Raiden Shogun Guide & Best Builds

Welcome to our Raiden Shogun build guide for Genshin Impact. Raiden Shogun is a 5-Star Electro Polearm Character who can be played both as an on-field Burst DPS and as an off-field Hyperbloom trigger. In our guide, we'll cover everything you need to know to get the most out of your Raiden Shogun, from building the best Artifacts and Weapons to important stat priorities and rotations.

Differe Raiden Shogun Build Options

Raiden Shogun has two main build paths. Her standard build focuses on maximizing her Burst damage and team battery utility, while her Hyperbloom build focuses entirely on Elemental Mastery and off-field reaction damage.

Best Weapons for Raiden Shogun

Listed below are Raiden Shogun's best weapons for her Main DPS build. While weapons are listed in a priority order, what is best can vary depending on your team buffs, Artifact quality, and Energy Recharge needs.

Engulfing Lightning R1

Timeless Dream: Eternal Stove

Base ATK: 608

Energy Recharge: 55.1%

ATK increased by 28% / 35% / 42% / 49% / 56% of Energy Recharge over the base 100%. You can gain a maximum bonus of 80% / 90% / 100% / 110% / 120% ATK. Gain 30% / 35% / 40% / 45% / 50% Energy Recharge for 12s after using an Elemental Burst.

Engulfing Lightning is Raiden Shogun's signature weapon and her best-in-slot option. Its Energy Recharge sub-stat synergizes perfectly with her kit, while its passive converts Energy Recharge into additional ATK, making it ideal for maximizing both her personal damage and consistency.
Staff of Homa R1

Reckless Cinnabar

Base ATK: 608

CRIT DMG: 66.2%

HP increased by 20% / 25% / 30% / 35% / 40%. Additionally, provides an ATK Bonus based on 0.8% / 1% / 1.2% / 1.4% / 1.6% of the wielder's Max HP. When the wielder's HP is less than 50%, this ATK Bonus is increased by an additional 1% / 1.2% / 1.4% / 1.6% / 1.8% of Max HP.

Staff of Homa is one of Raiden Shogun's best alternatives thanks to its high CRIT DMG and ATK bonus. While Raiden does not consistently benefit from the low-HP portion of the passive, it remains a powerful stat stick.
Primordial Jade Winged-Spear R1

Eagle Spear of Justice

Base ATK: 674

CRIT Rate: 22.1%

On hit, increases ATK by 3.2% / 3.9% / 4.6% / 5.3% / 6% for 6s. Max 7 stacks. This effect can only occur once every 0.3s. While in possession of the maximum possible stacks, DMG dealt is increased by 12% / 15% / 18% / 21% / 24%.

Primordial Jade Winged-Spear is a strong option thanks to its CRIT Rate sub-stat, which makes building Raiden much easier. Its stacking ATK passive is also easy for her to maintain during Burst combos.
Skyward Spine R1

Black Wing

Base ATK: 674

Energy Recharge: 36.8%

Increases CRIT Rate by 8% / 10% / 12% / 14% / 16% and increases Normal ATK SPD by 12%. Additionally, Normal and Charged Attacks hits on opponents have a 50% chance to trigger a vacuum blade that deals 40% / 55% / 70% / 85% / 100% of ATK as DMG in a small AoE. This effect can occur no more than once every 2s.

Skyward Spine is a solid weapon for Raiden Shogun due to its Energy Recharge sub-stat. The extra CRIT Rate and Attack Speed are especially useful during her Burst, allowing her to fit in more attacks.
Deathmatch R5

Gladiator

Base ATK: 454

CRIT Rate: 36.8%

If there are at least 2 opponents nearby, ATK is increased by 16% / 20% / 24% / 28% / 32% and DEF is increased by 16% / 20% / 24% / 28% / 32%. If there are fewer than 2 opponents nearby, ATK is increased by 24% / 30% / 36% / 42% / 48%.

Deathmatch is a strong 4-Star option thanks to its CRIT Rate sub-stat, making it easier to build balanced CRIT stats. Its passive also provides additional ATK depending on the number of enemies nearby.
Wavebreaker's Fin R5

Watatsumi Wavewalker

Base ATK: 620

ATK: 13.8%

For every point of the entire party's combined maximum Energy capacity, the Elemental Burst DMG of the character equipping this weapon is increased by 0.12% / 0.15% / 0.18% / 0.21% / 0.24%. A maximum of 40% / 50% / 60% / 70% / 80% increased Elemental Burst DMG can be achieved this way.

Wavebreaker's Fin is a good option in teams with high total Burst costs. Its passive increases Burst damage based on the team's combined Energy cost, making it especially effective in fast Burst-oriented rotations.
"The Catch" R5

Shanty

Base ATK: 510

Energy Recharge: 45.9%

Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 16% / 20% / 24% / 28% / 32% and Elemental Burst CRIT Rate by 6% / 7.5% / 9% / 10.5% / 12%.

The Catch is Raiden Shogun's best free-to-play weapon and competes with several premium options. It provides Energy Recharge alongside Burst DMG and CRIT Rate, making it an excellent all-around choice for her Main DPS build.
Tamayuratei no Ohanashi R5

Busybody's Running Light

Base ATK: 565

Energy Recharge: 30.6%

Increase ATK by 20% / 25% / 30% / 35% / 40% and Movement SPD by 10% for 10s when using an Elemental Skill.

Tamayuratei no Ohanashi is a decent event weapon that provides both Energy Recharge and ATK%. While it is generally weaker than The Catch, it remains a usable option if you lack better alternatives.
Vortex Vanquisher R1

Golden Majesty

Base ATK: 608

ATK: 49.6%

Increases Shield Strength by 20% / 25% / 30% / 35% / 40%. Scoring hits on opponents increases ATK by 4% / 5% / 6% / 7% / 8% for 8s. Max 5 stacks. Can only occur once every 0.3s. While protected by a shield, this ATK increase effect is increased by 100%.

Vortex Vanquisher is usable as a raw ATK stat stick, but it is generally less efficient than Raiden Shogun's stronger CRIT or Energy Recharge options. It performs best when paired with a shielder.
Blackcliff Pole R5

Press the Advantage

Base ATK: 510

CRIT DMG: 55.1%

After defeating an enemy, ATK is increased by 12% / 15% / 18% / 21% / 24% for 30s. This effect has a maximum of 3 stacks, and the duration of each stack is independent of the others.

Blackcliff Pole provides a high amount of CRIT DMG and can be useful in multi-target content where its passive is easier to maintain. However, it is less consistent than Raiden's stronger premium and F2P choices.
Prototype Starglitter R5

Magic Affinity

Base ATK: 510

Energy Recharge: 45.9%

After using an Elemental Skill, increases Normal and Charged Attack DMG by 8% / 10% / 12% / 14% / 16% for 12s. Max 2 stacks.

Prototype Starglitter is a serviceable early-game option thanks to its Energy Recharge sub-stat. It is primarily useful as a placeholder until you obtain stronger weapons such as The Catch.
Favonius Lance R5

Windfall

Base ATK: 565

Energy Recharge: 30.6%

CRIT Hits have a 60% / 70% / 80% / 90% / 100% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 Energy for the character. Can only occur once every 12s / 10.5s / 9s / 7.5s / 6s.

Favonius Lance is more of a utility choice than a damage weapon. It can be useful if your team highly values extra Energy generation, but it is noticeably weaker for Raiden Shogun's personal damage.

Engulfing Lightning is the best option for Main DPS Raiden Shogun. If you do not have her signature weapon, strong CRIT or ATK weapons such as Staff of Homa or Primordial Jade Winged-Spear perform very well, while The Catch remains her best accessible F2P option.

Listed below are Raiden Shogun's best weapons for her Hyperbloom build. In this setup, Elemental Mastery is by far the most important stat, while her personal Burst damage is largely irrelevant.

Dragon's Bane R5

Bane of Flame and Water

Base ATK: 454

Elemental Mastery: 221

Increases DMG against opponents affected by Hydro or Pyro by 20% / 24% / 28% / 32% / 36%.

Dragon's Bane is Raiden Shogun's best Hyperbloom weapon thanks to its high Elemental Mastery. Since Hyperbloom damage scales only with Elemental Mastery and character level, this makes it her strongest option for off-field reaction builds.
Kitain Cross Spear R5

Samurai Conduct

Base ATK: 565

Elemental Mastery: 110

Increases Elemental Skill DMG by 6% / 7.5% / 9% / 10.5% / 12%. After Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the character loses 3 Energy but regenerates 3 / 3.5 / 4 / 4.5 / 5 Energy every 2s for the next 6s. This effect can occur once every 10s. Can be triggered even when the character is not on the field.

Kitain Cross Spear is a strong craftable alternative that provides Elemental Mastery and some Energy utility. It is a good replacement when Dragon's Bane is unavailable.

Favonius Lance is usable in Hyperbloom teams if your teammates need the extra Energy particles it generates. However, it is still noticeably weaker than Elemental Mastery weapons for Raiden's reaction damage.

Best Artifacts for Raiden Shogun

Emblem of Severed Fate

Emblem of Severed Fate

2-Piece Set: Energy Recharge +20%

4-Piece Set: Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 25% of Energy Recharge. A maximum of 75% bonus DMG can be obtained in this way.

Emblem of Severed Fate is Raiden Shogun's best artifact set for her Main DPS build. It grants Energy Recharge and converts that stat into Burst DMG, which synergizes perfectly with her kit since the attacks performed during her Burst are also considered Burst damage.
Flower of Paradise Lost

Flower of Paradise Lost

2-Piece Set: Increases Elemental Mastery by 80.

4-Piece Set: The equipping character's Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon reaction DMG are increased by 40%, and their Lunar-Bloom reaction DMG is increased by 10%. Additionally, after the equipping character triggers Bloom, Hyperbloom, Lunar-Bloom, or Burgeon, they will gain another 25% bonus to the effects mentioned prior. Each stack of this lasts 10s. Max 4 stacks simultaneously. This effect can only be triggered once per second. The character who equips this can still trigger its effects when not on the field.

Flower of Paradise Lost is Raiden Shogun's best Hyperbloom set as it directly increases Hyperbloom damage. This makes it the strongest option when her role is purely to trigger Dendro Core reactions off-field.

Raiden Shogun's Stat Priority

Sands of Eon: Energy Recharge / ATK %
Goblet of Eonothem: Electro DMG / ATK %
Circlet of Logos: CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG
Substats: CRIT Rate/DMG > ATK % = Energy Recharge > ATK

Raiden Shogun values Energy Recharge more than most DPS characters due to her Ascension Passive, Enlightened One, which converts Energy Recharge into Electro DMG Bonus and improved Energy restoration.

In general, CRIT stats are still her most valuable offensive stats, with a 1:2 CRIT Rate to CRIT DMG ratio being ideal. Depending on your weapon and team buffs, either an Electro DMG Goblet or an ATK% Goblet can be optimal.

Sands of Eon: Elemental Mastery
Goblet of Eonothem: Elemental Mastery
Circlet of Logos: Elemental Mastery
Substats: Elemental Mastery > Energy Recharge > CRIT Rate

For Hyperbloom Raiden Shogun, Elemental Mastery is overwhelmingly the most important stat. Her Hyperbloom damage does not scale with ATK, CRIT, or Electro DMG, so you should simply stack as much Elemental Mastery as possible.

Recommended Stats for Raiden Shogun

Build recommendations assume a decently built Raiden Shogun with a standard Main DPS setup. Depending on your weapon and team buffs, these values may shift slightly.

HP: 18,000-22,000
ATK: 1,700-2,200
CRIT Rate: 60-75%
CRIT DMG: 120-170%
ER: 220-280%

Build recommendations assume a full Hyperbloom Raiden Shogun with an Elemental Mastery weapon and artifact setup.

HP: 18,000-22,000
ATK: 1,200-1,600
ER: 140-180%
EM: 850-1,000+

Raiden Shogun's Talent Priority

Talent Priority: Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu > Transcendence: Baleful Omen > Origin

For Main DPS Raiden Shogun, her Elemental Burst is by far the most important talent to level, followed by her Elemental Skill. Her Normal Attack talent is much less important.

Talent Priority: Transcendence: Baleful Omen > Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu > Origin

For Hyperbloom Raiden Shogun, talent levels are much less important because most of her damage comes from Hyperbloom reactions. You can still level her talents in the same order as her standard build, but it is not a major priority.

How to Play Raiden Shogun

Raiden Shogun's standard playstyle revolves around building up her Burst, using her teammates' Bursts first, and then spending her field time during Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu to deal damage while restoring Energy for the team.

Her Elemental Skill should be used early in the rotation to provide coordinated Electro attacks and increase the Burst DMG of her teammates. After your supports have used their abilities, Raiden Shogun should use her Burst and perform her attack string during Musou Isshin.

During her Burst window, Raiden Shogun typically uses attack strings such as Normal Attacks into Charged Attacks to maximize the number of Burst-infused hits she can fit into the duration. Properly using her full Burst duration is important, as it strongly affects both her damage output and how much Energy she restores to the team.

In Hyperbloom teams, Raiden Shogun is played almost entirely off-field. Her job is simply to cast Transcendence: Baleful Omen and then swap out so that her coordinated Electro strikes can trigger Hyperbloom reactions from Dendro Cores.

This build is extremely simple to play. As long as you maintain her Skill uptime and build as much Elemental Mastery as possible, Raiden Shogun will perform her role effectively without needing to use her Burst at all.
