Brawler's Guild: GG Engineering (Rank 7) (MoP 5.4)

GG Engineering is your first Brawler's Guild Rank 7 opponent. The fight is against two enemies, a Goblin called Max Megablast, and a Gnome called Bo Bobble. The fight consists mainly of avoiding void zones and having a sustained amount of DPS to kill the bosses before they enrage. Before we delve further into explanations, we advise you to first watch this very short video, which shows how the fight with GG Engineering goes.

1. Abilities and Strategy↑top

Max Megablast and Bo Bobble have a shared health pool. There are two important mechanics in the fight.

  • Max Megablast will constantly spam Goblin Rocket Barrage Icon Goblin Rocket Barrage. This fires rockets at your location (although they sometimes seem to target random locations), and a graphical effect appears on the ground a few seconds before the rocket lands, indicating where it will hit. Getting hit by a rocket deals a very high amount of damage, and also knocks you back a bit. Very importantly, however, the rockets also damage the bosses if they hit them.
  • Bo Bobble will sometimes retreat to a corner of the arena, where he will put up a shield that protects anyone under it (including you) from any damage. The shield is sustained by a generator (an NPC, the sole purpose of which is to sustain the shield), with about 800K health. Any rockets that hit the shield will damage it, and three rocket hits are enough to break it completely.

The strategy of the fight is to always stand next to Bo Bobble, so that rockets fired at you will hit him instead, damaging the bosses. Make sure to avoid getting hit by these rockets yourself (by moving out of the graphical effects on the ground).

When Bo activates a shield, you should move under it to attract the rockets there, so that it gets broken. While you are inside the shield, you are protected from damage, but we do not advise you to get too comfortable, since we encountered many instances of the shield bugging and causing you to take damage. You should not bother DPSing Bo, since he is immune. You can take this time to heal or bandage yourself, or you can DPS Max instead (if you are a ranged class).

Finally, Bo constantly spams Gnomish Death Ray Icon Gnomish Death Ray, an uninterruptible nuke. There is nothing you can do about this except to try to mitigate the damage and heal yourself.

2. Generic Advice↑top

  • Do not panic. It does not matter if you mess up your rotation, but you need to stick to the strategy.
  • If you are in for a long Brawler's Guild session, you may want to use a flask.
  • Prepot! Use a Potion of Brawler's Might Icon Potion of Brawler's Might, a Potion of Brawler's Cunning Icon Potion of Brawler's Cunning, or a Potion of Brawler's Deftness Icon Potion of Brawler's Deftness right before GG Engineering appears, depending on what your main statistic is.
  • When the 60-second cooldown on your potion is over, you can use the same potion again or you can use a Brawler's Healing Potion Icon Brawler's Healing Potion if you need healing.
  • Group up with other players so that you benefit from each other's buffs.

4. Classes We Did The Fight With↑top

4.1. Death Knight

To deal with GG Engineering, we advise you to make use of the following Death Knight-specific abilities/talents/glyphs.

  • Use Lichborne Icon Lichborne as your tier 2 talent, since it is the only talent in this tier that will provide you some actual usage during the fight against GG Engineering. Simply treat Lichborne as a self-healing cooldown, which can be used to extend your survival in the arena by a few seconds.
  • Use Death Pact Icon Death Pact as your tier 4 talent, because the fight against GG Engineering is short enough that you can make full use of the heal; your ghoul will still be alive when you need the healing from Death Pact.
  • Use Anti-Magic Shell Icon Anti-Magic Shell creatively, to mitigate large amounts of magic damage.
  • The fight against GG Engineering is made considerably easier if you use the full combination of offensive cooldowns at the start.

As a Death Knight, your greatest concern in this fight will be to beat the 2-minute enrage timer. Due to this, you must play as either Frost or Unholy. The damage done by Bo should not prove a problem, provided that you are using your defensive cooldowns regularly, and use Death Strike Icon Death Strike to occasionally self-heal.

4.2. Hunter

To deal with GG Engineering, we advise you to make use of the following Hunter-specific abilities/talents/glyphs.

  • As a tier 3 talent, we recommend Spirit Bond Icon Spirit Bond in this fight, since the constant healing that it provides is excellent for keeping you alive.
  • Tier 4, 5, and 6 talents should be the same as for any normal PvE raiding set-up.
  • Remember to make use of your extensive arsenal of offensive cooldowns during the fight. We detail these in the respective PvE guides (Beast Mastery / Marksmanship / Survival), and these guidelines hold true for the fight against GG Engineering.
  • Your range of defensive cooldowns is extremely limited, with only Deterrence Icon Deterrence and Feign Death Icon Feign Death playing a relevant role. Note that if you Feign Death and your pet is not alive, the fight will stop and you will be teleported out of the arena.

To defeat GG Engineering as a Hunter, keep Misdirection Icon Misdirection up on your pet, and DPS Bo Bobble while sticking to him like glue. If you over-aggro your pet, you can take the time to Feign Death Icon Feign Death safely inside the shields that Bo puts up. The biggest concern will be having the required DPS to beat the 2-minute enrage timer, so you must make sure to use all your cooldowns.
