1. Basics↑top

The stat priority for an Enhancement Shaman is:

  1. Agility;
  2. Multistrike;
  3. Haste (to about 50%);
  4. Mastery = Critical Strike;
  5. Versatility;
  6. Haste (after 50%).

These statistics have been obtained by combining common sense, in-game testing, and simulations using Simulation Craft.

If you are unsure how to conform your gear to the above priority, you can Ask Mr. Robot for a personalised optimisation of your character's gear, by filling the form below.

2. Getting a Better Understanding↑top

Agility provides you with Attack Power, which increases the damage if your melee attacks, and Spell Power, which increases the damage of your spells.

Multistrike causes your abilities to have a chance to hit/heal a second and a third time, each time dealing 30% of the initial damage/heal. Both chances are evaluated separately, which means that your abilities can hit/heal only once, dealing their normal damage, or they can hit/heal twice, dealing their normal damage/heal + 30% of that damage/heal, or they can hit three times, dealing their normal damage/heal + twice 30% of that damage/heal.

Haste increases the speed of your melee autoattacks, enabling you to get more procs on Maelstrom Weapon Icon Maelstrom Weapon. Through Flurry Icon Flurry, it also decreases the cooldown of Stormstrike Icon Stormstrike, Lava Lash Icon Lava Lash, Flame Shock Icon Flame Shock, Frost Shock Icon Frost Shock, Unleash Elements Icon Unleash Elements, and Fire Nova Icon Fire Nova. Also, you get +5% Haste from all sources, thanks to your Lightning Strikes Icon Lightning Strikes passive.

Mastery, through Mastery: Enhanced Elements Icon Mastery: Enhanced Elements, increases all of your Fire, Frost, and Nature damage (i.e., not just the damage from spells, but also the damage from abilities that deal magic damage, like Lava Lash Icon Lava Lash or Windstrike Icon Windstrike).

Critical Strike increases the damage of your attacks and spells.

Versatility is a flat-out damage done increase and damage taken reduction.
