On this page, you will find the best gear and best-in-slot items for your Black Mage DPS in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker (Patch 6.4).

1.

Black Mage Gearsets (BiS)

This section covers the endgame best-in-slot gear sets for Black Mage in different endgame content. The gear sets are made by calculating the average DPS output of the rotation with a given stat set and comparing it to other options. If you are interested in making your own gear sets and comparison, you can check out the Black Mage Gear Comparison Sheet.

If you are currently gearing up your Black Mage, you can find more information about the stat priorities and effects in our guide's melding section.

Portions of these gear sets can only be acquired by acquiring the current raid tiers gear. A guide for the content can be found links below.

Patch 6.4 Gear Sets

The choice between sets should be made based on preference regarding Spell Speed. The High Spell Speed set has a slightly higher, consistent base output, with less variance. The lower GCD allows for slightly more leeway on the Astral Fire timer and more frequent slidecast windows. Occasionally under Ley Lines Icon Ley Lines, it is possible to require an additional filler spell in Umbral Ice in order to guarantee both MP ticks.

The High Crit set has a slightly lower base output, but more variance. Due to this, it is popular for the top end of play - with enough runs, it is more likely to get good crit luck and have a stronger run than with the High Spell Speed set. The longer GCD results in slightly less leeway on the Astral Fire timer, but also more time to move after instant casts.

Overall, the output of both sets is exceedingly comparable and can still be top-parsing sets. Therefore, it is recommended to primarily choose based on preference and comfort regarding Spell Speed. If you are more comfortable and can play better with a faster GCD, then the High Spell Speed set is recommended. If you instead prefer a more moderate GCD and like seeing big crits, you should pick the High Crit set. Choosing a set for other reasons that otherwise result in you missing uptime or performing worse will lose far more than picking a set you can play better with.

2.1.

Anabaseios Raid High SpS Best-in-Slot (2.13 GCD)

2.2.

Anabaseios Raid High Crit Best-in-Slot (2.34 GCD)

2.3.

Anabaseios Progression High Crit Tome Chest Set (2.34 GCD)

The set listed below is specifically for starting Savage content if you do not have access to any other gear. These pieces should be replaced appropriately based on the gearing sets listed above.

2.4.

Anabaseios Progression High SpS Set (2.20 GCD)

A set that allows for an easier transition to the high SpS Best-in-Slot.

In general since Black Mage scales well with all relevant substats, simply going for the highest item level gear available will result in a strong set that will be more than sufficient for progression purposes.

3.

Dragonsong's Reprise Best-in-Slot (Patch 6.3)

As of Patch 6.3, dungeon gear from Lapis Manalis Full Guide may be used without the penalty of losing melds, since the gear dropped from the instance is i605. Below is the best option set compiled using a mix of Asphodelos and dungeon gear.
