1. Legion Pre-Expansion Patch Gear Recommendations

Here are a few recommendations for pieces to look out for, or swap to, while we finish out the expansion in the Legion pre-patch.

1.1. Trinket Recommendations

Sandman's Pouch Icon Sandman's Pouch is one of the best choices, as it continues to have excellent synergy with Nithramus, the All-Seer Icon Nithramus, the All-Seer. It does a lot for your opener and can be used with every second Ray of Frost Icon Ray of Frost and Rune of Power Icon Rune of Power for a real punch. It is also very easily obtained, making it a good go-to for one of your trinket slots.

Chipped Soul Prism Icon Chipped Soul Prism is a great choice for the plethora of secondary stats it provides.

Tome of Shifting Words Icon Tome of Shifting Words is still a very solid choice, however, with the recommended talent build most of your burst will not come from Ice Lance Icon Ice Lances and instead come during your Rune + Ray combo. It is still a good choice on long and sustained fights, however, particularly when you are using Splitting Ice Icon Splitting Ice.

Stone of the Elements Icon Stone of the Elements is a good choice to pair with Sandman's Pouch Icon Sandman's Pouch as it is easily obtained and packs a decent punch on the opener with Nithramus, the All-Seer Icon Nithramus, the All-Seer and Ray of Frost Icon Ray of Frost.

Finally, any of the assorted Hellfire Citadel trinkets are all usable, though not ideal. Examples are Desecrated Shadowmoon Insignia Icon Desecrated Shadowmoon Insignia, Unblinking Gaze of Sethe Icon Unblinking Gaze of Sethe, and Prophecy of Fear Icon Prophecy of Fear.

For the rest of your gear you should use T18 4PC if you have it available and follow the stat priority for your offpieces. Item level is always the most important factor when it comes to the weapon slot, however, for pieces that have a ~5 item level difference that are not weapons it can be better to take the more appropriately itemized piece.

2. Loot Competition

Regarding the loot you will get from raid or dungeon bosses, you will compete with other classes in the following cases:

Item Type Competing Classes
Tier Tokens Death Knights, Druids, Arcane/Fire Mages, and Rogues
Cloth Armor Arcane/Fire Mages, Priests, and Warlocks
  • Amulets
  • Cloaks
  • Rings
Everyone
Trinkets Balance Druids, Arcane/Fire Mages, Shadow Priests, Elemental Shamans, and Warlocks
