with timer - 3.5} Dia Darkwhisper

{Sunfire Icon with timer - 2.0} Gurtogg Bloodboil

{Moonfire Icon with timer - 1.2} Gurtogg Bloodboil

I can get the individual spells and such (I play a 'lock, not boomkin), just not sure how to do the main "debuffs on any target about to drop off" part. Thanks in advance!

I'm not at a computer atm but try using the multi target option, should be what you want.

Alternatively, I'd rather use an addon that is specialized in that kind of thing such as ellipsis (I think thats what it's called)

I tried this using the multi-target unit, and it was giving me funky results.  Ie. the remaining time wasn't always correct, and getting it to display the target's name wasn't working (granted, nor was I using any custom code which *might* alleviate this).  I scrapped it about as fast as I decided to make it, as it just wasn't looking good to me, and it was far easier to track DoTs using the boss/unit frames and/or nameplates within ElvUI (you should be able to substitute whichever addon you use for these).

Seems to work ok for me.  I didn't do anything fancy.

The only time it wouldn't show the time is if I applied sunfire on something I wasn't targeting, so targeting it would fix it right up.  Did you make sure your aura was in a Dynamic Group?

I'd still say Ellipsis is probably the way to go though, probably more customization features if you're into that.

This is the mainly what I ran into, though it would also bug out the Icon and show the ? (which I was using an Icon and not progress bars) and not show the remaining duration and stacks (on Agony, as I tested this with my lock).

Looking for a WA that worked a bit like scrolling combat text, but with just icons showing what I just casted. Had one before I cleaned up my WAs earlier and managed to delete it accidentally.

I have just discovered WA2 and have been playing with it since last nite.  I have a real mess inside it of all the stuff I have tried plus the importing stuff.  Dumb Q.....how do I reset it back to the way it was b4?  I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and the "mess" is still there.   thanks for your help

You're going to have to explain more what you mean by a 'mess' or provide a screenshot.

As well, I don't understand what you mean by 'reset it back to the way it was before' you mean just get rid of all your auras? You can delete them from the menu.

I would be so very grateful if someone would create a weakaura that let me 'see' in a simple targeting hud..where in the '"%$(&!" my kitty paws are in relation to my target.  Range and directon with respect to target as in facing or not.  The information is there somewhere in Blizzard because it tells you that you are not facing the target, and it tells you you are not in range, but that doesn't help me in the middle of a messy fight with trash and secondary bosses.  I have an extremely hard time seeing what I'm doing. It would also give me an extra reminder that I'd forgotten to aquire my target in the first place.  Yes I know, I'm an idiot.  But this is my first six months with WoW and my Feral Druid is only level 90.  I'm using pawketts auras if it helps to know that.

I've made a WA that tracks agony on the boss frames but I can't get it to work properly on anything other than boss1 and I don't understand why.

It's supposed to trigger when agony is at 6 seconds or less and look like this: http://imgur.com/SOBtvxX

(Agony starts at 1 stack and goes to 10 during it's duration. Every stack increasing it's damage. If you refresh it before it drops it continues at 10 stacks. Hence the importance of not letting it fade.)

Any ideas?

EDIT: Scratch that! Fixed it myself. I had it set to "boss1" but "Boss2", "Boss3" etc. Can't be capitalized cause then it doesn't work.

Looking for a WA that worked a bit like scrolling combat text, but with just icons showing what I just casted. Had one before I cleaned up my WAs earlier and managed to delete it accidentally.

http://pastebin.com/J13YmQC7

This should do it for you, but as Krazyito said the addon TufiGCD does this aswell, and easier to change settings on.

For you Krazyito. Is it possible to make a weak aura that chooses and returns a specific quest? More specific. The bonus roll quest.

Thanks, I'll test the WA out. Not a big fan of how TrufiGCD visualises stuff (+ it spams GotO orbs and other procs which I don't want to see, just what I personally cast).

What do you mean return a quest? Like check if it's completed for the week?

More than likely. I'm at work atm, so when I get home I'll take a look at it.

Relevant ID using apexis (I don't think it matters what you do because I think they all 'complete' once you get 3)

36055

37452

37453

IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(questID)

(mainly my reference for when I get home)

local quests = { --[[add all relevant id's?]]}

for i in ipairs(quests) do

if not isQuestFlaggedCompleted(i) then

return true.

end

end

Basically it.

No. I mean like accept and maybe return specific quest. Essentially like AutoTurnIn, but only for some quest. In this case the coins.

I'm working on it, but I cant seem to get something working to check when a quest dialog appears

Done. Had to play around with the events that were firing off based on quests. I did it once with my shaman. Should work for the rest.

You have to first pick a 'resource' to spend, then it will turn it in for you. I commented the code if you want to read how it works.

code for reference: --Edit simplified code just a bit, more efficient now, but such a small difference it probably doesn't matter.

Now that I was going to import the string, your link has expired. sad.png

Hello again smile.png

Looking for WA configuration for Mannoroth  like Fragnance have in this https://youtu.be/3ACk8B-ZMhw?t=240

Looking for fear(big green letter on the center), Imps lifetime.

Also on his stream I saw WA configuration for interrupt(who interrupt cast). Working like gorefiend grasp on this message https://www.icy-veins.com/forums/topic/9948-weak-auras-ask-here-for-help/page-13#entry118267

Anyone know where I can find it?(asking in stream chat - have no answer)

UPD: find video about interrupt. http://www.twitch.tv/fragnance/v/21883610

First time its on 28:53 and the second  - on 29:57. Dont know exactly how it works, but think its configure for certain people separately

Has anybody been able to set up a Weak Aura indicating the cooldown timer for Heroic Strike? I can make one for all other abilities, but for some reason the Heroic Strike cooldown does not seem to register with Weak Auras, instead it appears the info regarding the CD is not being passed from WOW to WA.

Here's another thread where being have expressed difficulty: http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1685245-Is-Weak-Auras-broken-for-Heroic-Strike

Thanks.
