1. Legion Pre-Expansion Patch Gear Recommendations

Here are a few recommendations for pieces to look out for, or swap to, while we finish out the expansion in the Legion pre-patch.

Tome of Shifting Words Icon Tome of Shifting Words has great synergy with the opener and Nithramus, the All-Seer Icon Nithramus, the All-Seer still, though it is not quite as bursty as before. This trinket is especially good for shorter encounters where your damage will have a high impact.

Stone of the Elements Icon Stone of the Elements is a good second choice as it has good uptime and is guaranteed to proc on the opener, which is good for Nithramus, the All-Seer Icon Nithramus, the All-Seer. It's very easily obtained which is a nice bonus.

Sandman's Pouch Icon Sandman's Pouch is a good choice, as it will usually proc on the pull and has good synergy with your opener and Nithramus, the All-Seer Icon Nithramus, the All-Seer. It's also very easily obtained.

Prophecy of Fear Icon Prophecy of Fear is still a potent choice as the Doom Nova is procced by your Arcane Missiles Icon Arcane Missiles.

Finally, any of the assorted Hellfire Citadel trinkets are all usable, though not ideal. Examples are Unblinking Gaze of Sethe Icon Unblinking Gaze of Sethe, and Desecrated Shadowmoon Insignia Icon Desecrated Shadowmoon Insignia. The Chipped Soul Prism Icon Chipped Soul Prism from Doom Lord Kazzak and the PvP Insignia are also a decent options.

For the rest of your gear you should use T18 4PC if you have it available and follow the stat priority for your offpieces. Item level is always the most important factor when it comes to the weapon slot, however, for pieces that have a ~5 item level difference that are not weapons it can be better to take the more appropriately itemized piece.

2. Loot Competition

Regarding the loot you will get from raid or dungeon bosses, you will compete with other classes in the following cases:

Item Type Competing Classes
Tier Tokens Death Knights, Druids, Fire/Frost Mages, and Rogues
Cloth Armor Fire/Frost Mages, Priests, and Warlocks
  • Amulets
  • Cloaks
  • Rings
Everyone
Trinkets Balance Druids, Fire/Frost Mages, Shadow Priests, Elemental Shamans, and Warlocks
