Muck Hunter & Redband Wasp Reveals: The Witchwood

Recommended Posts

The first week of The Witchwood card reveals has just kicked off, with two cards revealed by a Chinese gaming site.

Yesterday's official live stream gave us a taste of 10 cards from the upcoming expansion, The Witchwood. Now it's time for the daily reveals by community sites and Hearthstone personalities. We start off with 17173.com, which has revealed two new minion cards.

Before I begin, I just want to clarify that I am not a Hearthstone pro like my colleagues here in Icy Veins. Most of the card reviews are hit or miss, with miss being more prominent before actually seeing them in play. I will try to do my best, though, by sharing my own opinion as well as gathering the general playerbase feel from the magical world of the Web and social media!

So, the first card is called Muck Hunter and it's an Epic neutral minion.

This minion packs some seriously good stats for its mana cost. Naturally, it has a drawback, although one could argue that it's relatively easy to remove minions with only 1 Health. I think if this minion manages to fit anywhere, it will be in Warrior. Garrosh/Magni has tons of ways to do 1 damage to enemy minions, plus Muck Hunter can be Recruited in various ways. An interesting comment that was made by some players is that this can be used as a tech card against Big Priest's various ways of bringing back to life their big minions.

The name of the second card is actually Redband Wasp, after all.

This card features the new phrasing "while damaged", which will replace the Enrage keyword from now on (you can read more on that here). The Wasp is OK at best. You will actually need to play it with more than 2 mana in your tray (for example, with Whirlwind or Cruel Taskmaster), if you want to trigger its Enrage and make a trade with an enemy minion that has more than 1 HP at the same turn. It's better in Arena, but we all know about Warrior's performance in this game mode...

As with previous expansions, Icy Veins has set up a Witchwood hub where you can find everything you need to know about Hearthstone's latest expansion. We've got information on the new Keywords, Monster Hunt and we are constantly updating it with all the card reveals. Lastly, don't forget to keep up with the reveal schedule.

Card images belong to Hearthpwn.

I vote for Angry Wasp. I quite like the card, but you’re probably right.

Warrior is supposedly doing well in the post-update arena. Only done one warrior run myself but it was pretty decent too.

Animated Berserker (1/3) into this makes him 4/2. With the other Rush minion, some kind of mid/tempo warrior might be pushed.

Yeah, I saw this being mentioned a lot. I didn't mention it as potentially being able to trigger the Wasp, because the opponent has a turn to maybe kill Animated Berserker. It's a combo of two bad cards though, meh.

Both look barely creative, first one might become strong but still boring.

Btw, I was always wondering. At this point we can safely assume all the cards of the set are ready for the game.

How does it come they have unknown names, or sometimes wrong stats (like cube in K&C)?

They give the streamers the card in the language the streamer broadcasts in, so text and name translations can be wrong until blizzard releases the card details in all languages.
