Xingqiu Guide & Best Builds

Welcome to our Xingqiu build guide for Genshin Impact. Xingqiu is a 4-Star Hydro Sub DPS Character who deals damage off-field and consistently applies Hydro for use in elemental reactions. In our guide, we'll cover everything you need to know to get the most out of your Xingqiu, from building the best artifacts and weapons to important stat priorities and rotations.

Best Weapons for Xingqiu

Xingqiu can be built with a wide range of viable weapons. Listed below are Xingqiu's best weapons. Depending on your build and Energy Recharge breakpoints, consider using a weapon that provides Energy Recharge.

Primordial Jade Cutter R1

Protector's Virtue

Base ATK: 542

CRIT Rate: 44.1%

HP increased by 20% / 25% / 30% / 35% / 40%. Additionally, provides an ATK Bonus based on 1.2% / 1.5% / 1.8% / 2.1% / 2.4% of the wielder's Max HP.

Primordial Jade Cutter is Xingqiu's best-in-slot weapon for personal damage. It provides a massive amount of CRIT Rate and grants an ATK bonus based on his Max HP, which also synergizes slightly with his minor healing capabilities. However, because it lacks Energy Recharge, you will need to rely heavily on your artifacts to meet his high Energy requirements.
Sacrificial Sword R5

Composed

Base ATK: 454

Energy Recharge: 61.3%

After damaging an opponent with an Elemental Skill, the skill has a 40% / 50% / 60% / 70% / 80% chance to end its own CD. Can only occur once every 30s / 26s / 22s / 19s / 16s.

Sacrificial Sword is an incredibly popular option for Xingqiu. The weapon provides Energy Recharge and its passive has a high chance to reset his Elemental Skill cooldown. Because Xingqiu's Skill generates a large amount of Hydro particles, being able to cast it twice drastically lowers his Energy Recharge requirements.
Favonius Sword R5

Windfall

Base ATK: 454

Energy Recharge: 61.3%

CRIT Hits have a 60% / 70% / 80% / 90% / 100% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 Energy for the character. Can only occur once every 12s / 10.5s / 9s / 7.5s / 6s.

Favonius Sword is a great 4-Star option that provides a high amount of Energy Recharge. Its passive also generates neutral energy particles for the entire team on CRIT hits, making it excellent for teams with high energy demands. You will need a decent amount of CRIT Rate to trigger the passive consistently.
Sapwood Blade R5

Forest Sanctuary

Base ATK: 565

Energy Recharge: 30.6%

After triggering Burning, Quicken, Aggravate, Spread, Bloom, Lunar-Bloom, Hyperbloom, or Burgeon, a Leaf of Consciousness will be created around the character for a maximum of 10s. When picked up, the Leaf will grant the character 60 / 75 / 90 / 105 / 120 Elemental Mastery for 12s. Only 1 Leaf can be generated this way every 20s. This effect can still be triggered if the character is not on the field. The Leaf of Consciousness' effect cannot stack.

Sapwood Blade is a strong craftable option with a solid base ATK that helps Xingqiu's damage while also providing Energy Recharge. Its passive grants Elemental Mastery when you pick up the dropped leaf, which is especially useful in Hyperbloom teams where Elemental Mastery has much higher value.
Skyward Blade R1

Sky-Piercing Fang

Base ATK: 608

Energy Recharge: 55.1%

CRIT Rate increased by 4% / 5% / 6% / 7% / 8%. Gains Skypiercing Might upon using an Elemental Burst: Increases Movement SPD by 10%, increases ATK SPD by 10%, and Normal and Charged hits deal additional DMG equal to 20% / 25% / 30% / 35% / 40% of ATK. Skypiercing Might lasts for 12s.

Skyward Blade is a great 5-Star option for Xingqiu. It features a high base ATK and valuable Energy Recharge to help meet his requirements, while the passive further increases his personal damage.
Fleuve Cendre Ferryman R5

Ironbone

Base ATK: 510

Energy Recharge: 45.9%

Increases Elemental Skill CRIT Rate by 8% / 10% / 12% / 14% / 16%. Additionally, increases Energy Recharge by 16% / 20% / 24% / 28% / 32% for 5s after using an Elemental Skill.

Fleuve Cendre Ferryman is an amazing free-to-play weapon obtainable through fishing. It provides Energy Recharge as a substat and increases Elemental Skill CRIT Rate. Most importantly, it significantly boosts Energy Recharge after using an Elemental Skill, making it very easy for Xingqiu to get his Burst back on rotation.
Wolf-Fang R5

Northwind Wolf

Base ATK: 510

CRIT Rate: 27.6%

DMG dealt by Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst is increased by 16% / 20% / 24% / 28% / 32%. When an Elemental Skill hits an opponent, its CRIT Rate will be increased by 2% / 2.5% / 3% / 3.5% / 4%. When an Elemental Burst hits an opponent, its CRIT Rate will be increased by 2% / 2.5% / 3% / 3.5% / 4%. Both of these effects last 10s separately, have 4 max stacks, and can be triggered once every 0.1s.

Wolf-Fang is a solid 4-Star damage option from the Battle Pass. It provides CRIT Rate and increases Elemental Skill and Burst damage. Similar to Primordial Jade Cutter, it provides no Energy Recharge, meaning you must make up for it with your artifact substats.

Best Artifacts for Xingqiu

Emblem of Severed Fate

Emblem of Severed Fate

2-Piece Set: Energy Recharge +20%

4-Piece Set: Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 25% of Energy Recharge. A maximum of 75% bonus DMG can be obtained in this way.

Emblem of Severed Fate is Xingqiu's best-in-slot artifact set in almost every situation. Because Xingqiu requires a high amount of Energy Recharge to use his Burst consistently, he makes perfect use of the 4-piece set bonus, which converts that Energy Recharge into a massive DMG bonus for his Elemental Burst.
Noblesse Oblige

Noblesse Oblige

2-Piece Set: Elemental Burst DMG +20%

4-Piece Set: Using an Elemental Burst increases all party members' ATK by 20% for 12s. This effect cannot stack.

Noblesse Oblige is a nice secondary option and handy in some situations if no one else on the team is using the set. While it results in lower personal damage for Xingqiu compared to Emblem, the team-wide ATK % buff can be more beneficial depending on your main damage dealer.

Xingqiu's Stat Priority

Sands of Eon: Energy Recharge / ATK %
Goblet of Eonothem: Hydro DMG
Circlet of Logos: CRIT Rate / DMG
Substats: Energy Recharge (to breakpoint) > CRIT Rate / DMG > ATK %

Xingqiu requires enough Energy Recharge to comfortably cast his Burst every rotation. Once his Energy requirements are met, you should focus entirely on offensive stats like CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, and ATK % to maximize the damage of his Rain Swords.

Energy Recharge Breakpoints

Listed below is a brief table showing what Energy Recharge you want to aim for depending on your weapons and constellations. Exact Energy Recharge requirements vary based on your specific team composition, certain character skills, the weapons your team has, and if Xingqiu will be on-field to pick up the particles.

Weapon C0 - C5 C6
Favonius Sword 190 - 220% 150 - 180%
Sacrificial Sword 150 - 180% 130 - 150%
Fleuve Cendre Ferryman 200 - 230% 170 - 200%
Other Weapons 220 - 260% 180 - 220%

Recommended Stats for Xingqiu

Build recommendations assume a Sub DPS role for Xingqiu. Exact requirements can vary depending on your team, weapon choice, and artifact set.

ATK: 1400 - 1800+
CRIT Rate: 50 - 70%+
CRIT DMG: 100 - 140%+
Energy Recharge: 180 - 220% (depends on weapon and constellations)

Xingqiu's Talent Priority

Talent Priority: Guhua Sword: Raincutter > Guhua Sword: Fatal Rainscreen

Xingqiu's Elemental Burst, Guhua Sword: Raincutter, provides the vast majority of his off-field damage and Hydro application, making it your highest priority. His Elemental Skill, Guhua Sword: Fatal Rainscreen, also deals solid damage and should be leveled second. His Normal Attacks do not need to be leveled for an off-field build.

How to Play Xingqiu

Xingqiu's gameplay revolves around utilizing his Elemental Skill, Guhua Sword: Fatal Rainscreen, and Burst, Guhua Sword: Raincutter. Both are incredibly useful for dealing damage and protecting your active character.

At lower constellations, you generally want to use your Elemental Skill first to generate particles, and then immediately cast your Elemental Burst so Xingqiu catches the particles during the Burst animation. Be careful not to swap characters too early, or else your other characters will catch the Hydro particles, leaving Xingqiu without enough energy.

Once you unlock Constellation 4 ( Evilsoother), you should use your Elemental Burst before your Skill for a massive 50% increase to your Skill's damage. This assumes you already have enough Energy to cast your Burst.

Once your abilities are used, simply swap to your Main DPS or other supports. The Rain Swords will trigger on Normal Attacks to do all the work, facilitating elemental reactions and dealing continuous damage. Be mindful that using either your Skill or Burst applies the Wet status to Xingqiu momentarily. This can cleanse effects like Burning, but it can also cause you to be Frozen if fighting Cryo enemies.

Xingqiu's Best Constellations

Xingqiu is a powerful character at C0, but his constellations provide massive improvements to both his damage and his ease of building.

Investment Priority: Constellation 2 > Constellation 6 > 5-Star Weapon

Rainbow Upon the Azure Sky (C2) is his strongest early milestone. It extends the duration of his Burst by 3 seconds and decreases the Hydro RES of opponents hit by 15%. This not only increases his own damage but also buffs the damage of other Hydro characters on the team, such as Yelan.

Hence, Call Them My Own Verses (C6) is another major power spike. It provides a significant increase to his Burst damage and drastically lowers his Energy Recharge requirements by refunding Energy on every third sword-rain attack. As a 4-Star character, this is something you can obtain over time, including through Paimon's Bargains.
