The Basics of Stats for Fury Warrior
Both
Mountain Thane and
Slayer Fury Warriors primarily
value item level for Strength, followed by Mastery and Haste, followed up by
Versatility and Critical Strike. Due to various points of diminishing returns,
the value of these stats will fluctuate as gear levels increase, dropping as
more is obtained, so it is not uncommon to gear into a lot of Haste and
Mastery, then gem or enchant for more Versatility or Critical Strike. By the
time you have reached moderate gear levels, the stat priority for a Fury
Warrior should be:
- Strength;
- Mastery;
- Haste;
- Versatility.
- Critical Strike;
At the highest level of gear, these stats will shift further due to diminishing returns on the most stacked stats, though there is a point where you simply cannot get more of one stat without giving up a large portion of another. This is why traditional stat weights compared to one point of strength are a difficult tool to utilize and it is recommended that players regularly sim their own gear upgrades instead.
Getting a Better Understanding
Statistics
Strength is your primary stat, found on plate armor, weapons, and trinkets. It provides Attack Power, which contributes to the damage of all abilities and auto-attacks.
Haste compresses the rotation, reducing the global cooldown, the time
between the auto-attack swings, and the cooldown of the rotational abilities
Bloodthirst,
Raging Blow, and
Execute, as
well as the speed at which
Bladestorm and
Rampage
deal damage. While Enrage uptime is generally very high, Haste remains a
strong stat simply due to the increased action frequency and reducing the
cooldown of rotational abilities like Bloodthirst and Raging Blow.
FAQIs there a Haste cap for Fury Warriors?
However, there are several breakpoints at which its value will change. Being a Haste-driven specialization, it remains one of Fury's most important secondary stats, since more Haste increases the pace of the rotation. This equates to more Rage, special procs, and better Enrage uptime.
Mastery increases the damage bonus provided by
Mastery: Unshackled Fury
boosting all damage dealt while
Enrage is active. Due to the high
uptime and strong returns, this is a very powerful stat for Fury Warriors.
Critical Strikes deal double damage, although Fury does not generate extra Rage on Critical Strike, the way Arms does. This leaves the value of Critical Strike typically low.
Versatility provides a flat increase to damage dealt and reduces damage taken by half as much. Direct damage trinkets, cantrip items, and other outside sources of damage value versatility further, due to typically not scaling with attack power.
FAQHow Do Diminishing Returns Work?
In practice, this is not something most players need to keep track of, as the best secondaries tend to remain valuable even beyond the point of diminishing. It simply reduces the gap between them to ensure that a wider variety of gear is useful.
Gems, Enchants, and Consumables
The gems, enchants, and consumables you will use are directly derived from your stat priority, and you can find our advice on this topic in our dedicated page.
Racial Bonuses for Fury Warrior
Racial bonuses have, as a whole, very minimal impact for Fury. Anything within 1% of one another is typically considered trivial, and a small enough margin that our recommendation is to simply play what you enjoy the most.
