Class Overview — Chrono Odyssey

The information on this page is based off of the recent Closed Beta Test (CBT) of Chrono Odyssey. This information may change as additional updates and developments are made to the game. We will continue to test and update this page as new information releases.

Choosing your class in Chrono Odyssey is one of the most important decisions you'll make. Picking the right class sets the tone for your adventure in Setera, as each class offers distinct weapons, skills, and overall playstyles.

In this guide, we'll explore all six playable classes in Chrono Odyssey to help you make the best decision.

2.

Assassin

Although the Assassin class has not been playable yet within any of the Closed Beta Tests, there is still enough information available to understand what the class is all about. The Assassin class in Chrono Odyssey specializes in stealth-based combat, delivering precise strikes to take out their foes. Based on early gameplay footage, it's clear that the Assassin class offers a range of high-mobility options, as well as weapon options that cater to both melee and ranged gameplay.

As an Assassin, you will have the option to select from two of the following three weapons.

  • Sabre — Melee weapon. Likely the slower option between the two close-range options, with footage showing charged strikes for high payoff burst.
  • Wrist Blades — Melee weapon. The faster of the two options, dealing rapid burst combos and applying stacks of poison, while incorporating mobility into strikes.
  • Musket — Ranged weapon. Used in combination with a melee option to keep pressure up after disengaging, and keeping enemies at a distance while you recover.

3.

Berserker

The Berserker class in Chrono Odyssey is a top-tier melee class that's perfect for players that prefer using melee weapons and getting up close and personal with their foes. Berserkers support both single-target and AoE build options, allowing you to customize the way you want to take on your enemies. This class is more offensive-based than defensive-based, and is built around dishing a large amount of burst damage quickly.

As a Berserker, you will have the option to select from two of the following three weapons.

  • Chain Blades — Supports a quick, agile combat style that focuses on mobility and closing gaps between you and your enemy. This weapon supports both single-target and AoE playstyles. It is important to note this weapon heavily focuses on a "risk vs. reward" playstyle, as some skills will cost health to use. However, Chain Blades attacks and skills also provide a bit more range than the other weapon options.
  • Twin Axes — Supports quick combos and tends to be more single-target oriented than AoE. The passives offered with Twin Axes provide multiple speed bonuses and health regeneration options, making it a great option for players that prefer playing solo, or a great option to be used as an off-hand in order to maximize your survivability for both PvE and PvP scenarios.
  • Battle Axe — Supports a signature melee heavy-hitting playstyle, trading overall attack speed for burst damage and crowd-control. The Battle Axe supports both single-target and AoE playstyles, but offers the most AoE-specific abilities. If you prefer spin-to-win and AoE builds in general, then the Battle Axe is likely a good option for you.

4.

Paladin

Although the Paladin class has not been playable yet within any of the Closed Beta Tests, there is still enough information available to understand what the class is all about. The Paladin class in Chrono Odyssey serves as a versatile supportive role, combining the strengths of traditional MMO tanks and healers into a single class. This class is the perfect choice for anyone interested in either Tank or support-focused playstyles.

As a Paladin, you will have the option to select from two of the following three weapons.

  • Lance — This weapon offers more of gameplay style similar to that of a Gunlancer in Lost Ark or Monster Hunter. Slower attacks with the ability to block with your shield and utilize Mana to further enhance your skills and abilities.
  • Halberd — This weapon offers the most damage dealer centric playstyle. From known sources of gameplay, the Halberd plays more like a traditional spear or partisan with thrusts, lunges and thrown attacks.
  • Mace — This weapon offers more of a support style gameplay having holy aura skills that help buff or protect your allies. The mace also is equipped with a shield just like the Lance, giving some defensive capability.

5.

Ranger

The Ranger class in Chrono Odyssey excels as a ranged-based DPS option, offering two primary build options: single-target burst damage or stacking DoT skills (via poisons and burns). Regardless of which route you choose, this class is arguably considered as one of the highest damage-dealing classes in the game. Additionally, Rangers have the ability to choose from two ranged-based weapons, and one melee-based weapon, allowing you to be flexible based on the combat situation.

As a Ranger, you will have the option to select from two of the following three weapons.

  • Crossbow — Really fast headshot pressure, reliable filler, and Tornado Shot for add waves or solo dungeon farms.
  • Bow — Much Bigger hits and key debuffs. Charged Shot and Radiant Arrow anchor your burst and Bow also carries many stun and crowd-control hooks.
  • Rapier — Melee weapon with buffs and skilled in close-combat. However, it may require more effort to reach high damage thresholds than other Ranger weapons.

6.

Sorcerer

Although the Sorcerer class has not been playable yet within any of the Closed Beta Tests, there is still enough information available to understand what the class is all about. The Sorcerer is the best option for those of you who prefer magic DPS builds. This is the "Mage" option in Chrono Odyssey, as this class is all about throwing out ranged, magical attacks. Many of these skills are built around certain elements, providing a range of debuffs on your foes to support overall damage potential for not only you, but also your allies.

As a Sorcerer, you will have the option to select from two of the following three weapons.

  • Staff — The Sorcerer's primary two-handed destructive weapon. Staffs feature Damage Boost and Damage Over Time stats, making them ideal for massive high-impact AoE casting and sustained magical damage.
  • Manasphere — A one-handed DPS weapon focused on Critical Rate and Mana Reduction. This is the Sorcerer's crit-scaling option, enabling fast-paced spellcasting with strong burst potential.
  • Grimoire — The Sorcerer's dedicated two-handed healing weapon. All publicly visible Grimoire weapons, even at higher tiers, include Healing as a main stat alongside Max Mana and Mana Reduction. Equipping a Grimoire enables true healing capabilities, allowing Sorcerer to function as a support or hybrid healer.

7.

Swordsman

The Swordsman class in Chrono Odyssey is a well-rounded melee fighter, offering a balanced approach to both offense and defense. With a focus on fast, precise swordplay, this class can adapt to multiple combat scenarios—whether it's holding up your shield against a heavy hit or dishing off multiple slashes to take down your enemy. Their versatile skillset allows for fluid weapon techniques and defensive manoeuvrers based on the combat situation.

As a Swordsman, you will have the option to select from two of the following three weapons.

  • Greatsword — High burst damage option, attacking slowly but dealing devastating damage with each hit. It features powerful combos and up front damage, allowing you to charge up attacks for even higher damage. It also makes use of both Super Armor and Hyper Armor, allowing you to tank through damage to ensure you deal a decisive blow. It heavily relies on you knowing how much punishment you can take, and when you have the time to exploit an opening.
  • Dual Blades — Sustained damage option, dealing constant damage while mixing in high damage strikes. It is extremely mobile, allowing you to dip in and out of the fray when needed. It also has parries, allowing you to negate incoming attacks if timed perfectly, with a big payoff when doing so. When switching to them, you gain a large burst of resources, rewarding you for mixing up styles with your paired weapon. Finally, it also provides a stacking threat increase or decrease buff, which is useful to carry over to your alternate weapon depending on your role.
  • Sword & Shield — While this is the tanking option, it still manages to deal impressive damage when used correctly. Its key defensive tool, Block, can be timed perfectly to negate damage, and then followed up with a powerful counterattack that knocks enemies down. While not every attack can be countered, knowing an enemies pattern can allow for devastating reprisals that given an opening you can exploit with your secondary offensive weapon. With its large suite of defensive tools and high threat generation as well, it's a potent tanking option in group content.
