General Information

On this page, we explain what the best statistics are for Destruction Warlocks in World of Warcraft WoD 6.0.3, how the class benefits from each of them.

The statistics priority is important as it influences itemisation choices (gear, enchants, and gems).

The other pages of our Destruction Warlock guide can be accessed from the table of contents on the right.

The stat priority for a Destruction Warlock is:

  1. Intellect;
  2. Critical Strike;
  3. Mastery;
  4. Multistrike;
  5. Haste;
  6. Versatility.

These statistics have been obtained by combining common sense, in-game testing, and simulations using Simulation Craft.

If you are unsure how to conform your gear to the above priority, you can Ask Mr. Robot for a personalised optimisation of your character's gear, by filling the form below.

2.1. Statistics Explanations

Intellect is your primary stat. You should look for this stat in all of your upgrades. It provides you with Spell Power, which increases the damage of your spells.

Critical Strike increases your chance to critically hit with all spells and abilities. This stat is of particular important to Destruction Warlocks, because Chaos Bolt Icon Chaos Bolt always critically hits and its damage is increasd by your Critical Strike. Also, you get +5% Critical Strike from all sources, thanks to Devastation Icon Devastation.

Mastery increases the damage of your Burning Ember consuming spells by a large amount, through Mastery: Emberstorm Icon Mastery: Emberstorm. For fights with multiple targets, you get a high amount of Burning Embers through Rain of Fire Icon Rain of Fire, so the benefits of Mastery are increased, but it is hard to benefit from increased multiple-target damage without sacrificing single-target damage, now that reforging is gone.

Haste influences the cast speed of your spells and increases the number of ticks from your DoTs. In turn, this increases the speed at which you build Burning Embers, which is generally good for single-target fights.

Multistrike causes your abilities to have an increased chance to hit/heal a second and a third time, each time dealing 30% of the initial damage/heal.

Versatility is a flat-out damage done increase and damage taken reduction.
